I made these when I was really young and forgot how to so I came on here last month and found someone with a pattern which was not as easy as I remembered. Then today I came back on to find it as I had forgotten how to and found you. Well you do it the way I remembered and not only is your work beautiful but you are an excellent teacher. We love the way you take your time for us to see and explain it all so well. Just had to let you know that you are TRULY appreciated. Thank you so much. I will be checking to see what else you have to teach here. I subscribed to your channel and will be telling others to also. Tip: Put curved top of candy cane thru first, it works so much easier. Another tip for candy cane holders is to make a chain of 30, add to top of candy cane holders and it hangs on tree better, or you can hang them on coat hangers, door knobs or 2 together hang nicely on the wall. Also candy canes can be kept in freezer til next year. Crushed candy canes make a great sprinkle for cupcakes or cookies and even as a mint in fish dishes or anything calling for mint. Great topped on icecream.. My kids like to have them as a treat in summertime. I like to tie them on a gift card on top of presents at Christmastime. ! Enjoy.!

I have the very same hook and mine doesn't squeak. She may be holding her tention to tight or it could be her yarn.

Just start weaving in the candy cane from the very first loop then you won't have to worry about the neck of the candy cane....it will all work out. Then I use ribbon & make a nice little bow & attach

Have you tried the variegated Christmas yarn that is white , red and green, they look so great with this yarn. I am now making some 3 inch holders for the tiny canes and I am using the fine crochet cotton of white with silver sparkle throughout. Let me know if you would prefer me to not write all these things on your channel. I don't have a thing of my own as I don't know how to and I don't use computer for much more than writing a volunteer cancer newsletter. I will stop now and thanks so much.! And thanks for the pattern for the childs mouse bag. So cute.!

go up a size on the hook or bigger or go down a hook size or two for smaller

The candy canes that are sold now are too short for this design. I had to use 20 chains instead of 32.

this holder fits a large or extra candy cane right?...I used the normal size and the holder is way too big.....where did you find larger canes?

no, I used a regular candy cane, not big or small, did you use a f hook for this pattern?

I crochet quite loosely, so I would go down at least one size to an E or D(2.75 mm or 3 mm). If I used a F hook( 3.75 mm) it would definately come out way too large for a regular candy cane.

I used medium worsted yarn and the candy canes fit nicely so I can’t say for sure for dk yarn but if it’s medium then yes it should

You said f hook..my f hook is so much smaller than yours and the finished product comes out looking smaller..could you tell me why please?it is f5..3.75..blessings..

F is 3.75, you could go up a size or two in hooks size, not sure why yours was smaller?
