been saying this since he was signed. he has to get on the field... another reason DK is they dont have eather qb under contract next year they have to see what they got in both... u will see wilson starting week 1 when will u see fields??? week ? it will happen a sample size.

Great questions you’ve raised about how the Steelers plan to use (or not!) Fields this season. Don’t they have a similar problem with Nick Herbig? He gets very limited reps but what’s the long game for him? At least we know we only have both QBs for this season so not wedded to either of them beyond this season.

I just watched the first episode of hard knocks last night with the Giants and all it did was get me giddy about the Steelers being on later on in the season. I always love hearing and seeing being the scene stuff

I know you and Mon talked about this a bit, but do you think there is more value in trading Dan Moore or keeping him even as a backup? And do you feel it’s still an issue he only plays left when Broderick can still play both sides?

This is gonna be a very important and exciting preseason. Although the way the last preseason went, I'm not sure we'll have our true answer then either.

We need to have Fields close out games. We have a run game we can lean on for both QBs. It should work.

Does everybody forget we play in the AFC north? Fields will get a chance to play. Tomlin tends to keep certain players on the field to long and some not long enough.I could see filleds burning some sage on the sideline though. I'm not a fields fan he is a receiver playing runningback at the quarterback position who gives the ball away to much and has problems hitting his targets but that's just me. Just a leveled up fan😊

Love ya and your content/effort DK. But. I can't help but call out that you said he wouldn't be lining up as a RB and then next sentence saying he could line up beside Russ as a RB. Lol. I understand your meaning. But. Still pretty funny.

He was rarely used at all at University of Georgia by Kirby Smart. Thus he transferred to Ohio State. Some coaches prefer consistency over upside.

Russ will be the day 1 starter and remain there for the greater part of the season. Fields will be used sporadically early on and eventually earn more playing time as the season progresses. The part where it gets really interesting is in the event Russ falters or gets injured. In that scenario, all bets are off as the probability increases that he may not regain his role as starter should Fields excel in his absence. And the chances of that happening in Arthur Smith's run-heavy play-action style offense are fairly high. There needs to be a significant drop-off in the offense for Russ' job to be safe as he has no other protection. Tomlin's job is secured and he is not beholden to Russ. The longer Fields sits and learns, the more lethal he'll be when he finally gets his chance. Don't believe the naysayers that Fields can't pass, can't read defenses, and all that ridiculous nonsense. These people live in the rearview mirror!

I get Wilson is the starter but you’ve got to get Fields some time out there to see what he can do. Too much talent to not at least find out if he can be the player he’s supposed to be without the turnovers. If he can he’s got to be the future right?

A Slash role wouldn't be the worst thing... he's a threat especially in space.. that is hard to prepare for and it should be considered

I might be critical at times, but I agree with you 100%. No matter where you play, you have to be unpredictable. Even as a child playing in the backyare with only 3 on a team, we never told the other side what we had in mind for the next play. Good work!

we are in to versatile...wilson ... not fulltime ...situational ... use what we have at what they do best ... thats how i manage My people

People keep bringing up college performance. I live in Ohio and watch all of Ohio State’s games. Ohio State played maybe two tough games a year . It was one before Harbaugh took over at Michigan. Justin played against inferior competition at OSU. In the pros he is a 26th ranked quarterback. I watched about 8 of his games at Chicago and I followed his career there. Justin was inaccurate, indecisive, took way too many sacks and he wasn’t coachable. He wanted to do his own thing, his way and he failed. Yes he has a ton of ability but it never materialized on the field. All of the stuff he used to get away with in college against inferior competition, hasn’t translated in the pros. His biggest problem is he doesn’t trust what he sees. He was so used to his OSU receivers being wide open and his decisions being easy, that when he doesn’t see wide open guys, he can’t decide what to do. He needed to learn to trust his receivers and let them make plays but he was so afraid of making a mistake, that he couldn’t decide what to do. He’d wait forever in the pocket waiting for a guy to get wide open and he’d take way too many sacks. He needs to learn to not fear mistakes and to trust his teammates. If he could learn take constructive criticism and do what he is being taught, trust his coaches, trust his teammates and let them make contested catches, make quick decisions and learn the proper footwork to make accurate throws, he can be successful. Right now it’s all in his head. His physical talents are unquestioned. He got so used to being the superior athlete at the high school and college level, depending on his own abilities to be successful, that he has yet to let go of that. In the pros his physical talents and abilities are not superior to everyone else on the field. His talent alone won’t make him successful. He needs to trust the coaches and his teammates.

Not to mention it's not easy to stay healthy especially as a QB all season. Especially since Russ likes to hold onto the ball

Every game Fields played with the Bears the announcers would say Fields was the best athlete on the field. The Bears did him no favors!

The fans need to get over this whole (hes not a starter) crap. Wilson is our starter but all the qualities that Wilson has will pass down too Justin and then what? We have a young athletic mobile QB with a bunch of good qualities that he gained through the learning process? Hes fine Russ is fine and until the season starts I guess we really wont know 😅

Great athlete does not add up to great football player. He has trouble reading defenses, takes sacks like crazy and throws interceptions in the fourth. He is also horrific in the 4th. Fields is not scaring anyone. 😂. The best place for him is on the bench.

Sorry DK. I am rooting hard for Russ. Leave it alone, let's start getting behind Russ...I got a feeling he is gonna have a great season.

DK, Fields is a distraction. We need a accurate deep passer, we need Russ. There are a lot of good athletes in the game, don't exaggerate Fields potential and let the real challenge get out of sight.

Why are talking like decisions have already been made?

Fields is not a good nfl qb, he never will be. Even if you let him play running back he'll probably fumble it. It's like nobody in Pittsburgh ever watched him play for the bears. He was just as bad as pickett, russ is the starter and fields will ride the bench. No matter how hard you cheerlead.
