DIY zero waste gift wrap 

My grandmother always recycled wrapping paper. She'd iron it and it was just like new. And she always carefully opened packages to keep from tearing the paper. I do the same for the most part, unless the paper is too small or I think it is ugly. In fact I think tissue paper is prettier after it is used; it has a softness about it. Grandmother also reused writing paper. When she got a letter, she'd use that same letter and turn it sideways and write her reply. She saved used envelopes and made her grocery lists on them. As well, she, my mother, and I too, always reused the brown kraft grocery sacks. There were no plastic grocery sacks until more recent times. And all our beverages came in glass which we returned to get back the deposit we paid when we bought them. People from grandmother's generation and my mother's generation had to be 'green'. They lived through a couple of world wars, rationing, the collapse of the stock market and the great depression. I grew up and came of age in more prosperous times but I've never forgotten my roots and the lessons learned from their frugality. So many today are wasteful, and worse, ungrateful for the abundance they enjoy. It is refreshing to see a young person like yourself being so thoughtful. You are making a difference. It may not seem so, but you are planting seeds and from those seeds a figurative forest can grow. I wish you a blessed and joy filled holiday season.

I absolutely love these ideas. Last Christmas I made my wrapping paper with the potato stamp and brown paper idea and they turned out really nice. My family always collects and reuses the paper they used to wrap their gifts so they never have to buy new paper because there's always pieces left over.

I've been using Ecosia for nearly a year now! It's great and has a counter to tell you how many searches you have done and roughly how many trees you have planted! I love that you are leaning towards a zero waste lifestyle and yet you're still so creative with it, I'm trying to do the same :)

I've always reused wrapping paper, especially larger pieces and gift wrap can also be used for cards, tags etc. I also reuse envelopes, saves repeatedly using new ones every time, I just put new cards in them of course since I make my own.

I love using those brown bags from Trader Joe's. I do kids crafts on Thanksgiving & had them decorate the bag that I will be using to wrap their gift.

Here we save all the wraps of the gifs we recive, obviously the paper is not good for wrapping huge things, but its used to decorate notebooks, craft proyects, covering more boxes with tiny pieces, making cards for gifts, great video!

as always such a cute and helpful video! But I would recommend using sponges or Rubbers for the stamps, it gives a nice design to it and that way you don’t ‘waste’ food 😌♥️ thanks for the tips anyways, I was spending a lot of money for packaging and I think my favourite is the one with the grocery bags 😻

We think alike! Beautiful ideas that I sometimes put to use myself. Also I use regular wrapping paper after Christmas for scrap booking, origami, paper collages, paper bookmarks braiding, decoupaging boxes, for the bottoms of drawers...you name it! Very well done and thanks for the inspiring video - old clothes packaging reminds me of the Japanese furoshiki art but haven't tried it yet!

I've been using newspaper as gift wrapping paper for years, now, works great :) My family also know not to give me gift wrapped in wrapping papers so they use tea towels and such (sadly, they only do it for me ; still, that's a start). Did the toilet paper roll once, it was fun! Using an old shirt is a nice idea but yours seem to be in neat condition, I would have donate it...

I wrapped everyone’s gift last year in a reusable bag from Walmart or a grocery store, and used newspaper as the stuffing.

The recipient can also use the flannel for cleaning! You can use flannel to take off your make-up, to clean glass panes and mirrors, and (if you're that way inclined) to do a shellack polishing on furniture and instruments. Flannel hardly ever loses fluff, so it's ideal for all of that.

This is a great idea, I was always curious if gift wrap could be more Eco friendly. Gift wrap can be so wasteful during the Christmas season.
