Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

Man, thanks so much for interviewing this man. I still play his solo "Rockin' Music" joint to this day. As a huge Steady B fan, its so nice to hear some stories behind the music and albums. I remember copping Let The Hustlers Play in high school and listening to it over and over on my walk to school.

When Tat cuts on the end break of the Serious remix, (the Turtles “I’m King ComonIwannalaiya”), that is 100% perfect Hip-Hop. I wish DJ’s still paid attention to the rhythmic impact that cutting on a break like that makes. Nowadays it seems like they just wanna transform so fast all the time that the scratches lose that “punch” that they used to give. Yep, that insanely fast transformer scratch is technically difficult, etc. But just like a guitar solo, you don’t always wanna go out there and just shred as fast as you can. Tat was/is not only a technically excellent DJ, he knew what THE SONG needed. A lot of DJs don’t differentiate between how crazy skilled they can be vs. what the feel of the song calls for. Tat is the genuine article when it comes to being a Hip-Hop DJ.

It was pure fire. The best remix ever made, period! PIllars of this culture, ya'll are! Much respect!!! Another remix worth mentioning is "Cut Chemist Party Mix" of DJ Shadow's "Midnight in a perfect world". That would be number two for me.
