DMC color chart thread samples REVIEW 

I know this is like 5 months later, but I think I can try to explain the shaded squares. Each column at the top next to the number has 6 little tabs saying, "117", "115 no3", "115 no5", "116 no5", "116 no8", "116 no12", "317W", "417F" and "1008F". Each of these tabs are a different type of DMC thread; 117 is regular 6-string thread (skein) 115 no3 is Pearl Cotton size 3 (large) (skein) 115 no5 is Pearl Cotton size 5 (medium) (skein) 116 no5 is Pearl Cotton size 5 (medium) (on a ball) 116 no8 is Pearl Cotton size 8 (small) (on a ball) 116 no12 is Pearl Cotton size 12 (xtra small) (on a ball) 317W is Light Effects (skein) 417F is Colour Variations (skein) 1008F is Satin Floss (skein) In each column under each thread colour is the shaded squares. Each shaded square corresponds with the tabs at the top of the column, so taking colour 905 in column 11 for example, there are three shaded squares, a blank, shaded and blank, so this colour is available in 117, 115 no3, 115 no5 and 116 no8, so this colour comes as 6 strands (skein), Pearl Cotton Large (skein), Pearl Cotton Medium (skein) and Pearl Cotton Small (ball). I really hope this made sense. If not, let me know and I can make a video on it.
