FEB 2023 - LATEST FIRWARE: • What's going on with t...
After 3 and a half weeks of making a really well-crafted review the day after it goes live DJI release new firmware which makes something that I say no longer accurate. This was after spending 2 hours talking in-depth with them about what is going on with the camera and what it was capable of!
As RU-vid won't let you replace videos and I wasn't going to lose all those lovely comments by re-uploading it, the only way to make sure people who watch my reviews have completely accurate info was by making this quick follow up.
When looking at the bitrate in the graphic showing 10 bit I blurred it after uploading as it was for a black image after updating so what it was showing wasn't correct. The bitrate is the same as 8 bit which is around 90mbps in 4K 24p etc H265.
Also, it should say 16.7 million colours for 8 bit, not 1.67. Typo!

Make sure you watch the full proper review here as this video covers only two things: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-35U93YnBmE8.html This is a typo in this where I say 8 bit is 1.67 million colours, it is 16.7 million. I also blurred the bitrate for 10 bit as that was for a black image so it wasn’t correct. It’s the same as 8 bit so around 90mbps. Make sure you watch until the very end...I do like my MCU post-credit scenes! Please remember my sense of humour when it comes to that scene! :)

It'll be interesting when they release the SDK for this model and apps like Litchi can get their hands on it allowing you to adjust the sharpness/contrast/etc. That combined with the now 10-bit capabilities seems like it's going to make this sub-1k drone a serious flying pro-ish camera. Oh a side note, Your reviews from a photographic and cinematic point of view is done extremely well and no skimping on the details of the review itself. It's definitely something for me to aspire to.

Hello Philip I have never seen such a beautiful and aesthetic video in ALL the drones posts I have seen for a long time...!! And VERY educative as well for the technics of the image quality. I have been flying a AIR2S for to years, and now just bought a mini 3 PRO (waiting for the delivery...). I would love to see from you a "best quality video tuto experience (image and shots effects)" with the mini 3 for those like me that are very familiar with drones, but who are lacking the "artistic gene" and video/image technic you have. Most cameras you can just turn off or adjust the noise reduction. DJI should include an option to turn it off, or control the intensity. Super excited about 10 bit tho!

You do realize making a statement like this when you're thrilled about something, of course but it will only serve to have Dji feel that they'd best not keep giving too much of a good thing, right. I mean say you're thrilled and happy etc , but please refrain from saying it's exceeding your expectations for a mini or sub 250 gram yada yada. Just a little friendly advice and imo, that which I'm sure most people struggling financially or maybe just frugal would agree... Ya don't need to suggest to a multi billion dollar co. to hold back features and or upgrades bro, they're pretty cheeky on not over giving anything away as it is so let's take what they're willing to provide without hollering out for a hard stop, lol. Happy flying regardless.

I don't own a drone. I don't intend to buy a drone. But I watched, and enjoyed, both of your reviews because your productions - your voice, your cinematography, your edits, your grades, your choice of music, your use of humor and your sheer enjoyment of your craft - are worthwhile regardless of the the actual 'subject' of your videos. I've been following you for years, mostly silently, and I have NEVER been disappointed by one of your videos. Look what happens when a Master deals with what is really worth the drones: The camera and the quality !! It is extremely interesting that Mr. Bloom, with his prestige and knowledge, "clarifies" these difficult issues. After deciding to deal with drones, I look forward to the presentation of other companies, e.g. Autel, for consistency, as it does with the cameras it presents (Canon, Sony, Nicon, etc). I say this with a lot of love and respect, I can not imagine that there is an exclusive contract with Dji ....❤️👌🇬🇷

Did you notice that the max shutter speed has been reduced to 2 seconds? Or at least that's what the manual says... Every other mini- even the original and SE had 4 seconds max shutter, all the airs- even the original had 8 seconds. It hasn't been as low as 2 seconds since the Spark more than 5 years ago! This is a bummer for long exposure and time lapses :(

AHHHHHHHH! This is like the drone I've been waiting for! 10-bit in a super small package!! Now they just need to allow for sharpness/noise reduction settings (off, of course) and it will be near perfect!

Yes, sharpness and noise red... I got mine yesterday and did quick video test at 4k D-cinelike 60p. Just blown own from the video quality and to be honest didn't expect that.

two excellent reviews. This news has swung it for me. Had ordered a Mavik-3 upgrading from Mavik 2 pro. But I'm thinking, the smaller size may be more valuable than the larger sensor. I'm a little puzzled.

I love the news update Philip. I think its become the norm to have outdated reviews with DJI, but it gives an opportunity do follow ups like this which add so much viewer value. So, I see it as a good thing. Just as long as you mention before hand that DJI always updates and that there will most likely be a revised review to you docureview with DJI drama show series. I think in future, ask for any special requests like 16K raw updates with your cats in frame next to you. The bro dudes at DJI will succumb with zero resistance. Thank you once again kind dude 😎 Also on a side note, I dont think DLog is necessary for the dynamic range capability of the Mini 3, as long as the D-Cinelike is closer to Dlog than it is rec709. I think its a good sweet spot 👌

I subscribed :) - 10bit (got overly excited), if DJI can now update the software to stop so many disconnections flying just under 1 mile away, this will truly be some piece of kit! :)
