I've watched a lot of reviews on the Pocket 3 since I was in the market for an upgrade from my Sony ZV1, and it seems most Creators have used it as the comparison. After watching those videos, it's clear that it's an upgrade from the ZV1 even though there are features missing from it. Your review was the first I've seen show it as compared to the Pocket 2, and oh man, it's a massive upgrade over that. Props to DJI for taking that kind of jump. I wouldn't even consider the quality from a Pocket 2, but I have a Pocket 3 being delivered Thursday.
I also have the ZV-1...and don't get me wrong, I love it. But I have the Pocket 3 coming because for video it seems to better the ZV-1 in just about every way, in a form factor that is smaller (when you consider you'd have to add a mechanical gimbal if you want good results with the ZV-1) and it just starts up and go. With the ZV-1, you have to be more in control of its settings and post-process to get the best out of it. But I'll still be keeping my ZV-1 because of its zoom and photo capabilities. Thankfully, both items are so small that it's not a hassle to carry both :)
I just received mine yesterday and can't wait to get to try it out. I have the DJI Action 3 and have certain use cases for it. I think this Pocket 3 will have unique use cases as well, especially for travel and ease of use!
For me, it certainly is. One of the best things I got. It's the size and ability to use it as a gimbal, offering smooth transitions. That's what was the choice for me over go pro.
Yeah, it's fantastic. I use it exclusively for all the videos on my RU-vid channel (Digital Victory, if you're interested in pinball) - I used the Pocket 2 before and you can tell the difference when I switched to the pocket 3.
Had my combo pack for just a few weeks and I agree with your comments. Easy to take around with you and like a Swiss Army Knife in Camera form as it does so much.
Nice summary, however I am even blown away (as are friends I just heard from) of a spectacular photo I shot today with my Pocket 2. I have plenty of photographic experience and currently own DSLR and a couple of mirrorless cameras and would not hesitate to leave the others at home if not trying to shoot for a client.
Great vid! Are you able to "highlight"? Example would be during a basketball game, if someone makes a 3pt shot, you can mark it and when you open it up for editing on your desktop, you can see where the 3pt shot was made.
Outstanding long term review, I think it's the best option for a vloggers, family footage and even work (I'm a Realtor, and it's follow feature makes this a mini camera crew). I love it.
Sandman Hotel. Enter Sandman. 😂 It's a shame that the camera doesn't rotate for portrait videos to utilise the full sensor. That's just nitpicking, tho. It's great as is.
It actually more rare than one would think. Every case I have seen, the OP3 arrived broken. Not breaking in use. Some theories on the hard protector pulling the screen out on initial unboxing. They have sold out 3x in a month and Amazon is constantly selling out Creator Combos. DJI doesn't release unit sales, but it is easily 100k+ units. So probably less defects than one might think. Im no DJI Fanboy, just noting the percentage is low.
I love the thing. Any new tech that stirs creative ideas in filming is a win. You keep referring to Dlog M as 10 bit. That's true, but normal color mode is also 10 bit (look it up) and while you won't need to color grade or apply LUTs - the colors can be pushed all over should the desire strike! Looking for a foot or 2 extender with a phone mount to monitor.
hi. just wanna ask. some pocket 3 owners have problems with the flip screen (got stuck or out of alignment) and also the extended battery (drained on its own even when not in use), did you encounter these issues as well?
No mention of the biggest issue (that I have anyway) the focus. It’s either the foreground OR the background, not both. There’s a real need for infinity focus. Considering selling mine at a loss 👎🏻
is it possible to slow charge it to preserve the battery longevity? the battery is non replaceable so when the battery craps out gotta throw the whole device out
If you break this putting into your pocket then you never really owned the pocket 1 or 2 because this one is built better than those and I never broke them as I still got them. Like all things even my canon lens have broken with use over time. Camera does what it supposed to do and if you compare it with other camera in this life time you'll never be happy. Not dust and weather proof but fun to use and enjoy the memories captured.
I always buy a warranty for things Ill use a lot so not overly concerned myself. That said, its not a professional piece of gear and its made of plastic and things break. It feels solid enough so far but I'll report any issues as they come up.
Why one one consider this when many have latest iphone? it does the same things... cameras in phones have gotten much better. Actually the iphone has 3 different lenses and this one only has one
@@StefanMalloch The Dji pocket is a lazy upgrade to the pocket 2, they coud have put the hasselblads 3 camera system from dji mavic 3 pro or even 4/3 sensor from mavic 3 classic.
While the iPhone (or any phone camera) have some benefits over the P3, the benefits of P3 over iPhone are: - Face tracking which is more or less like you have an extra person filming you. - Low light capability is outstanding - Filming is not interrupted by incoming calls - The screen on the P3. In the iPhone you have have to use the back camera to get a similar wide angle filming which means you cannot see yourself while filming with the iPhone - Filming on your phone uses up storage - Filming on your phone uses up battery - The P3 is less conspicuous when used to film in public - The P3 mic is amazing- can connect wirelessly without having to plug in a receiver like you would when using iPhone to film when you are at a distance from the camera, the mic can also pick up your voice and reduce the surround noise if used in a noisy public place. - I can free up my phone to use for other stuff while I am filming with the P3, especially in situations such as Time lapses that I need to keep the camera filming without me needing to be there - I can set up my phone to shoot from one angle while I set up the P3 to shoot from another angle + tracking, so I have 2 cameras angles for certain videos I need there to be 2 These may not apply to you in which case you will not find the P3 beneficial to your needs
bro the video quality on this video makes me question if this camera is any good, this doesnt look that great for being 4k. did you by mistake recorded on 1080p or is the bitrate wrong, or did you upload in a bad way to youtube?
I am but still it looks so noisy in comparison with footage from my sony camera, but anyway i guess those are the limitation of having a smaller sensor, I was just hoping it was maybe the encoding used to upload the video or something like that. @@StefanMalloch
