Goggles 3 Spectator Mode & Sharing. Hi all I forgot to say in the video sadly you can not share from Goggles 3 to Goggles 2/Integra with O3 on the new firmware. If you are using goggles Goggles 3 you will need another set of goggles 3 to spectate. There is no sharing between goggles 3 and Goggles 2/ Integra or the other way either.
Well that sucks. It baffles me how difficult it is to spectate - even if people all have DJI stuff. Makes it so much harder to share the joy and fill in the minutes while charging. I really hope that they will add backwards compatibility at some point, the 2 and 3 cant be that different if o3 support is possible.
Not unexpected but disappointing. Many of us have ended with 2 goggles, 2 and 3 in my case, from buying the avata2. I'd hoped to be able to use for ride alongs. As it stands, I think the avata2 goes on ebay, nice camera and the motion control is great for handing to new users but I don't see myself ever picking up the Avata over one of my other options as the quad is just to low powered the fun is not there.
The Avata 2 was my first drone, and I'm hella excited for this update, because now I can buy more drones without needing to get another set of goggles or new controller.
I concur! Definitely still loving my V2s and I feel like I’ve gotten a ton of value out of them. Gosh, I’ve even seen new open-box V2 units selling for $350 US from a reputable online seller making it an absolute no-brainer for folks getting into the hobby.
With this FW update, DJI also fixed the goggles pass-through functionality, now it is 1:1 what you see by eyes zoom-wise, just the view is narrower, no zoom in effect.
Thanks a bunch for all the testing! Kinda happy to know g2 doesnt have better latency than g3, as I hate g2 (comfort, blurry edges) and really wouldve swapped anyways but sad we have lost 5ms in latency. Imo latency is very important for flight feel and flight performance (even when the changes get so small you dont actively notice, there will be moments where you would not have crashed with less latency).
Switched and saw that the grass isn't greener on the other side and lots of problems are also there to find 🤔😁 But for real, the customer the Google 3 are aimed at are mainly Avatar 2 pilots which mostly aren't flying bando or anything else where the Walksnail system would be better, cause of Latency and maybe low light capability. Those are mostly deeper into the hobby and are willing to get frustrated from CaddX 😁
That’s very good, and great video. The main things I am waiting for is: * Goggles 3 and Vista compatibility, and * Head tracking (up and down) on the Googles 3 with the FPV remote v3 on the Avata 2
great news for me, thanks Ian! i currently have the DJI Mini 4 Pro and with this news, i can finally get the goggles 3 when i start my fpv joirney, and i can ise it with my current mini drone. exciting!!! Cheers!
Thanks a bunch for all the info, Ian! 😊 Really curious the situation of the latency... Let's see what happens. Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks for this update Ian. I’ve been waiting for this. If the RC3 is a wireless connection to the Googles 3 does that mean if you had a quad with CSRF or ELRS you could use wither that remote or the RC3. I assume not. I haven’t had a chance to test yet or update to firmware
Thank you @MadRC ❤ Can you map the left hand wheel on the controller to control anything one the drone? Would be great to use it to control the g-port gimbal you’ve reviewed a while back. DJI remote has 16 channels if not more, but some aren’t being utilized (can’t see them in BetaFlight) as it seems 😂
I've been waiting what seems like months to buy a set of these for 03/04 support. I had hoped they would continue Vista support or at least replace it(1s is on my wish list!) but I can keep my integras around until that happens. Edit: forgot to mention there are quite a few sets on eBay from broken out avata 2 packages for 399 shipped.
Great video thank you! How much hassle is it switching drones please? I don't want to get lots of different controllers but if I wanted to use my RC3 with my Avata 2 AND my iFlight Nazgul for e.g, is it a pain switching between them please? Do I have to pair them every time, or will they connect seamlessly when one is switched off and the other on? (Obviously after the initial setup and pairing procedure). Thank you for any info!
@ukmonk Hello, did you try this? (sorry but my English is bad), I don't understand if every time you turn on a different drone you have to pair again, thank you
Yeah I have an iFlight Nazgul Evoque with the 03, all you have to do is go into goggles and switch to either Avata 2 or the 03 unit then you are good to go. Its really easy. Obviously you have to go through the initial paring of the googles and the controller but that’s just a one time thing. So go into goggles 3 menu, go to status and then select your drone 😊
Thank you! One more question please - is it possible now to broadcast a picture from DG v3 to the old DG v2 when flying on O3 unit? And more important - if I'll update my O3 unit (on Nazgul) - will I loose a possibility to use it with the old DG v2? Cause now I have the old DG v2 with Nazgul O3 and the new DG v3 with Avata2
Didn't you run into something like this before and it turned out to be an issue with your receiving antenna for the spectrum analyzer? Just spit balling here
finally.. probably still going to switch to walksnail (or something else?) soon, as I don't want to upgrade all my vista/airunit drones to o3, and I don't want to have to do the same consideration on the next dji digital generation to do with my o3 drones
The way you initially state all this makes it seem like the only way to use this is with O3, Goggles 3, AND Remote 3, as opposed to using a different receiver type. You cover this specifically after the 5 minute mark, but it was initially confusing. Who actually uses the DJI remote with non DJI drones anyways?
Hi Ian I have the goggles 2 I think not the v2 - not the most comfortable goggles. If I wanted to upgrade goggles knowing I can only use quads outfitted with o3 do you recommend goggles 3 or 2 or the integra?
Same problem here. Goggles 2 is close to unusable due to comfort issues. Tried 5 different sponges and they all end up trading vision for comfort. Slightest extra comfort and it's blurry and impossible to see most of the edges. End up with 50% of the screen usable.
Hi! I am new to fpv and I would like to complete my full set for digital flying. I want to start with pavo20 pro, dji o3, googles 3 and radiomaster boxer. Just want to make sure that all of it can work together and that it is a decent choice. What do You think?
@PSowa097 Hello, I am putting together the same configuration, is the Radiomaster Boxer better than the DJI RC3? At first I think so, especially if you arm it with Crossfire but the RC3 is linked to the DJI Goggles 3 (they have a special link where the controller does not control the drone but connects directly to the glasses) so it seemed to me which can also have a signal advantage, if you have information about it it would help me a lot, thank you. -dji goggles 3 -pavo 25 v2 gp12 naked -dji rc3 vs radiomaster Boxer
I have the Avata 2 motion controller 3 and controller 3. Can I use this setup for the DJI Racer? I have the Goggles V2 for the FPV but would like to use the goggles 3 for the OLED screen.
As someone who's used them, I would not let Mini 4 functionality sway your decision. It's really nothing to write home about and you're locked out of many important settings compared to using the included Mini/Air remote.
So the smaller drones I have with Vista is not compatible with Verson 3, no real reason to by version 3, so my V2 has limitation and goggle and controller 2 has limitation and the new goggles and controller has limitations, god need to build a chart for which works with which, not with my walksnakl. Already have 4 sets of goggles, need version 3 yet.. Wow my wife really thinks I am crash with all these different goggles and controller, HDzero looks interesting, but wow….. Great vide, I enjoy your work.
Can you test the AUTO frequency/channel feature of Avata 2 if it chooses before takeoff or even when already in the air always looks for the best one? Thank you
You can always choose to use your own remote on O3. DJI can’t stop you doing that. My comment of “you most use the DJI remote 3” is if you choose to use the DJI remote.
In my tests I have found that you cannot view a a broadcast of the O3 air unit from a Goggles 2 when that O3 is bound to another Goggles 3. This sucks because it hard to share the HD experience to other spectators unless they continually use the most updated gear. I see no technical reason that this was done other than to force consumers to buy new Goggles. An O3 air unit already binds and works with Goggles 2. An O3 air unit now also binds and works with the Goggles 3, however, there is not way for both a Goggles 2 and Goggles 3 user to share the same FPV feed
I am wondering if the o3 air unit sbus data would be sent from the motion 3 controller (the single hand remote that ships with the avata 2) or if you have to use the fpv remote v3
That's how dji makes a profit. When a new product is released, the performance of the old product will be reduced (via firmware update - downgrade actually). that's what actually happened since the release of dji phantom series. anyway, dji's early release products are actually the best & optimum performance 😀
Sadly i'm starting to think it's not coming. Maybe they can't get it passed. Or maybe they know they're gonna be getting banned, so they don't want to dump the money into it.
If you update to the new FW on my O3 and buy the G3s they will pair.. But after that will my O3 still have bind with my G2s. This is important to me. I still want to be able to use my G2s and G3s on my O3s that I own. If not Ill buy another G2 for back up. Whats your thoughts? Thanks Ian. Your the coolest guy in Wales.
It’s complicated as you can’t actually fully downgrade any DJI hardware. DJI don’t ever allow fully rolling back of all modules. So even when you downgrade there will be some modules that remain on the latest so it’s not even a good way to test. You literally need an older AU already on that fw. It’s the same for all DJI hw.
Question you did not answer is whether the 03 Air Unit will operate with the new 04 transmission protocol, or do the Goggles 3 and Remote Controller 3 "downgrade" themselves on this new firmware so they communicate with the 03 Air Unit with the older 03 transmission protocol?
@@MadRC I understand that the 04 hardware has a new RF modem, likely smaller and more power efficient, but the firmware or software that determines the actual "language" spoken by the new and old modems could conceivably be the same. The new channel in the 04 system and some better packet design should be able to run on the 03 air unit as it supports both 2.4 and 5.8 Mhz? Sorry, I'm not an engineer, so this is the best I can do to explain my question. Simply put, the hardware in 03 and 04 are different, but couldn't they conceivably run the same protocols?
All I really care about is whether I'll get better range and more rejection of interference on my 03 air unit when using the Goggles 3 and Remote Controller 3? That is what I understand that DJI claims on the 04 system.
DJI please give us the ability to broadcast from the 3 to the 2 goggles. Either wifi or cable. I want my client to experience the flythrough as I do it for them
Hello. Anyone having suddenly drop outs with the goggles 3 and the o3 ? I had 2 today video didn't come back and the quad returned with GPS rescue. I never had such a signal loss in the spot I was flying.
Hi Ian, on upto around 40 packs on my goggles 3 and still nothing to report. I've uploaded the Ham file to my goggles 3 sd card but I'm not sure how to get fcc mode unlocked 🤔 any help would be appreciated and I'll send you a coffee
@MadRC yes it's took mate. Got all the channels now. I really like the Dji goggles 3, I find them way more comfortable than G2s. Thanks for getting back to me buddy. Dronefest was awesome last weekend 🙌 👏 hopefully see you there 1 day.
Warning I have a problem don't make my mistake! I went and did all the updates and flying grate UNTILL I realized I did not have a Memory card in my new goggles. I cut the goggles off and removed the old card from my goggles v2 and installed then in my new goggles 3 then tried to fly. It flies fine but no more OSD at all even dji voltage is not working. I removed the sd card and steel no osd. Also its in low power mode and will not come out of that mode. Its like when I arm it does not recognize it at all. Everything worked perfect until I installed the sd card from my v2 goggles any idea. I'm going to do the firmware update again on the goggles 3 and the 03 air unit and let you all know the result.
Went back and did the refresh update to both goggles 3 and 03 air unit and it steel has no OSD from fettec fc our voltage from dji. About ready to burn this crap and move on!
Today I updated my djio3 and switched to the new dji goggle3 visors... terrible result, I lost the signal 2 times flying at the usual field that I know very well and where I usually never lose the signal with all ather my fpv drones and avata 1 and 2 too . Suddenly black screen from 30Mbts to zero and drone down on the ground. Very disappointed with this update.
@@LucasMartins-og3vg yes after updating the firmware on the Unit O3 and on the DJI Goggles 3 with the radio control too , I made some flights in the usual field where I usually work to test if everything was working well... so , when I pass near an area where I know there is interference, the drone disconnects, going from 30Mbts to zero, immediately. (witout any warning) I tried three times and it was always the same result “disconnected”. then the same test done by connecting the drone to the old goggles V2 following the same lines and despite lowering the signal a little from 30 it goes to 20 the drone does not disconnect. All test done in automatic channel and video recording 4K 120fps setup . really disappont with DJI
You mention that you can ONLY use Goggles 3 on the O3 air unit if you use the remote 3...repeatedly, but what if I use ELRS remote? You make it sound like the G3 doesn't work with O3 by itself, which is disappointing.
You have never been forced to use DJI remote. To how could they so this ? No im saying if you want to use a DJI remote I had to be the V3. I clear my state I don’t recommend any use DJI remote system any ways.
@@MadRC Great! Thank you for the clarification. I use O3 Air unit for planes in iNav flight (and my 5" FPV quad), and just sold my Integra goggles, so have been waiting/hoping they enable this direct support in Goggles3. I got really worried when watching your video and heard multiple times that the G3 ONLY works with the remote 3 (I understand they do NOT work with Remote 2, but the way you phrased it saying they ONLY work with remote 3 worried me greatly). Anyway, thank you for the clarification, and this is as I had hoped it functioned. Best Regards!
Man, looking at the comments makes me realize just how impossible it is to make you bastards happy! Personally, I think DJI should just stop working on FPV gear altogether and focus on camera and enterprise drones. There's literally nothing they will ever be able to do that'll stop this crowd from hating them.
@@neuromancer692 Sure, well...I wasn't keen on the price, but then, when I found out, on tear-down, that it had EVEN less actual stuff inside, I felt a little cheated - this was before we found out that it was only acting as an effective TV remote for the goggles 3, and not a radio, in any way, shape, nor form. Just a little galling, but that's ONLY my view. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest 😅
@@MrClydie_Po_Po Yeah, that's a very good reason indeed. I'm curious what they'll do with the O4 air unit if that ever comes out. I wouldn't put it past Dji to just not make it compatible with an external receiver.
@@neuromancer692 Or it'll take a very long time before they DO make it compatible with anything else. I suppose I should've realised this would happen. I was going to sell my Avata 2 set up with the goggles 3 and just stick to my gogs v2 for everything. I wanted to wait to see about compatibility with goggles 3. I might not wait to get rid of everything on the strength of this latest development. The picture's great on the gogs3 but who cares really? Know what I mean..
Still can not use it on a flying wing without a FC...all we need is "noarm" file in root and that should turn off the arming requirement. Simple fix !!!
@Mauronic100 the dji air unit needs to see an armed signal on its part serial line before it will go to full power out on the video. If no signal then it stays at 25mw which is good for 100m range.
I just updated my O3, goggles 3 and goggles integra and i connected my drone to the goggles 3 successfully, but i can't stream in audience mode to integra, is there a thing that i did wrong or is it just not possible?
As usual, they’re forcing people to buy a new controller when the controller that everyone already has is perfectly fine they just needed to give us the same firmware update💩
@@londenard I guess when you need a gallon of milk the companies don’t force you to go to the store and buy it so why don’t you go buy a cow and milk it yourself does that make sense to you?
