The new DJI Mini 4 has some very impressive features. It has inherited a lot of the features that used to be only be on the Mavic and Air series of drone. Great review Shawn, you covered everything I could think of. And it's great that still uses the same batteries from the Mini 3 series. Thanks for sharing.
Shawn...this is hands-down one of THE BEST demo videos I've watched on RU-vid...and I've watched MANY. I was seriously considering purchasing the Mini 4 Pro based upon a lot of research I've done, and you sealed the deal for me with this video. I just ordered one including the 2-year DJI Care Refresh policy. Thanks very much for doing such a professional job!
Thank you for an in-depth look into the DJI Mini 4 Pro. I bought the Air 3 when it came out and kind of wished I had waited and saved some money with the Mini 4. Now I'm not regretting the purchase of the Air 3 because it is a fanominal drone in its own right. I am just a hobbyist drone operator and really enjoy flying them. Thanks again and I really enjoy your channel.
Just got my mini 3 pro back in July😢 I hope some of the software features trickle down to the mini 3 pro in future firmware updates. But down the road, this is something I will consider purchasing. Shout out to DJI for keeping the price down and having the same batteries and compatibility with older controllers if needed. Love the footage of signal hill with the mini 4 pro. Looks awesome. Hope you enjoyed your stay here. 👊
@@AirPhotographyIs this going to give a mavic 3 a run for its money. It has so many good features and I can’t see that many extra stuff the mavic 3 has compared to it, is the mavic 3 still worth the extra 2 grand.
When I woke up this morning I never imagined I would order a Mini 4 today and be putting my fantastic 3 up for sale but this new drone has the only 2 things I want extra, 360 obstacle avoidance and better signal.
Thanks Shaun.. excellent review! My DJI Mini 4 Pro arriving tomorrow..and your video is VERY helpful. (Also watched your expanded review👍👍) Keep up the good work! Bill Minnesota
Thank you for the review Sean! You just changed my mind from getting a discounted Air 2s to the Mini 4 Pro. More features & more versatility with the Mini 4...
Yes, speaking in front of the camera still fairly new to me. I got a lot to learn. I still find it a little uncomfortable but I’m getting more comfortable with it every time. I appreciate the feedback.
So glad I found this; By far the best summary of the Mini 4 Pro and helped me make my decision to buy! Clear, concise, and brief! Earned a subscribe from me!
I've been in the video production business for over 40+ years. This man is an excellent teacher, with zero drama and direct to the point. No hipster BS.
Awesome Vlog Shaun!! As always, you've done us all proud with another epic, detailed and informative review. What an exciting array of new features it has too. I am in UK, currently still own a Mini 1, it would appear a massive leap forward to a Mini 4 - would you recommend it?? Take care and all the best.
@@gtiguy1992able same, I’m getting great use outta my M3P still so it’s hard to justify. Only on occasions that I’m downtown & my signal is weak that I almost impulse buy the M4P 😂
Thank you very much and yes, indeed it’ll be a great choice for those looking to get into the hobby. A nice, small, easy to fly drone with all the pro features included.
Nice to see that the batteries are compatible with the Mini 3. What about the other parts like propellers? Do you know if the Mini 3 props are compatible as well?
The fuck? How is the Mini 4 pro out already and I missed it??? Wow. This has some epic features! Man makes me wanna upgrade to another drone bc now my mini 2 seems like outdated af technology
Mini 3 batteries are actually heavier than mini 4 batteries so while they are physically compatible, using a mini 3 battery in a mini 4 drone will push the mini 4 over 250g
Hello Shawn. First of all, greetings from here in the Arctic Circle (from Finland). I recently bought a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone. I plan to use it to film videos for my You Tube Channel "Vihonviimeinen Mohikaani", where I present my life here in Finland surrounded by Arctic nature. before getting a drone, I looked for good instruction videos on how to fly a drone on You Tube. I think your videos were the best. Now I have flown and filmed with my drone quite a bit and with your instructions it has been very easy. So thank you very much for the very clear and good instructional videos. In the future, there will be a lot of drone videos on my You Tube channel, also "extreme winter test" videos.
What a great review, Shawn. But it makes it harder for me to try to ignore this and just stay happy with my Mini 3 Pro. Darn those developers at DJI!! //Tom
Great review!! Perfect timing as I just lost my ‘old’ Air2. Tried to order direct during the release this morning but they’re not shipping yet. Thanks!!
As of yet, it’s not compatible. But I’m sure it will be soon. Today they just made the air 3 compatible with the goggles. And it’s been been out for about seven weeks. So I’m assuming it’s just a matter of time before they introduce the firmware to make it compatible
Hi Shawn ,just got my fist drone, Mini 4 pro,. im in Canada as well, love the video, please tell me where this amazing location is that you are flying at in the video?
Great review, as always. Did you happen to check and see if it had trouble flying at legal height but at higher than legal such as flying over and up a mountain or tower?
I always look for your new reviews thank you ! P.S. I just watched another video, I won't link to it because it takes somebody away from your channel, but the reviewer weighs the new mini 4 pro with a mini 3 pro battery and it comes to ⚠251 grams. So it could pose a problem if you are a stickler for exact weights. Not sure if anyone checking on somebody would care, but who knows. The title of that video I just watched is : DJI Mini 4 Pro vs Mini 3 Pro - Physical comparison -- but I won't give a link - just RU-vid it and you'll see it. ( Goto about 3:25 into that vid ) -- I had a really funny feeling that DJI would add more sensors because of everyone asking for them, and bingo, they did just that, this here looks to be a drone that will last a few years, it now has complete sensor avoidance.
Very interesting. I’m still on the road and I have no access to a scale so I can’t test that myself but it is something I will definitely look into. Thank you for pointing that out.
@@AirPhotography You're welcome. I look forward to when you get home and do the same test. Hi scale did seem accurate, but a second test would be great. Thanks for taking the time to reply and I love your channel. I hope you do some more stuff with the new DJI 4 mini Pro drone. I want one, but wow the price tag in Canada with 14% tax added on - ouch ouch ouch !
First off...love the scenery there....damn i miss the Maritimes! Just seems to me not enough of a leap for DJI to get my $ on this one...I've donated allot to them the last few years haha... I'll most likely be skipping this one and keep the Mini 3pro/Mavic 3 lineup for a while. Then I again I swore I'd never buy the Avata and I did...a few months ago...still siting in the box...need to fly that one
Unfortunately, no at this point they’re not compatible. But that could change with a firmware update. If that doesn’t need to be the case, I will definitely make a video about it.
I currently have a Mini 2 with the RC-N1 controller, and I use the Drone Mask 2. I am getting set to upgrade to the Mini 4 pro. I have to decide if I am going to get the RC-N2 or the RC 2 controller. If I get the RC 2 controller, I can't use my Drone Mask. The main reason I got the Drone Mask 2 was so I could see the screen of my phone in daylight. How does the screen on the RC 2 compare to a phone screen? If I stop using the Drone Mask, will I be able to use the RC 2 in bright sunlight, or will I be looking for a shady area to fly from again?
Hello Shaun, thank you again for your comprehensive review. I have learned that the max altitude of the Mini 4 PRO is limited to 120 m.(at least in Europe). Being in a mountain area, this is a bad limitation... Do you confirm?
This is off topic but I wonder if you know the answer to this issue. How I can set the height on my Mini 4 Pro to 50 feet instead of the default minimum of 65 feet? Asked for LAANC permission and it said I could fly up to 50 feet then was unable to fly. The drone defaults to a minimum of 65 feet.
Impressive as always with DJI, I will just keep my Mini 3 Pro as it is still a great drone. If i was looking for a first drone this would be it with the sideways sensors.
Indeed, the mini 3 pro is an excellent drone. For some people, the features will be worth the upgrade for others. It’s stuff they won’t really use anyways so not worthwhile.
I got one yesterday... just opened it and haven't been able to test it properly. It's my first drone. But what I did notice though is that it gets super hot even in stand by mode. Is this normal?
I'm watching this video on my 60 inch 4k TV and I noticed some hitching and stuttering in the drone clips. 4:02 , for example, the water seems to be skipping frames or lagging. You can really see the stuttering in the ocean waves of the 0:20 shot. I have a hard time seeing it when watching the video on my Pixel 8 Pro but I can still see a very subtle stutter, it's just softened or something. I did not notice it in the 2:51 shot. So, what's going on here? Is it RU-vid? Did something happen in the edit or when the video was rendered? Or does the video come out of the drone with this issue?
It won't, flight higher in Europe, unless hacked in the future. In accordance with the new European Drone Regulation that will come into effect on 1 January 2024, DJI's Mini 4 Pro will be launched with a C0 class identification label and therefore be restricted to an altitude limit of 120m that cannot be increased in any scenario as in the C0 class no certificate of knowledge or drone licence is required and the only technical solution to be compliant with the regulation is the limitation from the starting point. It's disappointing that the camera and sensor are still the same. If they had upgraded to the stacked sensor, I'd upgrade from my Mini 3 Pro. But with the same camera and sensor, I'll wait for a Mini 5 (or an Air 3 S that might have a 1 inch sensor).
I have a return to home video coming soon. It’s actually very accurate because this is the first mini drone to have precision landing like the more expensive drones.
Yes, indeed there was a firmware update for the air 3 this morning as well that will make the controllers compatible, so if you end up buying it, you only need one controller to fly both
