can you do the layers in different steps?

Yes, since none of the vinyl is overlapping it should be fine to do the layers in whatever order you want. I usually try to start with the largest part of the design and then add the smaller detail layers after. That helps you get everything lined up correctly. ☺

Does the HTV stick better then sticky vinyl? I have the heat press 2 since it is so big, I wonder how well an iron would work.

I always try to use heat transfer vinyl when I can get away with it (which you can with most wood products) because, in my experience, it lasts longer on products than regular adhesive vinyl. You could try using an iron, but you should be cautious not to get the iron too hot and make sure you are constantly moving it around so you don't overheat the vinyl in any one area.

Hi there! Curious to know what setting to use for such INTRICATE details? My circut isn't old or the blade but doesn't cut details well (I tried the aluminum foil trick too) Also, why do you use HTV not regular permanent vinyl? Is this a better finish?

Hi! If I am using regular adhesive vinyl then I like to use the Premium Shimmer Vinyl setting. I've found that works much better for my machine when cutting adhesive vinyl. I use HTV any time I can get away with it because in my experience it has a much longer lifespan on products. Anytime I make a wood project I use heat transfer vinyl. I pretty much only use adhesive vinyl on glass, plastic, or ceramic. Hope this helps!

If you don’t have the mini press can you use the easy press2?

I'm not sure that the easy press 2 would do a good job of getting everything adhered to a wood slice since it's not a completely smooth surface. You could definitely give it a try or you could just use adhesive vinyl instead of iron-on vinyl if you prefer.
