Hi Steve,. I have that toolpost and just love it. I do find my toolholder stock is slowly growing as the more frequently used tools are so nice to have. It would be hard to go back now. Hi Steve. Thanks for your videos I have watched most of the Myford ones as I have a ML7R.I have just purchased the 250-101 gib tool post and 8 holders. I made a block like yours to mount on the cross slide, as the Compound is too high. and using 12mm tools. this works really well. Also made a nut and lever handle to replace the top nut which was 14x 1.5mm on my post It make machining a lot more rigid. I am still keeping the Dixon will be good for smaller work.

Chhers for posting this Steve. I have the same 111 toolpost and am going to have a go at copying your mounting plate. Can I check why you opted to bore the recess and turn down the original baseplate to fit? Wouldn't it have been easier to tap the hole in your mount to accept the post directly?

Hi Steve. I bought the same tool post. It all works great but, on mine the centre bolt is smaller on the old piston type for some reason! I’m not in the shed right now to measure the old one but the new one is 9/16 18tpi. No great problem but maybe worth mentioning. Thanks for the video👍

By the way, what is the thread for the tool locking handle of the 250-000? I got my QCTP without the handle and the thread is not M8. Imperial screws doesn't seem to fit either.

I run a Harrison L6/12" swing lathe which I've had since 1991. Do you mind giving me an approx size of the Aloris type post, height and width,please.

Steve: Has the larger 250-111 toolpost reduced the maximum diameter you're able to turn on the lathe, vs the 250-000?

I forgot to ask you about your cutting oil you used. I liked that it was thicker and seemed to hold better to the turning parts. Could you shed some light on the cutting oil your using and how you like it. Thanks Dale in Canada

Steve, do you think it's possible to run 16mm tooling on a ml7 with the oversized holder? Would it be worth it over 12mm?

There are also 250-101-xl holders that will hold 5/8" or 15.8mm.

I see you have fitted thhe 250-111 and the 250-000 to your ML 7, is there any advantage of one over the other?

I've got an AXA 250-000 and toolholders 250-001, 250-002 that can take 1/2", 12 mm, tools. What's the difference between 250-000 and 250-111?

Good to see you back Steve. I've also got the wedge type toolpost, they are purportedly more rigid than the piston type. The 250-1XX toolholders (there are at least half a dozen types) will fit any of those compatible AXA sized toolposts. Aloris, Phase II, Bostar, etc. Regarding fixed toolposts, Robin Renzetti also has a great video on this topic: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pG3YSfgyJPI.html Back to the toolpost for a second - it hasn't ever been on the lathe and you've got brass knobs on it. Very good :) I haven't done the fixed toolpost mod to mine yet, but your video might just provide enough inspiration to get the job done :)

Why do you feel the wedge-type post is superior? I have been living with a piston-type one for years and am perfectly happy with itl But my new PM1130 lathe came with a cheap chinese 250-111 wedgen type and the feel is AWFUL.

Mmm Not sure about that swarf, should be broken up more than that with the chip-breaker on the tip you're using. Adjusting your speeds and feeds should help.

I’m using 250-201 holders with a 250-100 tool holder(undersized)I’ve built up the wedge with a glued&filed stanly blade. I’m looking to change my tool post for a new wedge type,does anybody know what wedge tool post is compatible with 250-201 holders. Thanks lads Paul
