oh... that's a big problem. If you are good at soldering, we can suggest another tin point on the controller mainboard to connect to the TP22, which may possibly make the X work again

@@ExtremeRateThanks for the reply but I have fixed it with a bit of a crude method. If anyone else is having this issue, I put a small piece of electrical tape over TP22 and it seems to be fine now. I assume that something was shorting TP22 when I close the controller which applied pressure on the board and short-circuited. Hope that helps other people too!

I had a full go according to my test board, but my X button wouldn't work, and while both K1 and K2 would assign all right, hitting K1 or K2 after assigning them a button would do nothing. I looked at TP22 and saw that I'd given it a pretty tall dome of solder, so I resoldered it to be flatter. I put electrical tape on a few spots inside the controller (on TP22 and anywhere else I had "proud" solder points), retested with the board (100% again), reassembled, and powered it up. The X button was functioning again, and the K1 and K2 buttons did what they were supposed to do. Works like a charm now. To anyone trying this mod: cover your proud solder joints (on the main board) with electrical tape, and leave the grip panels off until you have tested it thoroughly. Good luck all.

Hi, 350-400 ℃. But you still have to be aware, the soldering points on the xbox one controller PCB are irreversible if you break them, so try to finish them at the first try. If any LED on the test board did not light up, don't try to pull the flex off, just add a bit more tin on the corresponding soldering points. Good luck!

For the touch foil: you can just cut the foil down with its wire, and after that just use buttons to enter setting mode. For K1 button unfunctional: there are 2 spare tact buttons and spare wires come with the kit, please replace the K1 tact switch (you need to solder)

Possible soldering error on TP22, the tin may possibly contact with the other circuit of the board. Please check with this hint and fix it.

The small black piece on FPC1 is a buckle, after inserting the FPC2, you have to buckle it down.

If 4 buttons, trigger stop will be removed, because there is not enough space for 4 buttons and trigger stop.

Yes, I added some more tin on those points, as they said, and it worked, I made the same with the points that didn’t turn on, just be sure to not overheat the soldering iron, it’s better if you have one that can control temperature

LoL iTz GooFi I used the temperature recommendation that’s in the manual, between 400 - 450 C or 800 F and yes be sure to apply plenty of tin and press the soldering tip for one second

hey, i did the ps4 controller one aswell i skipped the soldering on that one because i was scared, i practiced soldering, taking the rumbles out of the ps4 controller off the board i didn't put them back on. the xbox one controller kit arrived today and i did it, i have no experience soldering before this and overall was fun and it felt easy. take a chance my soldering kit was 22 dollars so you don't need the best soldering equipment to do this. it was fun. trial and error i had to troubleshoot it since i didn't solder any of the first points correctly because the double side tape i used was too thick (the foam one) use the thinnest tape you can find

But I do all my gaming on my ps4 anyways so its ok. I would like to buy the elite for my Xbox or do the mod on my current Xbox controller. But with the new console coming out am just going to wait on it after all. But thanks for the info on your experience, its greatly appreciated.

Sorry we don't offer this service. If you don't need the touch pad button and L3 R3 be mapped to back buttons, then you don't need to solder.

@@ExtremeRate K1 and K2 are the only buttons that don’t work on the controller, everything else still functions without issues. All pins are clean and free from damage.

Problem is on the TP15 soldering point, the tin on it may be too much and touched with other points nearby, please check.

@@ExtremeRate OK, thanks. I completely removed the kit from my controller to check if the problem persists when removed. Once removed the controller functioned as normal again. I'll try re installing the kit with your suggestion in mind! Thanks for the reply!

never mines i had the heat to low but the power spot on the top board keeps coming off and the trigers scratch agenst something what can i do

You should put the PCB1 and PCB2 of the controller back together before you turn it on

@@ExtremeRate Nevermind. I had to push PBC1 and PBC2 together stronger. There was something from each PBC that needed to fasten together that did not fasten together at first.

I believe it to be tp25. The point looks none existent anymore. Must of burnt it. Im a bit disappointed to be honest, I've done some quite advanced soldering, harder than this and I didn't leave the iron on the point for any longer than a second. Is there anyway I can do some type of trace repair to fix the view button?

You should solder the TP22 and TP17 again, just add bit more tin on them, but please be aware don't leave the iron on the points too long, otherwise you will break them

@@ExtremeRate The X (blue) button was not working despite all the LEDs on tester lighting up. I ended up fixing it by resoldering the gray (+) and black (- ) leads of the board. Everything working as it should now.

@@ExtremeRate For the trigger rumble pack I believe. Unsure how that solved the issue but it did. Maybe more than just rumble motors.

When you tested the kit with the testboard, is all the LEDs on the board are lights up?
