So they bring in Hunter Stratton who goes 3 up 3 down in the 7th.. then what do they do? They PULL him for Mr. 12-straight-balls-in-row to load the bases in the 8th in their first attempt to throw the game away..: THEN in the 9th with 2 outs, right handed holderman pitching, and a man in scoring position (thanks reynolds) DaWreck Shelton decides to NOT walk the lefty who’s been on base 4 times this game (4/4) and pitch to the righty behind him who’s doesn’t have a hit yet tonight.. Attempt no.2 to throw the game is then successful as holderman is instructed by the disastrous management to hang two sliders set the top of the zone and good night buccos fans! Thanks for showing up and spending your money and wasting 2.5 hours on this steaming pile of GARBAGE!!! PATHETIC GARBAGE!!! Rahhhhh!!! I’m angry!!!

Shelton doesn't use Bender Wednesday when they are winning and they blow the game, instead he uses him today when they are losing, brilliant! I think if it were pretty much any other team Shelton would have been fired long ago. He's getting booed when he goes out for a pitching change, some the pitchers are getting booed, Tellez and others are getting booed, the Pirate fans are not happy. How much longer is this going to go on before Shelton, Cherington or both are shown the door? Travis Williams it's way past time to act!

Law, yes! But Babe Adams has more career wins than Law, pitched more seasons for the pirates, (18!) had a run a game career lower ERA than Law, and again, has the 2nd lowest walks per inning in modern baseball history. Where is he? Love Sangy but it's no comparison.

Everyone talking about Chapman but Mlodzinski is a garbage can who gave up 4 runs to ruin any shot of a win in OT. He did far more to cost the game.

After the Pirates ended the 2023 season on a positive note (winning their season series against the Reds, for example), I was starting to feel that there could be some promising possibilities for the Pirates in 2024 with a healthy Cruz returning, etc. With the current starting rotation, this team could certainly make noise in 2024. My question is, does the Pirates front office and Derek Shelton actually want this team to make noise in 2024, or are they kicking the can down the road until the 2025 season? This team is on the precipice of forming a cohesive identity centered around stellar starting pitching, strong player comradery, and a never-give-up attitude. However, this identity has been frequently fragmented already this season by questionable roster decisions, poor coaching and managing, and extremely questional in-game decisions just about every other game. It appears evident at times that the players' progress is being thwarted by those in charge. It's no wonder that this team can't seem to play to its identity in an importantly consistent way if ownership, the front office, the manager, and the coaches aren't up to the task of fostering the consistent success of what should be an eventual playoff-caliber team. If I were Skenes and Jones, I'd already be concerned about what appears to be a shaky team vision reinforced by a shaky organizational infrastructure. This starting rotation, the rest of the Pirate players, and the fans deserve better. This organization needs to go back to the drawing board immediately and ask the Pirate players individually and collectively what THEY want to achieve in 2024, and give it everything they've got to support the players' vision. Currently, the Pirate players look lost too frequently because they're just not receiving consistent, competent support internally from this clearly confused organization. It's time. The players are the ones who play the game and they need unwavering and unflinching support. It's been almost 10 years now. Please give this Pirates team the shot that it deserves. Set your egos aside, flip the script, and help your players succeed. They've shown that they can win. Help them win-- don't help manufacture losses.

Don't look now but St. Louis is ahead of the Pirates by a half game and into third place in the division after sweeping the Orioles. The Brewers and Cubs lost last night. This was a game they had to win and pick up a game to move higher in the division. Just can't lose a game you were winning by 5 runs. I'm still in awe, I really thought they were going to be ok last night.

To those feeling hopeful.....we are closer to the bottom of the division than the top ... Da'wreck needs to go...

Shelton is still smarting from two years ago in LA, when Bednar threw over 40 pitches to close out the Bucs four game sweep of the Dodgers. The big guy had to be shut down for a good bit.

Can you imagine Shelton managing in the playoffs if they ever get there?
