Great video. And remember: if you save the flights (flight plan) and use it later. You need to takeoff from the same position (or actually, the same altitude) as on the first flight. Otherwise your height will be wrong. The height is based on the takeoff position on the current flight.

First of all you have made a very good video, i haven’t tried waypoints yet but have seen multiple videos like urs, the way to edit POI you have to zoom in so the mark of POI gets bigger and u can select it easily, second thing about the jittery movements of your cameras towards POI, there is a reason for that in your second mission you selected route type Polyline instead Arc, if you have selected Arc then Camera movements also gets smoothers, try that way i hope you find it helpful, for offline waypoint DJI released an iPad app way 2 years back and in that you can do that, great tutorial keep up the good work 👌🏻

Great video. Not sure if this is an improvement they've made, but, I connected, powered up drone, etc. Began "planning". Then powered off the drone and was able to continue planning the waypoints. So that might be a solution ... saving some drone battery while planning.

agree, should be an seperate app with map you could save waypoint missions and upload when you want, and should be more futures in each waypoint and also curved waypoints not only stright lines whitch make the flight floppy

2 years since this video, I too cannot select a POI without adding others. I have the smart controller. I also agree that having the ability to sit in your favorite recliner and plot out waypoints without having to have the drone powered on is a no brainer feature. Yet, not available 2 years since this video was posted.

Agreed, the jerky motion of the camera using POI makes the mode almost worthless. Also note: if you take off from a hill or rooftop, you cannot set the POI at a negative altitude (though I have heard you can set a waypoint at a negative altitude if you fly it first and use the C button to set the waypoint.) Offline mode would be great and I'd also like to set the course on my iPad, sync it, then load it onto my phone for the actual flight. Thanks for the video.
@TheKSpot
@TheKSpot 5 лет назад
That’s interesting about negative height, had not thought of that, should be an option that you have kind switch on otherwise people will moan about crashing there drones. The offline mode is what I want and yes doing it on an iPad and downloading it to a phone is an awesome idea.
@tarjeilundarvollen3143
@tarjeilundarvollen3143 5 лет назад
Its because you are NOT setting an altitude. You are setting a height. And remember if you are setting the waypoints on a flight, save the flight plan, and use it another day, with another takeoff location. Your heights will be wrong (since it is saving heights, not altitude)
@johnnicholson8345

awesome job. Clear and concise. I too would think being able to create an elaborate waypoint would be best to do offline. That's 10% of your battery before even taking off.

When you spoke about arc you didn't mention adjusting the turning radius, when in arc each waypoint has a turning radius option and is adjusted by the usual sliding your finger on the screen, what this radius does is it rounds off the corners when the drone passes a waypoint, the "bug" you refer to is the drone travelling in a straight line to a waypoint then stopping to change direction before continuing to the next waypoint, by adjusting your turning radius at each waypoint you create curves through the corners and a smooth transition between the waypoints and the drone can continue flying smoothly.
@Pplovrprofit2734
@Pplovrprofit2734 3 года назад
But if a waypoint is set to a specific POI the radius can't be adjusted or am I missing something?

Not sure as this is a yr on but if you start editing with waypoints with the Mavic 2 powered on, power down without exiting the ‘mission’ & it still works. Not draining the drone battery 👍👍

You can still fly and use button c to record the waypoints as you could with the old mavic. As well as using the map. I found button c optipn useful with trees around after almost hitting one sideways. Opps. So i flew the misson on my own. Missing the trees and recording it with button c and then saving. Also not a great idea to get too close to things. Gps can be slightly out. And you end up hitting something on the flowing flight of a mission.

I set up my daily way point missions at home and save the missions in the app, then I recharge all my batteries so that when I get to the site I just load the missions I programed at home. Try upping the gimbal smoothing parameter... This should rid you of that jello happening with the POI mode. You may have your gimbal smoothness lower and this will cause this to happen... As far as planning flights offline, there IS an app for this... Its called Lichi for DJI...

Hi, thanks, did try gimbal setting, still had the problem. It only happened in waypoints mode. POV mode was fine and yes I use litchi too, Same problem. The recent firmware update though fixed this. Now it’s fine. Taken them 8 months, but it is now very smooth.

Yes I had that, but arc mode stopped that, but you don’t always want to use arc mode, depends on what you are doing. I did a video on pull backs using waypoints, this was in a straight line, so arm mode worked nicely there

How to Get An Awesome Drone Pull Back Shot Using DJI Waypoints 2.0 for the Mavic 2 Series ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lHZzopwz9Ak.html

Arc mode doesn't change the way the camera moves as told in the video. It changes how the drone flies (smoothen the curves) and makes the movement in the turning points smooth. Waypoint 2.0 is a garbage for sudden flickers in the footage, Litchi used to be better. Unfortunately the issue is in the DJI firmware and Litchi relies on that, therefore Litchi has the same issue now. It used to be flawless last year. DJI should fix it by a firmware update. I'm not very hopeful as waypoints was ready by the launch of the Mavic2 and for testers the drone was shipped with it, then for the commercial version they've disabled it. Strangely enough, the testers did not have the flickering issue in their footage last year September.

51 Drones has a good video on this... the solution to the jitter is to use a BUNCH of waypoints so the camera adjusts at each one. There's a bit more to it to get it perfect, but basically you have to do a workaround. Yes, the tech should solve this, and most likely will in a future update, but for now there's a way to make it more useable.
@muzikmon2267
@muzikmon2267 4 года назад
That's really cool you don't have to fly and do your mission first with waypoints but there's also a disadvantage.. I know they have obstacle avoidance but think about it wouldn't you want to know if there's anything in your way kind of know how the scene is going to look first before you do and record your way points. At least you know you're not going to hit anyting so I think it's a good practice 2fly where you're going to fly in a circle first.. ;)

Your description of "route type" is incorrect. In both modes the aircraft smoothly rotates to maintain camera angle. The difference is how the aircraft approaches the waypoint. In "arc" the drone will begin the turn before the waypoint, effectively flying an arced turn. In "polyline" the aircraft flies to the waypoint, rotates and flies to the next waypoint.

I left the DJI product line behind. They went from innovation To profit care and being first. Worst support Ever. I ended up going with FREEFLY Systems. The downside to them is that you’re not going to find a “prosumer” drone for $1800-2000 like the Mav2. Won’t happen. However theirs is forever. No worry about the latest right after you just bought. Theirs is forever. So I spent $9000. But I can carry my GH5, or my back magic cinema camera and I don’t have to deal with DJI and their “latest” and greatest they’ve held onto for 3 years. Then launch a year after. And what do we do? We buy that one. So you see you’ve spent several times what I spent just once. DJI cameras can never compete with a black magic 6k. Never. Maybe one day but that will cost ya. Basically what they do is. Whilst the Mavic 2 pro came out there was already a new version to that waiting in the wings. So you see really by the time you deal with their GREED. You can have one drone forever. I’ve spent at least $7000 on multiple drones over the years with DJI. Easily.. why not go for something DJI could never touch or out do. So I went further and blew $14,000 on an Alta 6. Which can carry a small dog. Not that I have.

I had no confidence. so I abundant the mission and pressed RTH. If RC had lost signal how can it still communicate with Drone to receive the signal to tell the drone RTH. Please advise.
@TheKSpot
@TheKSpot 5 лет назад
Sorry this went in to spam comments, only just seen it. The default settings is if the drone loses signal with the controller it will return to home point which it stores in its memory. The drone will always know like the controller when it loses signal. On waypoints you set it to fly the mission then return to the home point. This is uploaded to the drone at the start of the mission and stored on its internal memory. I can confirm it works as it was a very weak signal when it went behind the temple and it carried on. You tell just to return home if it loses signal. I had a couple occasions when’re signal has dropped at its returned to home. The drone

Imagine the ability to use as a messenger between two destinations, where both sides have a controller to launch the same drone on a mission: The one sends it to deliver and the other returns it after receiving the message / package.
@TheKSpot
@TheKSpot 5 лет назад
Ok yes it’s possible, but depending on where you live, you have to keep the drone in line of site. Not sure if DJI including this was wise, as depending on who you talk to, if you can’t connect to the drone then it is probably not in line if site therefore not safe Having said all of that, there is nothing stopping you have it fly from point a to b. It will continue to fly with out been connected to the controller. Not sure you can have two controllers paired with it, so you would have to go through the pairing stage at both locations every time the drone turned up. Also I would have some extra gps tracking on it.

You have to watch out for your settings mostly after any update. I've lost a drone in a mission where signal was lost but I wasn't worried much as I had set it to continue the mission in case of lost signal. Unfortunately a Litchi update came out a few days earlier which I did but forgot to check the settings and of course the update changed the settings so the drone either landed upon lost signal or hovered but I didn't know where it was.

Why do you waste so much time before you get into the tutorial? Just get rid of all the stuff and tell us the information please. You didn’t show how to adjust gimbal pitch, etc. which is done by scrolling your finger on the screen. And I agree with you about their customer service being totally ignorant and they don’t think about what they’re releasing until many firmware updates later.

Thanks for the feedback, but I do mention gimbal pitch and how to adjust it in the first mission, also most of the other basics. I have another one planned on how to do missions where the height is negative and few of the more advance stuff like using the C1 button. Also how to do pull back shots with it, which it’s pretty awesome for.

@@TheKSpot You are speaking just fine. I usually watch YT videos at 1.5-1.75 -2.0 so you are just fine. (thedcfgrp) can use the slower speeds. LOL :)
