The following Gesture Mode commands are currently available for DJI Spark:
0:13 - Palm Launch
0:41 - Adjust Position
1:05 - Follow
1:26 - Take Selfie
1:48 - Video Recoding
2:05 - Beckon
2:22 - Palm Land
2:49 - Use Case
In this video I want to give you an overview of DJI Spark Gesture Control. How it works, which gestures you have to make and where you have to pay attention. I more of a camera guy than a drone guy. Which means my priority is to get great footage of my activities rather than flying a drone itself. And DJI Spark Gesture Control is a great and easy to use feature that supports it. (Btw. DJI Spark is the first drone to have this feature).

I have difficulty activating my video control and palm control for direction. Could it be the color of my jacket is green, and I'm usually flying around grass area?

I think this makes it harder for the cam to recognise the gesture. Same when you are standing in the same direction as the sun e.g.

Maybe they should use something like a HTC Vive controller for now, until the technology is perfect. It can be frustrating sometimes when it's not working perfectly. They can call it.... DJI Magic Wand

Most of the part can be done with the phone, especially when you set gimbal tilt to phone tilt. As I said I never use Spark just with gesture control, always have my phone connected. Most convenient part of gesture control is follow me and back on - this gesture is also very well recognised.

Phone is clumsy. Turn on wifi, which wifi to connect, how do you turn,,,, so many buttons to learn. The amazing thing of palm control is it's so easy. However, the infrared camera on the spark is not perfect yet. Too many frustration scenario. A simple magic wand can solve the problem. Like a music conductor waving his wand, and spark will follow and listen to command with 100% accuracy under all condition of lighting, sun, and competence level of its users.

sorry, it is hard to explain without any picture. lemme try once again. when you are riding your bike, it is possible to follow you from behind (4:19). how about tracking from the side, like dji mavic pro?

Understood. I was able to track myself from behind, doing the Y shape not facing the camera. When I waved it for follow mode to one side of mine, Spark let me pass in the frame and then followed me from behind. It was not possible to follow me sideways using gestures. Might work with active track using phone/remote.
