This is the kind of review I've been looking for, thank you for it. I have a Mavic Air and use it only for photography (just not into video), but am at the point now where I need to upgrade. The Air 2 gets incredible reviews but it seems to still have a significant gap where I feel I need it most - low light. So in this regard the 2-Pro looks to be my choice, though I of course am hoping a 3-Pro will come out before my next big trip. While I would appreciate the slightly longer flight time of the Air 2 and its lower weight, having greater stability, more obstacle avoidance sensors and what seems to be a significantly better sensor makes the 2-Pro the option for me. I just wish it wasn't double the price ... .
Thanks for the great review. I am just starting to fly drones, but I am sort of a professional photographer (Canon Eos 7, professional Canon lenses) and I will be buying one to take pictures of motorcycle tests and for motorcycle touring stories. So picture quality and stability when hovering is important. Therefore I am leaning towards the pro. Expensive to start with, though. Will be buying in the Netherlands for obvious reasons, so can't help you there...
I went with the Mini to partner with my Pro. Apps like DroneLink make the Mini a very powerful camera. Granted, wind really affects the Mini but it is still a joy to fly.
Sold my mini for the air 2 glad I did. Got some good video with the mini but thw wind kept me from capturing what I wanted 50% of the time. I really like the flat color profile as well for better color grading
Excellent video. I have the MA2 and love flying it. I've only had it for 2 months and it's my very first drone. I love exploring a whole new perspective with it.
Mavic air 2 for the ones that want to take some photos? Uhh 🤷🏾♂️... Not because the air 2 doesn't have a variable aperture it doesn't mean the results are less good. Also, you forgot about the HDR mode for photos and videos with the mavic air 2, it definitely makes it a better deal compared to what's out there at the moment
I never use HDR mode on my drone, I find the raw DNG pictures (not jpeg), shot in manual and edited in Lightroom, beat any automatic or HDR mode shot picture (mine is the Mavic 2 Pro though I am lucky enough to have used both great drones). My conclusion would be that yes the Mavic 2 Pro takes better photos it doesn't quite justify twice the cost of the MA2.
I am super happy with my air 2. I started with the mini and still have it. Happy too 🤩. The air 2 is small and easy to carry, a good point. 😀. And still a lot of options to discover on the air 2. The automatic modes ares great 🤩
It seems to me that where as it (Mavic Air 2) doesn't tax an amateur drone flyer/photographer with too much tech and settings, it seems to provide a pleasant experience overall for the person who's been smitten with drone flying/photography. Thank you for your unbiased review..👏
The M2P may have a bigger sensor and aperture adjustments, but that does not make it a better camera. You seem to be hung up on these two features on the M2P and you left out so many more main features on the MA2. I have an Olympus DSLR, yet 95% of my pictures are taken with my iPhone!
Having flown both and edited raw images from both in Lightroom, the 2 Pro did take better media and the end results looked better when printed in A3. I think the video is spot on- the MA2 is like a high end smartphone and takes wonderful auto/jpegs, but the M2P provides raw DNG files which just process better in Lightroom. Whilst the sensor difference is obvious, I still feel there is a need for a bigger sensor than even the 1 inch on the Hasselblad.
I have been lucky enough to own a few DJI drones, and fly a few more, and the 2 Pro is superb- stable, quiet, rock solid and great picture quality (though for video you need good editing skills and equipment to squeeze the best out of it, but the end results are sublime). The portability of the Air 2 looks good - and it is a handsome drone, but for me the raw images (not the jpegs) for Lightroom editing are just better on the 2 Pro. Also, and I may be wrong here, the 2 Pro has more sensor resiliency (2x IMUs for example) in case something goes wrong, however I could be wrong here and the Air may have two as well, I am not sure. Both are superb aircraft, the best in their class, but for image quality yes, I would always bag the 2 Pro. Until the 3 comes out...
More megapixels does not equal an increase of quality. Phones are coming with 100+MP cameras and a 12MP iPhone makes them look bad. I don’t play into numbers.
@@ditchauto Who said anything about quality? You were reviewing the drone and didn't mention it at all. If you think it's just hype then you you should have shown examples. There are countless reviews on this drone which all agree the 48mp trick does work. You don't play the numbers but reply with 100mp this and 12 mp that? You get what you pay boss, the MP2 is twice the price. It should be better in every way.
