How about Calvin Austin III who's been praised by not only by his teammates but by the new receiver's coach Azzanni who's been in the league for 20 yrs❓️

CA3 is 5’8” and 170 pounds. How much abuse do you think he can take from players who are pushing 300#? If he’s not getting the ball over the top of the defense, he’s in trouble. I have no doubts in his abilities but he was hurt in his first training camp, I doubt his durability. 😅 My money is on Roman Wilson being WR2 if we don’t bring someone new in. Whom ever it is, let’s hope that they make the full season without injury.

@jamesb3092 Calvin is 5 9 but close enough but Calvin didn't get abused last yr he just wasn't utilized properly especially under Canada (then again who was?)but he was the guy in Memphis and one of the best CB in the NFL Sauce Gadner said the best wr he went up against in college was Calvin so for what is worth and what they're saying in camp I'm going with CA3.

@@jamesb3092 Wilson is 5' 10" 185 pounds how is that much better against a 300 pounder. I say let them play, they know it's football and that it is a violent game that they choose to do for a living. To me, Austin is your 2 or 3 with it being between Austin and Jefferson. Jefferson is no slouch, and he has the experience, why are we trying to re-invent the wheel? Wilson is a rookie, and lets be honest, he didn't light it up in college because he was on a run first team, so why do everyone keep trying to put him over Calvin, who, again has the experience and has been hit by a NFL player.

Pickens could be useful in the slot for some formations with Austin and Jefferson on the outside. GP torched people last year when he actually got the ball in the middle of the field.

The true beauty of this off season is in the ambiguity. Nobody has any idea what to expect. And I suspect whatever offense opponents gameplan for, there will be a counter. From formation alignments to personnel deployments, this is the offense we've been waiting for. ❤️🔥🍻

@ProudAmerlican I'm not disputing that. I was only making the observation of his size when DK mentioned it was never going to work with Jarvis Jones due to his size. Size matters alot of the time but apparently not in this case. It wasn't simply size that was an issue with Jarvis.

It's amazing that nobody recognizes that Atlanta had the worst starting QB situation in the NFL last year. Ritter and Heinecke are not starting NFL QBs. They are horrible. That's why Van Jefferson had brutal numbers..I am not saying that he is great. I think that he will be fine
@jake368
@jake368 5 дней назад
I do think herbig is great, but I have to wonder if his production is inflated bc protections are gonna be shifted away from him more often than TJ and Alex. If you swap herbig for highsmith it’s easier to focus on TJ idk if that’s really worth it

Jarvis Jones has a medical condition known as spinal stenosis which is an abnormal narrowing of the spine. He shouldn't have been playing football. Jarvis was very unlucky to have the medical condition he did, and it caused him to not be able to have the career he could have had.

You can when he produces nearly every snap he plays. Jones was not that.
@DKPittsburghSportsSteelers

Sure I can. Because Jones didn't have the speed/quickness to neutralize his lack of size. Herbig does. -

@ChrisB7102 5 дней назад
Herbig is plenty big. 6’2”, 242 pounds has him bigger than all but Wilson, Watt and Highsmith of the LBs (in and out) that will almost certainly make the 53. He looks smaller because of his speed, IMO. Ironically enough, P Queen is the smallest of the most likely LBs to make the 53
@daryllndemmayah4874
@daryllndemmayah4874 5 дней назад
It’s not about his size, it’s his length. You need long arms to stuff tackles and tighends. Herbig is does not have James Harrison strength or even close. So he can get swallowed up in the run game. That’s what people mean about size, he does not have length tk keep bigger people away from him.
@ChrisB7102
@ChrisB7102 5 дней назад
@@daryllndemmayah4874 I do not disagree at all. Not to mention if he were to be moved to ILB, there’s a really good chance he would need to wear the green dot. That changes everything also. He is a specimen to watch for sure, tho.
@daryllndemmayah4874
@daryllndemmayah4874 4 дня назад
@@ChrisB7102 honestly all Herbig needs to do is get as strong as he’ll. Work on his run stopping technique. The issue is Highsmith is elite in that area. Herbig might have higher pass rush potential especially this early stage of his career. But his pass rush is Not as pro bowl or all pro elite edge setting like Highsmith. If fans want to see Herbig more then Putting him at inside linebacker means one do the talented inside linebackers is taken out of the field or one of the Dline is on the bench. Is probably a situation coaches dream off, where their depth piece is so talented he can’t get on the field.

I don't think we will be doing any more splash signings. Based on everything I've been hearing (including your podcast DK), is that there will be more emphasis on TE rather than relying heavy on multiple receivers. It sounds like we have in place what we need. Roman and Van Jefferson.

So, to get back to everyone who jumped up to defend Nick Herbig and challenge my stance that he is smaller than we'd like for a full time starter ... I give you DK's assessment that Jarvis Jones was too small to line up at that position. Jarvis was 6'3 and 248 according to his profile, Nick is 6'2 and 240. Now, I will agree that size is definitely not everything but it is something ... so, perhaps this is a question best asked of DK himself. If Jarvis Jones was so obviously undersized then how is not Herbig even moreso ?
@derrickbowman4746
@derrickbowman4746 5 дней назад
James Harrison wasn't even 6' so I agree it's not all about size ( even his team mates joked about his height, not that it even mattered)
@petegdula4749
@petegdula4749 5 дней назад
For some reason, Nick is already in possession of moves that Jarvis never had. Could it be the extra work he got from TJ when he was still a Badger? Whatever it is, Nick has "it". That, IMO, is why the inch and eight pounds don't matter.
@dimitrijemarjanovic5026
@dimitrijemarjanovic5026 5 дней назад
@@derrickbowman4746 Harrison, I think we will all agree, is a HIGHLY unusual individual who was far stronger than anyone of that size had any right to be. When I see Nick Herbig getting on the James Harrison workout plan I will feel better about him reliably (as in down in and down out) holding down the edge.

I've run out of patience for the WR discussion. What happens will happen. I don't know that they're trying to bury Herbig but they're ability to overlook players is well established. They've screwed over every QB since Rothlisberger. I hope it's not a trend to turn their back on good players. That's not the team I remember growing up with.

All this crying n complaining about how we so desperately need a wide receiver #2 sounds lame af to me. Reason being is because i see Russ as being a more than capable, above average QB. Nobody ever cried for nothing when Ben was back there, except for maybe o-line help, but because we trusted in his abilities, it was always hey, " next man up", "next man up". We need to fall back n give these boys a chance. Save our money, save our draft pix, n let Russ cook!!! Im excited for the big season i see some of our more unproven talent having. The standard is the standard. Next man up!!!

Tomlin's QBs: Rudolph - bad eval by Tomlin; Trubisky - disaster; Pickett - 3rd or 4th round talent at best; Wilson - another team is willing to pay him $110 MILLION to play for the Steelers; Fields - most losses, sacks, fumbles and INTs by an NFL QB '21-'23. And now Tomlin has been extended . . .

People always complain about Tomlins ability, or inability to draft the most difficult, or sought after positions in the draft. QB, cb , and edge the great ones are usually gone by the time winning teams pick , everybody is missing on those guys at that point. And a winning regular season record is important ,boy don't make the PO's without one period. The season ends, and your team gets an extra week it's no small feat , and undervalued by lots in this fan base.

@kentsturgill5945 Exactly I mean coach has made bad decisions just like any other HC especially keeping Matt Canada for as long as he should had since he's considered a very loyal person and sometimes to a fault but at the sametime players and coaches around the league respect that which is the main reason they want to play or be part of the coaching staff for Tomlin.
