This is what the good rave DJ's of the 90's did. They'd throw bits of the next tune in in the present one playing, or sometimes even three tunes in advance. When the tune finally gets played the whole venue would be blowing whistles, horns, and cheering. Good method of introducing the dance anthems we all love. Well done ES. :)
I mis these transitions, today its effects to effect or slow transitions. Even cooler is these fast transitions with scratches and backspins and cut in back in the beat, you can do this the best with tool techno records.
jonathon you are awesome man, bought a pair of pioneer cdj 1000's and a dim 600 mixer after afghan last year and your videos have guided me every step of the way. cheers bro!
Thank you so much for all yuor tutorial videos! I had a dream. I wished to be a DJ. And you know what? after 1.5 years of savings (almost all money i got from my job) i bought a nice and juicy setup - DJM 2000 and 2 CDJ 2000. So there is no turning back now ^^ Your tutorials are just great for a novice, they are easy to learn from, and you give a lot of usefull tips.
I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOVE YOUR VIDEOS! I started watching last week when I bought my first Dj controller, and I can't stop watching your videos and trying out what I learn. Many many thanks to you good sir! :)
I was a total dj rookie a year ago, but with the help from your vids I've learned so many techniques, tricks and general skills. Must say your teaching is perfect, fun and enthusiastic mate :-) thanks heaps!
I have to second ellaskins especially on that beat matching thing from 7:00 on. In the mid 90th I tried and tried and got frustrated and then did just that and had a training curve after a short amount of time. :) For me most of it comes too late but it's really really fun to see that and if this is a new topic for you, watch as many of this as you can. It took years to figure most of it out on my own and at the end of the day all the tutorials I watched on this channel are something you might want to know to have more fun mixing music.
love your work mate!!! great attitude towards it all and sharing your knowledge freely is awesome! please make sure you keep having fun with your videos though, you having fun makes the videos ridiculously fun :)
respect to you my friend there is no better sound than a thumping kick being teased in , and great advice about making your own style wish there was more like you......... !
Always loved that song by Donna Summer, personally prefer the original as it was probably one of the best songs of its time to listen to with headphones by the way it would transfer between left and right on your headphones and then somehow ended up in the middle
love your atitud mate fair play to u... u almost as crazy as i am... hahahah love your tips hope one day i can mix some tunes hahaha with what i learnt from u... love your videos...
Excellent tut! Class tunes as always ha. Also, you probably have without me noticing, uploaded a tut on an advance pa set up i.e. dealing with linking more than 2 speakers and adding a sub? I'm currently looking to add a sub as i'm starting to do larger gigs
Didn't even see the bananas until 12 minutes in, thanks for the videos mate learnt a lot from you as a beginner these videos really help and some new ones would be awesome
the key is try to always set particular sample of song with famous melody, vocal or so.and when for example between vocal singing or other moments bring in this sample.sometimes two opposite different songs with " tease sample coming in" sound very nice
im just starting but when i get good i wanna know how u get venues to play in lol wanna get traktor pro but dont know if i should go vinyl or computer based
Great vid! So, I don't use my crossfader as I'm more of the long West Coast type mix kinda guy and I like the more precise control over the volume that I get with the channel faders. Anyway, after watching this I feel like I'm missing out, heh. I notice your channel faders are always set ALL the way up, which makes tricks like this one easier to do. But then how are you setting your levels for each track- with the trims??
gr8 vids man! ive not got any dance vinyl cuz im more into urban/funk/soul/disco but i wana start with the dance music. if u dont have a bpm counter on ure mixer, how would i find some dance vinyl with simular bpm's? or better yet, how do i find out the bpm in many records? thnx in advance!
I've got a question regarding turntables: is it normal that you've got to gain a lot more volume when using a turntable (Phono) comparing to a cd-player (line) ?
