Earlier this month, iconic hip-hop producer DJ Premier stopped by Genius HQ for the second installment of Genius Level with Genius' Head of Artist Relations Rob Markman. During the in-depth conversation, DJ Premier explained the process behind the making of Nas‘ 1994 classic “N.Y. State of Mind.” The track is featured on Nas’ debut album 'Illmatic,' and captured the dark, gritty nature of street life in New York from the perspective of a Queensbridge native.
