In this video i'am starting to fit the Machifit DMC 250-111 Quick Change Tool Post to my lathe. My lathe is a Paulimot PM2500. I had quiet the rough time machining just the bolt to fit my topslide. I made mistakes, repaired them, failed again but finished the part in the end. Witness my journey to become a better machinist und learn from my mistakes.
The modification of the topslide will be the next video.

A little tip… Wherever possible, try and use your top slide/ compound slide so it is sat on top of the cross slide not over hanging. It should drastically improve rigidity

Thanks for the comment. I will check out these channels but i think i know at least one of them. The best ideas, impressions and reviews i get from youtube as well. While working of course you make mistakes and screw up from time to time. But you need to learn to improve yourself, to repair your mistakes and to prevent them from happening again. I learn a lot from failures. I just hope that they are not expensive. Stay safe too.

Failures are necessary. After that you are better.

Do you think that turning down ACME threads can be done without too much of a problem? I have a lead screw I need to turn down 5" of threads to make a shaft end.

Can't say for sure but this works way better than the original tool post. But i have never cut an ACME thread on my lathe. Never needed it. A normal thread works just fine. I used this QCTP for over a year now and it works great for me.

@@basementprojects4712 Thank you for the info. I'm looking for a wedge QCTP so good to know that yours is working well.
