Im in my 50s and my husband just gifted me a pocket 3 for my 1st try at making vlogs. Among the numerous vids for the pocket 3, yours is the best n most entertaining. Thank u James! Cheers from Singapore (visiting my daughter and son-in-law in Watford next week and hope to use the pocket3 during my visit to Chatsworth over Christmas.
I had the ‘selfie mode’ turned on which is why the clips facing me look mirrored (I just preferred the way it made my face look, like when you look in a mirror) but I completely forgot it would essentially flip everything else round as well 😂😇 sorry if it’s thrown u off, something I will defo adjust in future vids
thank u ☺️ yeah I will defo do a more in depth video of iPhone 15 pro vs pocket 3… the 15 pro does give out amazing quality videos and is convenient in a sense that it’s always in ur pocket but the quality of the images coming from the pocket 3 linked with the fact it’s stabilized on a gimbal and u can see yourself on the screen whilst vlogging (unlike using the main camera on the iPhone) means that for me it takes the lead overall… and u can place the pocket 3 down on a flat surface and have the camera follow u using active track which is perfect for solo filming. so if u can I would defo recommend getting the pocket 3
Nice video! Just got my Pocket 3 almost a week ago, here in Toronto, Canada. Last trip to London (2019), I was in Central London using a Lumix LX100 and after reviewing footage later back home, I thought there was something wrong with the 'Auto' setting on my camera, the way the lighting kept changing around Piccadilly Circus at night. But seeing your video (around 39:16), I now realize it wasn't my camera constantly changing exposure, but rather, the lights/neon lights in that part of the city!
thanks 😎 hope ur enjoying it! yeah when filming at night u get a load of stuff going on with the lights which is out of ur control so don’t stress over it!
haha yeahhh opsieeee! I had the ‘selfie flip mode’ turned on which is why the clips facing me look mirrored (I just preferred the way it made my face look, like when you look in a mirror) but I completely forgot it would essentially flip everything else round as well 😂😇
Just re-watched this video. I think the Auto mode is better picture quality. I've thought this on other reviews too. I tried the Ace Pro for vlogging & the min focusing distance is really rough. I'm going to try the Diopter attachment, but that's bulking up my kit. I think the Pocket 3 is the way to go. Image quality appears to be far superior and the min focusing distance is obliviously considerably less. In the Ace Pro's favor, the still image quality is shockingly good and the hand gestures are great. Hoping the diopter kit makes the difference... BUT still going to try the Pocket 3 and put it through its paces. Thanks for the great reviews. Keep up the good work James!!
thanks for the support man 😎 auto mode is so so good, I know u said u was considering the pocket 3 but based on what you’ve said about the ace pro and the pocket 3 sounds like ur mind is now made up, trust me, u won’t regret it!
I love watching British reviewers as a British person we are just so entertaining and your reviews have been so thorough! Also I’ve just brought a scotty makes stuff case as it’s much better built then the ordinary Dji one! I’d recommend having a look!
Haha humble claim on Big Ben - surely the most famous clock in the world, not just London. Great video, gives a good sense of the camera, thanks for making it.
I was thinking the same when listening to it back 2 back but I think it depends on the surroundings ur actually in… the mic 2 definitely is better outside cos it doesn’t pick up that much noise pollution like the internal mics do, the internal mics are still usable outside but perform better inside. I would definitely keep the noise/wind reduction off on the mic 2 tho cos I think it sounded way too muffled
I know this video, at 2 weeks old is practically ancient history, bit curious why you tested in-built mic wind noise reduction on/off, but nothing woth which mics were on/off. I'm still not sure if having "all" mics on, front/rear on or just front on sounds best. I want ambient sound, but only do much. I wish we had a way to mix the 3 mics, but editing could get busy in that event.
so I personally don’t like having the back mic on because my finger keeps rubbing it by the way I hold the actual device… so I usually just keep the front mic on if I’m using the internal mics. for what ur describing, either or both mics would work for that but if u do have the back mic on then be mindful not to rub it with ur finger or else u will ruin the ambient sounds ur trying to create cos all ur hear will be the rubbing of ur finger
all of it was literally shot in auto mode and I didn’t make any adjustments to any of it (apart from the small d-log m clip which I graded) the dynamic range coming out of it is amazing
Another excellently done video with very useful infos, great job!! Don't you think in normal video mode (which I prefer as I don't want to put too much work into post editing) the GREEN (grass in particular) color is TOO saturated compared to real life? Can we adjust that internally or just in post? AND, to be honest, while the Pocket 3 is in general MUCH better than the 2, the green in the 2 seems to be more real, or? What do you think?
thanks man 😎 glad u liked it! so yeah I know what u mean 100%, the greens and sometimes the blues are very saturated, if u watch my recent vid of the mic 1 vs mic 2 u can see when I’m standing in the middle of the field the green on the grass is horrible! I did some adjustments in post to make it slightly better but u can’t really adjust anything color related in the actual camera itself apart from switching between the different color profiles… hopefully it’s something that can be tweaked in a software update 🤞🏾
@@james.loxton god to know that you too find at times some colors to be too saturated, especially the green and some times the blue as well. I think if DJI reads users feedback, a slight adjustment in one of the next firmware updates would be the easiest for all. Which video editing software do you use and which do you suggest for users aiming to spend the least of time editing?
I think on the tracking it was losing you because you were reaching the Gimbal turn limit on that side.... for Fast charging were you using the 65W charger or the 30W?
When you were doing the active track test I was panicking in case a gust of wind blew the camera off the parapet. I'm guessing that's where it was. Phew.. another good one mate. Keep em coming 👏 One question if I may: How are you downloading the files for post production? I prefer removing the SD card and putting directly to my laptop but it's a pain trying to get the SD card back into the camera. Downloading through the app takes ages.
haha, thanks mate 😂 yeah it could have gone terribly wrong! I download the files by putting the sd card into my computer, I find it to be the quickest way, ur right tho it’s a pain putting the card back in and taking it out but still quicker than doing it through the app
the iPhone doesn’t currently pick it up so u can’t connect to it with the mic 2 but u could just record internally into the mic 2 and sync up in post with the iPhone footage if u wanted to
@@james.loxton Oh, that's annoying. Someone said it did sync with the iPhone too. I figured the bluetooth would work. Thanks for clarifying. I know it can sync with the Action 4 though.
@JustinPulitzerTrades my iPhone 15 pro doesn’t pick it up, I’ve tried and tried but after seeing online yesterday it could I tried with my mums phone and it picked it up after a couple of goes and actually worked… it lost connection at one point tho, not sure what’s going on with my phone… so in short, I guess anything that can receive a Bluetooth connection should in theory be able to connect to it
Thank you for all the informative videos!! Would you (or anyone from the audience for that matter) know, whether the Pocket 3 is compatible with the DJI Mic? just wondering when trying to capture audio from more than one source with two individual mics. Thank you and keep it up!!
Hy James, i love your channel. I will follow it if you continue to explain things like this: "your way". Please tell me if i missed it; Did you use NDA on you face +sky majority parts of the video?
thanks man 😎 don’t u worry my explanations will always remain the same 😉 on ur other point, no adjustments were made to any of the clips apart from the d-log m clip which I graded
@@james.loxton I will buy camera because of your review. This is not very usual for me. But, it was a great presentation. Wish you all the best my dude! Thanks
A new subscriber here loved your content. I had the pocket 2, which I did love, but now I got the pocket 3 it's a game changer, and the microphone is something else. I just wish they made the wash bag a tad bigger so it could hold the pocket case as well because now you got to carry both around separate lol... oh, the face mask, lol. Lucky you remembered that I always forget mine lol... 😁👍👌🇬🇧
ahh thank u! and welcome 😎 yeah it’s an amazing camera, miles ahead of the pocket 2, the wash bag is annoying as it’s just a bit too small to fit everything in but I guess nothing is ever gonna be 100% perfect unfortunately
thank u ☺️ it’s all straight from the camera, no adjustments have been made (apart from the d log m clip which I graded, when I’m sitting on the bench facing the London eye)
Hi James, thanks for the video. I noticed your unit is suffering from the same issue as mine: every time you switch from selfie to forward facing, for a split second the image flickers/changes sides… it is very obvious. Most of the other RU-vidrs don’t seem to be experiencing this issue… I am returning my unit, and buying another one from another seller. 🤞🏻
no problem 😃 ah so at first I thought that was due to me having the ‘selfie flip’ mode on but I did a test and turned it off and still had the issue with it changing sides when it flipped round… I will keep an eye on it. Would be good to know if ur new one that comes has the same issue or not
I can see the issue you are referring too with the image flipping after the camera has turned in this video. But is that normal or not? Can you link to a video that shows it not doing this? At 35:30 in the video linked below it shows the same, is this faulty or correct behaviour? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vp_eKJ1mFJI.htmlsi=33dlWv-wqFJOC-hz Thanks
flickering in iphone 15. I have the iphone 14 pro max and still have this issue. Very interseting. I'm going to get the pocket 3 for an upcoming trip to Japan, plus the Action 4 for snowboarding there as well. They both have their advantages. My iphone 14 will just be used for internet access, not really it's camera capability, which is glitchy imo.
yeah the 15 pro camera is great but still not my fav camera to use as it has its glitches here and there but it’s good for small social media vids etc… the action 4 and pocket 3 are both amazing in there own rights so good choice 👍🏾
I had the ‘selfie flip mode’ turned on which is why the clips facing me look mirrored (I just preferred the way it made my face look, like when you look in a mirror) but I completely forgot it would essentially flip everything else round as well 😂😇
@james.loxton absolutely mate, bought mine on day 1. I think it's a brilliant camera! Heading back to Thailand in January for a month and it's going to get a massive workout for my vlogs, especially night mode, it looks brilliant.
@james.loxton absolutely, can't wait to give it a serious workout. Do you honestly think using ND filters will make a huge difference in picture quality with sunny day shooting? Can't decide if I want to spend the $100AUD on them.
I know what u mean. It did it the first couple of times it was connected but not after that. I’ll keep an eye on it and talk about it in a future update video 👍🏾
Thanks for making the video. As a newbie I think that would be best for me as a solo film maker to start out with until I can afford a decent dslr. Besides I prefer to pack as light as possible but the canon R 7, R 8 & R 10 are very nice.
no problem 😊 oh yeah 100% … its the perfect camera for a newbie and u don’t need to worry about messing around with too many settings as auto mode gives out great looking images (which is what I shot in, in most of this video) I’ll be doing a beginners guide soon so hopefully that will help u as well! good luck!
Good video--lot of info. The pocket 3 looks over-processed. It is not a natural look. The night video especially. I'd definitely buy one after the divorce settlement.
thanks ☺️ yeah the skin tones for me definitely don’t look natural but overall I still think does a great job even in low light compared to other cameras that are of a larger size and it definitely is leaps forward from the pocket 2
@@james.loxton I made a short video about why I probably won't buy it - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n2eAzA8VxvM.html - so far your video is by far the best I've seen on the P3. Great job.
Was that a bag of London dog poo hanging in a tree over your head @ 2:19 ? WHy? Why? WHy was it there. Was it being delivered by a drone and fell off ? Please advise.
sorry ,side note.. when you sought cover near the tree's, did you see what looks like dog poo in a bag hanging from a branch..once you see it you cannot un see it...
yeahhh, sometimes it does a good job with the skin tones but randomly it will start being weird, hopefully something that can be fixed in a future firmware update 🤞🏾
