DJI FPV Flying in Taiwan: Strafing Yi-Jiang Bridge?

DJI FPV flying with head tracker in a RC plane with functional reflector sight at Yi-Jiang Bridge Field, Taichung, Taiwan. We made a sweeping pass at bridge traffic from safe distance to simulate a strafing attack aiming crosshair at a couple of trucks. This was a line of sight flight at a unfamiliar field with friend wearing the FPV goggles. All safety rules and regulations were dully observed.
Aircraft: FMS A6M5 Zero (1400mm span)
FPV system: DJI FPV Goggle, Air Unit, Camera, V1
Head-tracker: Fatshark Trinity Head-tracker external modeule
Field: Yi-Jiang Bridge, Taichung, Taiwan
Reflector Sight: 1:6 scale Ravi 16 sight hand crafted by Tim Noack/ Germany

The low passes over the riverbank shrubbery were great! This video was special for me. I spent some time living in Hsinchu and Tainan. It has been years now. I miss my friends. A wonderful country. 😊

Glad you enjoyed the video! Taiwan is indeed a wonderful country. I was visiting my folks there and people at the flying fields are super friendly and helpful. @@motionsic its my 3. warbird lost my Hookll P 51 with pan and DJI vista and INAV flight controller. its cool to have full OSD and RTH rescue. it didn't help at my P 51 as i crashed in a Dschungel area... hope still someone might find it love your channel bro

Just to let you know I am unable to connect the stereo jack into my radio for the external fatshark head tracker due to it not having a port. Any solution on this issue?

Injection mould is almost finished, needs some minor corrections. And Servo manufacturer forecast delivery of servos in another 10 days. So optimistically, you can buy the pan & tilt in a month. But likely two...

Do you think I could run two radios on a buddy box system over the same receiver without occupying channels with the 2nd radio? I haven't tried buddy boxing but it does look like I am going to have to go to great lengths for head tracking with the type of radio I want or need. I don't think I will be able to use head tracking on the iX20 SE.

Don’t think you can use buddy box AND Fatshark head-tracker at the same time, since they use the same port.

Do you have any advice for when I attempt to get my FatShark FSV1610 head tracker project going and how to set it up on the radio/menu system?

It’s pretty straight forward, just follow the instructions manual. Depending on the RC transmitter you hook up the head tracker to, it could be quite easy. Just make sure the HT output channel numbers and the TX trainer channels match.

I have some information but it's on my other computer at home. I don't have the power information on the head tracker though.

Would you know anything about modifying a radio that is mode 2 by pulling the gimbals out and moving them/wiring them in mode 3 positions? Know anything about gyro stabilized fpv cameras?

I fly mode 3, which is "mode 2 for left handers". It is easy to move the sticks from l - r, you then remap the functions in the transmitter to Aileron and Elevator on the left stick, rudder throttle on the right. Good luck, relatively easy job.

What would you recommend as a solution for my DX8E not having an audio port jack if there could be a solution? Is this even possible to make this type of head tracker work without it? My new radio I ordered has everything to my knowledge.

If DX8E uses wireless trainer then you maybe out of luck on using Fatshark Head-tracking module, unless your radio has separate function to setup head-tracking. You should give horizon hobby a call.

I don't have a mic jack on my DX8E. I think my fatshark external head tracker has a jack for that. Any solutions or instructions on setup? Any help would be nice. Does it take 2 servos or one for your pan and tilt system?

Can you look at photos of the back of the iX20 special edition? I am starting to worry now that the iX20 SE doesn't have a trainer port either from the looks of it. Tell me if you think I can connect the external fatshark to it.

Looks like it does have a data transfer port in addition to a dedicated audio port.

I thought I was going to be able to connect it to my DX8E but my DX8E also has a wireless trainer mode like the new radio I am getting(ix 20 SE). I am worried I will run into the same problem. I have been thinking of doing something extreme like buying a dedicated radio or fatshark goggles. I am worried and losing sleep about the issue. I don't want to have to buy their goggles or a new radio with a dedicated receiver to lug around in a packpack just to head tracked FPV.

larsulrich3356 I can’t say for certain. You should contact dealer where you will buy the iX20se from, or horizon hobby. It’s a substantial purchase. They should be able to give you an answer.

How many DJI air units do you have/gone through? What is the situation status on your pan and tilt system/DJI cooling system and being able to purchase them from you?

I have gone through 3 air units. Pan & tilt is in production, need finalization on packaging and patent number issuance to start selling. No DJI cooling system for sale yet.

Know anything about or have any ideas on a fatshark head tracker with a bad speaker? I have two sets of the FSV 1610 and one of the two has a bad speaker. I want to get it fixed. I also have a bad trainer port cable. One cable works and one head tracker works out of the set of 2.

@@motionsic we got the head tracker working right. One of them had a bad wire and had a flakey connection and for some reason the beeps started working randomly. Just some random fluke it appears.

@@larsulrich3356 The Trinity HT units are super reliable, but the wire connectors are junk, it’s well known they wear out after repeated plug in & out. I have learned to keep them plugged-in and leave them in place. Or treat the wire/plugs as expandable.

From Tim Noack of Germany. I bought the only prototype he had for sell. I also purchased the production rights and knowhow for the reflector sight. He no longer makes them. I will be making them if there's demand.

@@larsulrich3356 Thanks for the support! I will focus on the pan & tilt for now. The reflector sight will come later. For reticle to be seen properly, FPV camera must be placed close to scale pilot eye position. My pan & tilt would make it easy to adjust camera position for that.

@@motionsic Cool. I hope I can adapt your pan and tilt system to a drone or multirotor eventually. I do like chopper and rotor aircraft and it was my first RC plane. I like fixed wing, rotating wing and multirotor planes.

@@motionsic yeah I want to get into it after some of my RC is at a certain progress. I just preordered my new Speketrum iX20. It allows me to change the gimbal stick modes(1, 2, 3 and 4.) I notice that flight test is making their own planes and I would like to venture into that direction as well.

Not really. The DJI FPV V2 with the drone does provide real time sound transmission. But unfortunately, not with air unit.

I just got my DX18 converted to mode 3 sticks. It was more work than I found in the videos.
