I'm so grateful that I found your channel i have a 1991 dodge ramcharger with a worn out 318 that i want to swap to a 5.7 hemi, this information its gold to me thanks a lot
I know that Carl Gerst, (Gerst Tubular Suspensions), is making K-members for most popular mopars that are all set up for the Gen 3 hemi's. I was just looking at some pics on FB and the guy doing the install is telling all how nice and easy setting it up is.
Have a 2007 Dodge Durango 5.7L Hemi when I reach 70 mph and cruise at that speed the engine cuts out possibly dropping 2 cylinders for multi displacement is that a common problem with the multi displacement. By cutting out I mean it has a dead spot but picks up after a short misstep. Thanks, your video's are great.
Great info! Im considering putting a gen3 hemi in an offroad jeep with an old school 727 transmission from the 80s. Any idea or insight on wiring/compatability between on the two? Would i need a stand alone harness? My lights and all that jazz are seperately run. Any info would be appreciated 👍
I dont know if u still recueve a comment on here but i have a 2002 Dodge ram truck 2 wheel drive 2 door short box with 5.9 magnum 360 with automatic trans 3 spped with overdrive an lock up.. 392 sure grip rear gears .. is there much to doing swap over to 5.7 hemi ? An which one should i go with .. gen 3 or next hemi up which would be ??? Thanks i oerson with disability im in a wheel chair an in my 50s an do most work in my truck myself .. i dont let it stop me lol your advice be greatly appreciated.. im from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 this was an excellent video .. im so thankfull theres good fellas like yas out there 👍👍👍
Hey. Im late but found this channel searching for informations to maybe make a sleeper out of my 75 Plymouth valiant 4 doors sedan. Still not decided on keeping the full drivetrain of putting a less problems of 727 adaptation for shifting simpliness. Yes I will loose a 4th gear but the lightness of the body will compensate, specialy if I put vintage Scoobydoo-mobile rear tires. Most of the car use will be local daily driving with a little Track sometime. So the main things to check are the oil pan and power streering for A body application ? I think it's a 8 1/4 diferencial, and I will keep it untill I break it.
Thanks for the video! SKIM question. I have pulled a Hemi 5.7 from a 2005 Durango. Will the PCM allow the engine to be started on a run stand without clearing the SKIM first? I plan to do a SKIM removal before swapping it into my project vehicle (2005 Jeep LJ).
love your videos, I have a 68 charger dropping a 2015 SRT 392 with a 6 speed TR6060 man trans, my question is: are the shifter location in the same location ?
Thank you for the videos! I'm about to go down the Hemi rabbit hole with my 1957 Chevy truck. It's currently a 5.9L Magnum V8 using a shortened 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD chassis and a 46RH transmission. I'm trying to plan out all I need for the swap. I'm not looking to make a go-fast truck, just something different.
Great channel - great info! I'm looking to swap a 1985 Bronco that currently holds a supercharged 351W (surprisingly gutless) bolted to a C6 auto/ NP208. Want to do something different and NOT go LS but instead go with a gen3 5.7/ Ram power plant. The wiring etc... doesn't bug me much but I could use some fitment insight: 1. Do you know of any issues I might run into in the tunnel? The C6 looks like it might be a little slimmer than the 545RFE.. 2. Do you know if the 545RFE (4X4) output shaft will be compatible with the NP208 T-Case? It would be nice to save some time not having to mess with driveshafts/ U joints and keep the Manual T-Case.
Please HELP???Can you run a transmission in a hemi swap without the factory tcm ?? Found a cheap transmission but it comes with no tcm so I need help with figuring out my options
Good stuff! I have a 2008 Ram 1500 with a 4.7l and want to swap it for a 5.7 Hemi... I’m looking forward to that project. Any advice in regards to which truck year I should get the 5.7 Hemi from? Should I focus on a 2008 truck with 5.7 Hemi or earlier years?
I have a heritage edition 2006 chrysler 300c with a 5.7 I'm going to swap to a 6.1 hemi from a 2008 charger any pointers or things you can tell me for my journey.?..
DIYHEMI I have a 91 dodge w250 and I’m using a 5.7 hemi from a 2005 i am using a nv4500 5 speed I have a manual pcm but an automatic harness do I cut out all the wires that relate to the transmission?
I went to a junk yard and got a bellcrank but it has two rows of 3 so I can't find the color coding of how to wire this into my 2004 dodge ram 5.7 since it's a Mercedes bellcrank! The truck one is straight across and the Mercedes is two rows of 3! Plz help
Do I need to locate a manual ecm in order to use your harness? I currently have a 2005 engine, harness, and auto truck PCM. I've been looking for the computer for a manual truck but am not having any luck.
Someone’s mentioning the 5.7 hemi may have been made at different plants and that maybe the ones that drop valve seats had all come from the same place? Any comments?
I have an 06 ram 1500 4x4 that had a 4.7 in it and Im thinking of putting a hemi in it. do you know what the easiest setup to do is? like what year engine and components should I look for?
Thank you for this. You mentioned for the 2009 up harness ecm is different so what vehicles do I look for? Also do have the wiring instructions for the 09 up on your website? I’m putting mine into an 02 durango that I need to make friends.
so, if wanting to use my original pedal in my e body mopar, with a drive by wire throttle body, the aps will make it possible to use the cable from my accelerator pedal?
@@SUBLIMEparts thanks brother!!! Looking to drop a 6.1 in my challenger. And with its drive by wire, I was worried I had to purchase an aftermarket drive by cable throttle body. Thanks again.
is there anyway to install a 5.7 hemi in a 07 dodge charger v6 car and tie in the 05 engine harness..?..without changing the whole harness in the car...
Sorry this post is late, I just came across this video. I'd like to do a hemi swap into a 2wd 03 Durango with a 5 speed. Not sure if I'll use a nv3500 since it's rating is so close to the torque output of a stock hemi, maybe an nv4500. Any thoughts on how this would work with the dash and peripherals working like cruise and ac?
I just found a manual transmission 2005 ram ecm and a complete harness of a manual transmission also, so I was wondering is this better since is ecm and harness are for manual transmission, would be just plug and play? No mods to the harnesse? And last question is, if the car manual transmission ecm 06 would also work?
DIY hemi videos real interesting thanks. Question I'm using 2006 harness from charger but I want to use the transmission from the car or truck if i use the truck would the ecm from 2005 truck work on the car harness thanks in advance .
what is the difference between a 2 gen BBM hemi / RB bell housing ? and a 3gen hemi ? especially for a BBM 1970 727 transmission or does it matter at all ? as it will bolt up the same without extra fuss or mods?
Richard Price the genIII hemi uses the small block mopar bell housing and starter setup. To run a 727/904 use a flex plate adapter at about $70 To run an 833 4 speed, trim the input shaft about 13/16”
@@SUBLIMEparts thanks for your reply so to straighten the record the bolt patterns on the bells is the same ?? just not the crankshaft offsets ? but has the same crank bolt patterns? and is basically the same swap information as to how to fitment? for A/LA/magnum/3g hemi, i don't mind reading if need be just looking for a pointer where to look as im new to this and i bet theres others two im asking and hopefully no one else gets confused 🤷♂️ like me and in the future can use this info for their 3g hemi swap because at one time there were a lot of BBM cars and trucks floating a round on the city streets which means that its easy to end up with those parts by accident if that not what fits or that you whanted. A side note as of right now as im typing this im helping my younger 20 something brother ( hopefully he gets to finish it and its not just a rat or 1/2 baked because i think this is a cool 😎 car ) with a 1968 dart ( his idea that im helping and trying not to steer the build direction as this isn't my 1st rodeo so i figured he'd like the harder learn lessons passed on from me to speed up his build with 3-gen hemi swap with TR6070 corvette transaxle back half cradle basically a clone of my car just shrunken down light weighted with some key deign detail changes ) and mine is a 2gen charger ( leftover BBM 383 727 ) ( 2-gen hemi TR6070 Camaro style trans 8-3/4 rear both are setup for autoX / daily's ) so dose this mean most of my extra spare parts / costume bits isn't a easy copy and paste / don't try to use my leftover parts on his as "free bees"
o and i did offer the 727 auto ect. to him just in case and or as a test stand peace ect. . plus in a pinch it's probably not a bad idea 💡 to know what i need to change out so a 3g hemi fits im my ride cause 2gs hemis dont grow in road side cornfields 🌽 any more or junkyards for that mader and a old wisecracker said once if you can have the same parts as your road trip buddies your chance of being stuck goes down because spares are awesome
can you also do this swap on a 2007 dodge charger .?..using the v6 harrness and tie in the truck harrness.?...im asking bc i dont want to remove the dash to remove the harrness......thanks
Diyhemi! I have a 98 Dakota it was previously a 3.9v6 truck I put my 5.2 magnum in and had a mishap with aftermarket injectors the eighth cylinder flooded so going to the dream build of putting at 5.7 or 6.1 hemi in it I have a 03 parts truck with a running knocking motor the truck is complete with harness and components I’m planning on pulling the motor and taking it down to find the knock but if I have to I will be buying another donor running not knocking but my question is my transmission that’s hooked to my 1997 5.2 magnum 4spd auto italic was rebuilt stage 2 and I was wondering what I’d have to do to hook to the 03 5.7 hemi and have been considering looking for a 6 speed automatic out of a charger possibly
The 4 speeds 46re etc are the same front as a 727 etc 3 speed so the mounting info should be the same as in the video about A B E bodies with the 3 speed. You will have a separate Transmission control module that runs the 4 speed, it might need some input from the ecu but you should be able to use the leftover trans wiring if the harness has it. Alternatively you can find an aftermarket tcm controller, convert the trans to hydraulic 46rh, or convert the trans to a full manual valve body and have no computer whatsoever.
I need hemi motor mounts for a 4x4 2nd gen dakota that has a 4.7. Anyone know what can work? The front diff mounts to the motor mounts but it seems to be a common thing. Can I grab something meant for a 5.7 durango or grand cherokee or commander? Anything else im missing?
I have a 2013 Hyundai genesis coupe rspec 3.8 that I blew the engine in. To replace the stock engine it is between 4.5k and 5k. That alot of money for me. I would love to do a 5.7 hemi swap mainly because know one else has done this. But I want a manual transmission (mainly because I already have one the car factory) I could use all the info I could get. And it is okay to assume I am a knob or whatever ever. I know a little bit. But not everything that why I am asking for help
I can't seem to find a ram that's in a local u pull it yards. can I use a 2003 to 2005 Durango's Hemi engine and harness the same as truck harness from the same years?
Kate Hood the engine in the Durango is physically more like the Car hemi and the wiring harness is very different. The connectors are different as is the ECM. They can still be made stand alone, however.
Ok, I finally got a 03 HEMI engine, I also scored a 6 speed manual transmission from a 05 ram 4,7. Can I use a harness, gas pedal and pcm of an 05 on the 03 engine? If not, can I use the gas pedal of 05 to the 03 harnesses.? I would really appreciate it if you could help me out Thanks JP
Juan Pablo Onate yes you can use the 05 pcm and harness on the 03 engine, just change coil packs or coil pack connectors. The gas pedals are all interchangeable, just make sure to use the matching connectors and calibrate afterwards
@@SUBLIMEparts thanks so much for replying, I really appreciate it. I would probably have more questions ones I start putting together...lol You should make a video of connecting power to the harness, how to make clusters to work, tachometer etc.just a suggestion that would help a lot of people like me I love you approach to the low budget, non mechanic DIY community Thanks for that Keep up the good work and the videos coming
I know they aren't as well known, but if you get around to figuring out how to drop a 5.7/6.1 into a F-body mopar...there's like 6 of us who would like to know
DIYHEMI I have a question. I have 2 dodge magnums 1 3.5 and 1 5.7 Hemi. I also have a Chrysler 300 3.5. I want to pull the 5.7 out of my 1 2006 Dodge magnum (rusted out) and put into my other dodge magnum. Can I use the transmission out of the 3.5 magnum with the 5.7 or do I have to swap both the 5.7 and it’s transmission?
CCL Canadiancountrylife you can reuse it, but you will need to make sure the TCM is reflashed to match the vin of the hemi ecm. All modules must be synced for this to work properly
DIYHEMI is there any way I can manipulate it? Like say when I swap the Hemi into the 3.5 magnum use the TCM from my Hemi magnum and hook it up to my 3.5L transmission? Or is there going to be some kind of sensor in the transmission that I will have to change too to?
Our QuickRun harnesses always follow the engine and where it came from. So yours would need our 05-08 car Hemi harness. See link below www.diyhemi.com/product-page/05-08-car-quickhemi-harness
John Rivinius the web store launch date is targeted for April 30th, but you can direct message me with your size and I’ll be sure to get one set aside for you!
@@cudaman2formula874 I just started to get all the components for it, I already got the engine mounts, bell housing and exhaust manifolds also a new frame with 0 rust so I'm very excited about it
@@cudaman2formula874 yeah I got almost everything but the engine.....lol Hard to get a cheap one with decent mileage and I'm trying to get a 05 but if I find an 03 04 good one I would take it too
You can use your stock 46re with a spacer like he says for the 727 since they're an updated 727. Idk what you will need to do for the trans controller to work with the new engine. Or you can use a 45rfe/545rfe out of a ram but you may need to swap the output shaft of the trans or the input of the transfer case because the two are different lengths. A spacer may also work here but I can't confirm because I don't remember which one is longer and shorter. Or grab a donor transfer case as well, but then you get into the t case outputs. These should be the same but may not be. T case outputs can usually be swapped between two whole units just like in/out shafts.
DID 02 4 WHEEL DRIVE 4.7 TO 05 5.7 ,RUNS GREAT ALL THOUGH ,NO SPEEDO AND ABS\BRAKE LIGHT ON? RAN DBW PEDAL BUT NO CRUISE CONTROL MODULE FOR NO PIGTAIL?? HELP IM CHEVY GUY
@@SUBLIMEparts I got a 2007 300c srt8 motor and tranny that will be going in a 68 cutlass, will I need a thinner oil pan and if I do where can I get one and does anyone make motor mounts for my application. Also do you guys have a fuse box for this motor?
No your case is the same as the 02 durango that someone asked about. You need to use the ram harness and wire into the dakota fuse block and cab plug. The 00/01/02 4.7 dakota/durangos use an even older pcm style with only 3 plugs. I'm in the same boat with my 01 4wd 4.7 just need motor mounts, oil pan work, and put an 03/04 hemi pcm and harness tied into the dakota cab and fuse block.
