So is it only for android? I have an SE it was my first drone I loved it I upgraded to mini 2 now I hope I’ve upgraded to the nano plus but that remains to be seen yeah very mixed comments on the nano plus and that is one of the features I bought the nano + for The active track 2.1 which is not available by the way if you look very very very closely at the ad. the obstacle avoidance which is quite obviously what you need when you are active tracking yourself
is this in retail or public beta I don't think you mentioned it enough in your video again, is this in retail or public beta I don't think you mentioned it enough in your video
This was a "break through" video for me. I didn't realize my Mini SE had this capability. I will be responsible for training Civil Air Patrol cadets here in the US this summer. While we use the $10,000-$30,000 drones in the Wing and Squadron, knowing that I can practice the same route searches, etc. on my economical Mini SE in amazing. Thank you very much! Lt. Morrey
Thank you for the support Lt. Morrey! I appreciate your support. If you’re looking for some more tips and guidance then I have more resources here: linktr.ee/danstubetv It could also be great to discuss having my drone course offered to your cadets. Do you see my drone course being of value to them: www.fearlessdrone.academy
Loving the video, then all of a sudden realise your in the park at greenslopes/stones corner! Awesome to see my local area from up high, this is exactly the kind of stuff I'm wanting to film! Thank you :)
Best video I found since I bought my Dji se. Just bought the 25$ app. Hope it’s the right one. “Litchi for DJI drones” Can’t wait to try it out in the morning.
Need to know for sure that Lichi is compatible with DJI MINI 2 Se - I read that it was not - Also what RC are you using and is it compatible with the MINI 2 SE
Quick question- what do you do with the controller when it's following you? Can't really hold it when you're on a bike, wouldn't it get interfered with if it's in a bag?
It is awkward to hold the controller while on a bike but you can do it. Check out some of my recent Litchi videos. You can definitely put the controller in the bag though, that will be fine 🎒
Just downloaded the app for iOS and I'm stoked to try it out! I bought my Mini SE about 3 months ago and have been waiting for the weather to get nicer (Northern hemisphere). Definitely going to try the controller tracking with the Voice recording, I hope it works with Bluetooth mics.
Looking forward to hearing about your experiences. The iOS version for Mini SE is still in beta but you can expect a public release in the coming weeks.
Such a great vid, thanks for sharing! I had no idea you could use different software on these drones. I'm brand new to DJI just got a mini se for Christmas! :)
How exciting, if you search my channel for Dronelink and Maven - you will find even more software that can interface with DJI drones. I designed the ultimate drone course for beginners and packed all of my insights and knowledge into 1 course, if you need anymore help along your drone journey then this is the place to go: www.fearlessdrone.academy 👈
Hey bud fairly new to flying and have had some time with my 1st gen SE I purchased last year. Glad I stumbled on this! Just want to know how the application is added to your control screen and does it add it's own icon to open it?
Thanks for the video, very helpful! I just got a Mini SE as my first drone and I am very interested in using mainly the following mode and the panorama photo mode, which unfortunately is not available for the SE in the DJI Fly app. My only concern is that I don't want to spend £21,99 and ending up not really liking the app. Is there a trial version anywhere? I would love to use it for like 7 days and make up my mind after that, but I cannot find a trial option anywhere
I contacted Lichi and they confirmed that a refund will be given within 7 days if unhappy. I am new to drones and downloaded the Lichi app and love it. Also, I only have a cheap 32 bit phone that the DJI app wont support but it works perfectly with Lichi.
You have to cache the maps while you are at home on wifi, alternatively you can hotspot to your phone while you’re out and about. The other features will work without wifi or cellphone service 📱
I can’t get the mini se to connect to litchi and when I research it I find that Dji don’t provide support in their SDK for the se (whatever that means). Any idea how I connect it to litchi? Very frustrating cos I love the drone but need it to have more features.
So it does have the waypoint & follow me mode? I'm in the market for a drone this mini SE is in my top 3 but since I couldn't find this info I've been waiting to buy.. does it also have the GPS location if it gets lost to find?
Yes! The Mini SE connects to satellites and can return to home if it loses connection with the controller. I have some awesome drone bundles available here: www.d1store.com.au/mobile/category/danstube If you want the Mini SE then you can use the code DANSTUBE when shopping through the D1 Store.
Ok the app I’m using with my DJI mavic mini se does not have the option to follow or waypoint. DJI fly app. Do I need a different app for this to work?
Hi, how do I use the Lichi app, is it instead of the DJI App? Now is april 2022, has the beta version been upgraded to an public app? Great turtorials on Your site
Great drone, just loved it, bought mine last month. But yesterday, i had my controller fully charged and with 2 leds left, it started to sound for low RC battery, 1 second after i brought the drone back and shut it off, the controller shuts off. Idk if the controller needs some calibration but its the seconds time this happens... Last time it happened while on flight and the drone returned automatically. Luckly i was able to turn the rc back on and land normally but then it shut off again... So weird
Great Video! Lot's of good information as always. I was wondering if waypoints could be created while flying the drone in real time? Getting the exact position you want and then just clicking the screen where your drone is and adding a waypoint. Thank you Robert
You could use waypoints to replicate the same shot of a house, business or building being developed. You could create the exact same movement for a day and night scene if you want to film some real estate videos, or you could even document the changes in an environment/ecosystem over time.
Great video, although I'm a little confused at something, at 1:18 your using the SE controller but at 14:08 your using the Mini 2 controller? Is the mini 2 controller compatible with the SE or did you use both the SE & Mini 2 for the video? Thanks
No, the controllers are not compatible with different drones 🎮 My editor placed some footage in from a Mini 2 video accidentally. All of the screen recordings and matching drone footage was captured on the Mini SE 🚀
Kind of impressed by litchi but still not sure about it do you use the one that cost £20 and does the way point using a pen work for the Mavic pro platinum? Is it worth me getting it for my platinum as it does waypoints but you have to fly the route to set the way points in the first place instead of being able to do it on the iPod with a pen much easier if it works for it
No, my editor accidentally included footage of me using the Mini 2 controller (this was for a different test). You can’t use this controller with the Mini SE though.
@@DansTubeTV Now, it is past tense -:) I bought the SE Mini fly more combo pack and was so busy that I just had the time to unpack it and solve the debugging USB "problem" for my android device Samsung S8+, but I know that "my dronie" sits next to me and we are looking at each other rofl. I will be over today at 9 pm and am free tomorrow and am going to fly this baby the whole day. If I ll see the need to upgrade to something more serious, I ll do it. Had to charge all through PC USB but will buy a faster charger tomorrow and they had an extra discount so I paid €349,99 which is a super price and bought the 2 years support plan which is great and not that expensive for the peace of mind it provides.....There is a beautiful park in my city with 5 lakes so I ll begin there......Fly Well Brothers😉
Hello, I have a question from France. In the follow me mode or in the waypoints mode, is it possible - to make the drone (Mini 2) turn on itself? - to modify its altitude? Thanks
Yes, you have a lot of control over the altitude during those 2 modes and you can change the direction that the drone is following you from during follow me. You can get the drone to turn around during a waypoint mission as well.
I haven’t used the Rainbow app 🌈 I prefer the follow mode on Litchi, if the controller is in the car or with a person then the drone will track that object perfectly.
i think that the obstacle avoidance system that is missing in the mini 2 and SE is the reason why DJI did not include these features on the Fly app. litchi user here by the way. i'm still studying the app and its features until now.
I think you are definitely right about DJI not including self-flying modes on the 2 and SE because of the lack of avoidance systems. The 3 will definitely have all those features.
@@TedNemeth but so many other Drones without obstacle aboidance have these modes. Responsibility should be on the pilot for not crashing their drone while using these modes
Cheers, mate. Very nice video. Greeting from Melbourne. I purchased litchi yesturday and fly the follow me mode while cycling. It is absolutedly amazing. But I am confused about the heading when I read the litchi userguide on the website. Can you please explain that? Thanks
I don’t know exactly how they allocate the heading. It might be based on the position of the drone before take-off, it could be true north or it could be based on the position of the drone when you initiate follow mode. I actually have no idea 😆 this could be a good test, let me know if you figure it out?
Would be killer if they released a standalone tracking app to allow to have multiple POI in track mode. As someone who likes filming multiple subjects while out on the water. Having an app on everyone’s phone would allow me to track multiple jet skis without having the controller on them. Not easy to waterproof. Lol.
Thanks for this, just bought the SE without realising it doesn’t do follow me out of the box! I assumed it did (must research things in more detail). I wanted the drone for when I go out on the eMtB and the batteries on my Mavic Pro are dead with new ones difficult to source. I will hopefully be trying out the drone at the weekend and will be purchasing Litchi for my Pixel 4a. Do you know if it will allow me to connect to the old Mavic Pro as well once I get a new battery for it?
You’ll have a bunch of fun with your Mini SE and Litchi. I believe that the Mavic Pro is supported, check Litchi’s website for their full compatibility list.
@@DansTubeTV I now have Litchi running on the Pixel 4a. Worth noting that there is an issue with the DJI apps on Android 12 so I couldn’t get any of them to work, but Litchi is working great with the Mini SE. Fortunately I also have an iPhone so used the DJI Fly app on iPhone to do all the updates for the drone and the controller and have flown the Mini SE with Litchi from the Android
@@DansTubeTV litchi is great, well worth the money and the information available on the website is fantastic as well, clear, up to date, everything I would expect from a premium App.
Yes, you can. You might have some initial delay opening the app but then the video feed and relevant data syncs with the opened app. I would try to avoid doing that though.
The videos and photos are still stored in the DJI Fly app - you’ll have to view them through that app or just copy the footage from your SD card to your laptop/computer and go from there.
hey Dan, another great video, i'm super excited that they've decided to do it for android users first! (since im a samsung user) does this effect the default control setting out of the box for the SE? I find this will be so good being a solo creator with the follow me modes, and further more being able to record audio via the phone when recording. this has been what i've been looking for!
No, the controls will be the same. Yes, this opens up a lot more opportunities for creators ❤️ How exciting, I’m glad that you can unlock the full potential of your drone now 🚀
Hi! I was wondering if it is possible with the litchi app to swap throttle . I grew up with RC planes and can't get used to stick forward and the drone goes up. Cusom changes does not work in the DJI app
The app can follow a car, I’ve tested that on my channel - check out my other videos. I don’t know about an RC car though, you would need to have the controller in or on the car.
Actions at waypoints dont seem to work for me especilally PAUSE; TAKE PHOTO; CONTINUE. On the Litchi Forum I highlighted this and even though I was on STRAIGHT mode I was accused of having CURVED path which jus wasnt true, Could you do a video on ACTIONS in CURVED mode and also identify whether these work on MINI2 and AIR2S. Quite a mission eh? Just the man to do it tho',
Very cool upload. So following mode would work best with trail riding a dirt bike with trees etc? Would I just need to put the controller in a backpack while I ride?
Yes! That would work really well, you just need to make sure that the drone is above the tree line as you will have no sensors on the drone. Thanks for watching!
Nice 👍 awesome first drone! Are you excited? I have created a drone course which could really help you become a confident pilot: www.fearlessdrone.academy 🚀
Hey Dan! I'm looking to use these modes to film myself rock climbing - just wondering what you think the best approach for that would be? The tracking looks great but of course only shows changes on flat ground, I'm guessing that moving up a cliff would be quite different?
Yes, it would be different than a flat linear surface. It could still be good to record but you might not have much movement. If you can get the drone closer to you then it might look cool. You need to have the controller with you or use the not so reliable tracking mode. I prefer the follow mode 📍
Maybe the way points system? Like, put the way points at the exact same spot on the map. And with every point, increase the hight? I think it should stay at the same place, while increasing its hight. I didnt try it myself tho so if you do do it at your own risk :)
I have this one and it works fine for me: www.jbhifi.com.au/products/sandisk-extreme-pro-microsd-64gb-memory-card?ab_version=B&gclid=Cj0KCQiA6NOPBhCPARIsAHAy2zDXXNAYBy9_NXCzQSX5TooJiC1aDwa9Qcwx8cLZHJbhkNT01a24cKcaAuBbEALw_wcB
