Another good way of stopping the circle of swords when Vergil is flying is to swap to balrog and jump, the "attack by jumping" skill clears the entire circle

I'm so glad Vergil's DT doesn't heal him as it did in 3, in 3 he could get pretty much 40% of his health back in dt if you let him.

I usually cheese the doppelganger by running around while dodging and holding the swordmaster style button for the DSD round trips

Awesome video. I now know why I didn’t get S rank for Faust, I was hit by a summoned sword. I always equip Balrog with Faust but now I’m going to do with DSD. Also great trick using trickster to go through JC and close the distance. And I now know what I need to do for phase 3 which is where I basically lost no matter how good I played earlier. I did vergil in dmd yesterday and never block the sword s with royal guard... why you ask... because the best way is to just block them using roses XD Seriously that is the ultimate disrespect

What i do, is the moment he DT's, i spam Round Trips. Unlike Punch Line, i have seen him block them like twice in over 20 fights on various difficulties. They actually deny the entire DT healing (even on DMD) if they keep connected (that's rng on what moves he uses and how far he teleports around) and very few times i have seen them stagger him in DT, letting me hit him with a stinger, but nothing more. In phase 2 (don't use them in 1, since he has opening after every move) if you send them in the proper time, they will stunlock him after every move, giving you more openings. Best moment is when he is doing the Rising star + Judgement Cut spams, because the spinny bois stunlock him in the air (send them in his DT during that move as well, since he is standing still and they gain high uptime). They shred his clone as well, killing him in 10-20 seconds, depends how much he teleports. Also, it's hilarious to turn around and see him stunlock dancing the moment he kicks out of DT.

Worth noting that jumping with Balrog destroys the swords instantly, and a shotgun blast can delete most of Vergil’s spiral swords with little commitment

Man Vergil kicked my ass on Son of Sparda difficulty, I raged quite a lot before I managed to beat him. Still, I’m eager to attempt the game on DMD and hopefully lay him to rest once and for all

After watching you and Smvr beating the crap out of vergil with royalguard and then finally trying it myself I was absolutely floored that I managed to land perfect parries on most of his moves despite it being the first time I'd tried RG for real. I'm awful at timing so if I can land a bunch if perfect parries on his summoned swords judgement cut and basically all his phase 1 moves ANYONE can do it.

An update just came out and Vergil got some new patterns and playable (on pc) Vergil got some new attacks too. Fingers crossed for Vergil DLC at E3.

Balrog kick mode combos also break Vergil's guard pretty well. No need to spend DT there.

Man... So many moves and fighting styles I barely use with Dante. It's insane. He's the character I'm the worst with. I'm doing okay with Royal Guard in this fight, but I seriously lack variety in my attacks. Not to mention I use about 1/4 of his insanely vast move set.

My strategy for Vergil's doppelganger is that I taunt him right before he summons it so that he taunts me back, which gives me enough time to deal with the doppelganger when Vergil doesn't bother attacking

What I can recommend regarding Vergil's doppelganger is equip Dr. Faust and hold the shooting button locked onto the doppelganger and it will be dispatched promptly.

Another way to deal with blistering blades plus heavyrain blades is Break Spiral with Balrog Kick mode But you need Ignition on Or else the blades will go through

A faster, simpler way to deal with Storming Swords/Blades is to simply have Balrog and short hop As long as you have that move where your jump deals chip damage while Balrog is equipped

So another way to take down the Doppelganger is to use DSD's Summon Swords, the Round Trips move, it'll lock him so you can focus on getting out of the way of Vergil (or Royal Guarding him)

Spiral swords can easily be dispatched with the shotgun And always trickster dash when he teleports after gettint spiral swords because most likely he will teleport right next to you, instantly fragging you with the spiral swords

I wish DMC3 Vergil had this much openings and parry options... anyway, taunting at him causes him to taunt back at you, buying time. Usually in DMC3 I interrupt Vergil during Judgement Cuts with gap-closers such as Stinger or Air Trick + any air attack. Ye Olde Air Hike + Killer Bee never failed to counter a single Rapid Slash/Stinger because Cavaliere has invincibility frames during flip animations (such as Full Throttle and Wheelie Jump), this can instantly shut him down mid-Judgement Cut, and even fully counter JCE with the right timing, plus Rapid Slash, and Stinger with good distance control also usually in DMC3, Air Tricking directly through his Rapid Slashes is dangerous unless you immediately jump after or were directly right in his face. Air Tricking through Stingers is safe, but do time your next strike well or he'll punish you quick

theres a risky method to clear doppelganger if you royal revenge right after vergil spawns it, the dopple will do a rising slash and get revenged and dies but you'll have to immediately trickster out of there since vergils also there. only doesnt work if vergil decides to do a rapid slash

For those who want to block JCE but don’t know the exact timing, DT and block it. Try practicing it that way as well if you wish to learn the timing

Why not just use swords formation instead of DT. Gives the same summoned swords for everything u do and all of ur styles. Only takes 2 bars and still gives you that badass base form against base form until he SDS.

4:50 I'm surprised this move didn't just deplete your dt instantly. I still don't know how people are able to block perfectly in quick succession. I usually just trickster away when he does that.

Completely unrelated to your strategy video (which is AWESOME btw. =D) but I notice that Vergil says "Eliminate all!" when using JCE in your videos, however for me and most other people I saw online he says "Slay All". Is this a region thing? somebody else notice this??

This is something I probably should’ve asked a while back, but can you actually hold down royal guard to parry Vergil’s attacks?

Getting no damage legit is easy until the fucking Clone comes and you really gotta time when to kill his ass. One good DT stinger will finish his ass though. The best method I've found is attack him when he's far from Vergil and after Vergil is finished attacking RIGHT away.

I fight him in his DT to keep his health low.

Wait, what if I would RG cheese SSS rank and then fix it with Dr. Cheese? Edit: I just cheesed DMD 20750 style. XD

During the clips of RG examples, Dante's stance doesn't change yet each block looks to be perfect, even during the ones when getting hit by circle Summoned Swords or Doppleganger + Vergil attacks - don't you need to press the style button in time (which changes Dante's stance/animation) to get a perfect block? Am I missing something?
