I just got my new DGI MINI SE earlier today & have’nt unboxed yet haha need to review some videos b4 i,m going to touch since it,s my first time having a drone
You should have not opened it and returned it and bought the mini 2 My se has almost zero range Where there are buildings And it also has no zoom I had the se 4 days Used 2 times and bought mini 2
Warning for everyone who think about buying DJI drones. There is a lot of hidden traps before you actualy can fly... First at all you need to "activate" your drone trought DJI fly app, so if you are somewhere without good internet connection your drone will stay down. Furthermore there is big list of mobile phones and tablets on which DJI FLY not working, and last but not mean least, every time when you upload firmware manufacturer probablly take all your flying data and you get new firmware with all sorts of possible glitches and bugs which can make your drone fly very unpredictable. If you know how to hack all of this crap do it, if not find some cheaper and less "smart" option.
You sound like a middle school educational video speaker but you've actually taught me so much gosh darn it thank you man maybe I should have listened more to my videos in school lol
Just got my mini se today in process of charging and updating for first flight tommorrow, this is one of many videos i watched to familiarize myself with first flight. Video is top notch thanks!
Hi, I have my first drone on the way and your videos have been so helpful! I was wondering if you had any videos or could do any videos on how to avoid or how to get out of sticky situations? For example if you're flying and all of a sudden, the wind gets bad, how to return to home safely? Or what if the ground beneath you has become wet, can you land it safely in your hand? I'm hoping to fly this on some cliff tops for some ocean and climbing videos, do you have any advice? Cheers!
Ooh, fun idea. Thanks for your comment. Re: the cliff-top flying, definitely be mindful of much stronger winds. I was on a cliff flying over the ocean once, and the wind was so powerful I couldn't bring the drone back at my altitude of 150-200 ft. over the ocean. So I had to drop the drone down to 15-20 ft and was able to get back to the cliff that way. Footage was worth the scare!
Hi, I have the DJI MINI SE and a few weeks ago it gives me an error and it won't let me take it off, it says "It can't take off (Code: 30226)". Someone did the same? I can't fix it.
Hi Juan, thanks for your comment. Did you have a rough landing? Are the propellers installed correctly? Could be a few issues, I'd recommend reaching out to DJI support directly - www.dji.com/support
I realize this is an older video but I was curious if you remember what phone or pad you used for this video. I love the larger size screen compared to my iPhone. Thanks for any info. Your videos are very instructional. Thanks.
These are excellent videos. I have been flying drones for many years but I am just jumping back in after a couple of years break. I will get the SE and maybe upgrade to the mini 3 if it gets released. I found the unboxing and this video really informative as a refresher. Clear and concise.
I love your vids I can't wait to get mine in the air thanks for doing what you do for free once I get mine going I will pay for your course I can't wait to fly.... Thanx for what you do
I shoot videos in Washington and was thinking about getting this drone but was wondering if the weight changes any regulations or if that's kinda a misconception?
Hey Emilio, great question. It depends if you are shooting videos for recreational or non-recreational purposes. If recreational only, then you wouldn't technically need to register this model with the FAA. If you're flying for non-recreational / commercial purposes, then regardless of the weight you would need to 1) register your drone (instructions in this other video we put together - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qZKraZd62c0.html) and 2) get your drone pilot license from the FAA (more information on that process over here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dH7XFcOq7dY.html). I hope this helps!
Hey Frank, it's just my phone being used, with the cable that comes with the drone. More info on the set-up in this other video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-llYOJnnFM-o.html
Ken great Mini SE series you have started. I am a beginner. I'm basically a Wanna Be pilot since my childhood. This is my first serious drone. It is on order. I have flight experience over the years including training in certified fixed wing aircraft and hours years ago in FAA Part 107 Ultralight fixed wing in the USA and more recently powered paraglider aircraft in Europe. :)) I am waiting to see if the Drone will satisfy my itch to fly more. Thank you for this series. Question. I understand this drone is under 250 grams. Therefor, it does not have to be registered. Correct? But, do I need to do the Part 107 test before I can fly legally?? Your videos are very helpful! Question. Do you ever use a Tablet instead of a phone? Happy Holidays! Best Regards, Rock
Congrats on your purchase, Rock! Powered paragliding has been on my list of things to try :) You are correct that if you are simply flying for recreational purposes, this model does not need to be registered. But you'll want to go through the FAA's free (and quick!) TRUST training: uavcoach.com/faa-recreational-drone-training/ - if you plan to fly for non-recreational purposes, then you can go through the Part 107 certification process. And yes, I do like the larger screen size of a tablet, but with this remote control it requires an adaptor since a tablet is a little too big for the native controller. So most of the time, I like to travel light and am used to the phone screen. Hope this helps and please stay in touch with questions as you begin flying!
@@uavcoach I am seeing so much negative videos about FAA rules, local ordinances and disgruntled people hostile to drone pilots, I am hesitant to even open the box on my new Mini SE. I have PIE Class D airspace here at home. I have Albert Whitted Airport near in St. Petersburg. 27 municipalities here in our county with small police departments. Should I even start this hobby? If you were living in my area as a new hobbyist, would you open the box?
@@rockoneal7621 Would need to know your exact address to double-check the airspace. If you're unable to get authorization through LAANC to fly at your own house (which is always annoying!), I'm sure there's some kind of local park or field or parking lot where you can fly! Shoot us an email at support (at) dronepilotgroundschool (dot) com with your address and we can double-check the rules for you.
@@uavcoach Hi Coach. I have checked with two apps. Also, I had a Piper Lance at PIE for years. My home is in Class D. I am sure. On your website you point out two parks outside of controlled airspace as the best places near me to fly, Sunset Park in St. Pete and Fort De Soto Park. Great locations if still legal. Before flying there, I would double check the local ordinances, county and state rules. Some advise to avoid run ins with other citizens, prepare, fly and leave quickly. So, is drone flying like flying the Lance for an hour? It feels like I will spend more time preparing for the drone flight, traveling, shutting down completely and traveling home than flying. Is that the way it is? Just asking. I am happy for all the drone pilot who live in less congested areas. I can see they smile. :) Thank you again. You are really helpful to us as beginners. Best regards, R
Hi Jason, it's an iPad Mini! Multiple models work with the Mini SE, but anything larger than a Mini needs an additional accessory to make the larger screen fit the controller. The size of the iPad Mini fits perfectly in the remote control.
Got this drone in South Africa and here are key points based on our 20th Flight 1. Flight time between 20-25 minutes 2. Its very good to resist wind and remain stable 3. Camera is decent and Video quality and photos are decent for 12MG 4. Flight is good for this Drone with different flight Modes 5. It works well with Iphone over other phones
Excellent video, it helped me today as I flew for the first time my drone! Where did you buy the cable that connects the Remote to the phone? The ones that come with the drone is short and does not fit my iPhone with the case attached. Thanks!
I have the dji mini se I just purchased and was wondering exactly what landing pad do I get for it? Thank you & great video. Very helpful being my 1st time purchasing a drone.
There are many cheap landing pads on Amazon! You can't go wrong, they are all pretty similar. Because the Mini SE is so small, you don't need a big one. I'd get the smallest size you can.
Just got mine the other day absolutely amazing. Flying around my neighborhood. Was stupid the other night during very windy 100% cloud coverage went up to 450ft started only with an 85%. Got rth warning but was unable to fight the wind was going further away. Lowered it and slowly made my way but wasnt able to make it. Got it landed about 5 houses down on the sidewalk. Felt so dumb. Defs learned my lesson.
@@uavcoach the only reason I was so high was because we only have a small municiple airport about 15kms from my place that really does VFR only restriction is 5.5km radius around the airport. Checked flight radar absolutely nothing. Also flight traffic has a restricted minimal of 2000ft when flying over the city due to radio towers over 1000ft. Sitting in my backyard in a subdivision with many houses trees and larger 7 plus story buildings 5 and more blockes away I am still able to make it close to 2kms from my place. Still get alittle sketchy when low single over the lake 2kms from my house and cuts out. But I gaining more trust that It will come back also at that point I turn around by the gps if frozen and make my way back until single come back and I can actually see what I am doing again lol.
I watched several UAV Coach videos, found great information on them and subscribed immediately. I have been looking through your library but have not found anything on the equipment that you use. Specifically the very large phone and longer cable. I have a sight issue and cant see small text well. this looks as though it would help with out having to constantly move reading glasses to view the screen and remove to view the drone. It there an equipment video or description somewhere where you list this or discuss this?
Hi Mike, not a specific video to point you to, but a great question and something hopefully we can help you with. What drone are you flying? I can recommend some specific options.
What's the true FR/FT on the mini you got? It's my next one to get, but I heard it was a superb drone for 300 bucks with a great camera. Is that true? Because if not I'm not buying it.
Hi Tommy, sorry not understanding what FR/FT means? We are enjoying this drone thoroughly! The Mini 3 should come out in a few weeks, so maybe wait until that to better understand how the different Mini models stack up.
I've bought my first drone. And don't have clue on how to get start operating it. Do I have to download an app to use my dji se? And if so which would you recommend for me to get started? . Thanks in advance.
Yes, download the DJI Fly app and make sure to go through the FAA's recreational flyer (TRUST) training. We are an approved provider. It takes about 20 minutes, very easy! More info here - uavcoach.com/faa-recreational-drone-training/
