Probably one of the best channels you can subscribe to. It seems every year when the draft happens, we are all scraping for highlights of the prospects who are drafted and we finally have someone who truly breaks everything down. Keep up the great work!
I really like how honest you are about your scouting process, you realize that you may not be right sometimes but you always have very clear reasons for why a player might be good and a lot of people here really trust your opinion, thanks for all the hard work on these videos!
Among his skills, two things stand out to me : his stick work is phenomenal and he ALWAYS had his head up. Those skills alone will serve him well in the NHL. Could honestly see him going in the 3rd or 4th round. I'm sure most clubs have their eyes on this kid by now.
I like the mention of the Nashville over-agers. I hear the word context used a lot, it's nice to see it in action. I love the hidden gems. Sure looks like he can sling it, and in tight spaces. With the covid restricting physicals, will it hurt the draft stock of the guys that need to beef up? Dont scouts need to see these guys in their undies to determine if their body type can put on the pounds? Great work as always, brother!
Maintenant que tu travailles pour le CH, j'espère que tu vas leur parler de ce joueur. On a besoin d'un ailier gauche de talent. Go go go avant qu'un autre club de la LNH le signe!!! Excellente saison dans la VHL cette année
wow, incredible find. I'm high on fellow Russian overager Alex Gordin but never heard of this kid. great puck skills, reminds me of Lafreniere a little bit in terms of stick handling style and escapability. worth a shot in the 6th or 7th round for sure
This guy is absolutely nasty!!! Remember that he’s only 165lbs😳😳 If this guy can get a stronger lower body, improve his stride and balance he could be an absolute stud in the NHL. He’s got it all! I hope the habs take a gamble on this beauty with the amount of picks they have!! Also, could you do Amirov??
Wow didn't know him but I just checked out his stats, 53 goals in 54 games is super impressive no matter the level! I agree a video on him would be cool
One aspect that screams out about this player is his ability to manoeuvre in high traffic areas and how smooth he looks getting through them. Also, you're right he really seems to have a playmakers instinct (from what you showed at least). Wondering if you thought he could competently switch to centre? How is he with faceoffs? Is his defensive play solid? My gut tells me he will find his way into the NHL somehow. Hope to see your top 2 x 31 = 62 players in the draft soon.
He's pretty good defensively.. pick pocket artist.. I think the puckskills help him to steal pucks. I think he's more of a winger. The skating might not be good enough to play center
Good job Sherlock 🧐! What's your take on Anton Johannesson? Have you seen enough of him? He's really small and thin but I feel like he's flying under the radar quite a bit (cause a back to back injuries I guess). In my book, he might be one of the best (if not the best) offensive minded D-man in this draft class. If only he can bulk up... Anyways, I'd really like a video on this kid if the schedule allows it.
I've seen 5 games. I like his offensive game and he's a smart player. I just don't think he will be able to defend at the Pro level. He's just so weak and small physically. In his zone when the other team is set. Not the fastest skater as well
You said it right, you never know with over-agers. Some players are late bloomers that hit their true "Draft year" skillset in their +1 year. The issue is they are devalued because people assume it's just their natural growth and they are older than others so it's nothing special. I think the meta for this type of drafting is to dig deep, speak to some of their personal trainers that they might have had as 13-14 year olds, and figure out if they are true late bloomer bodies or not.
I think his skating is fine as is, but he will likely put on another 25-30 pounds and add strength to his legs in the next few years. I want the Ducks to draft him so bad but they haven't drafted a player from Russia since 2009.
I really like this prospect too! Love the hands and how his head always seems up. Seems to already know how to avoid telegraphing passes. Another MHL player I’d like to know more about is 6’4” RHD Yegor Smirnov. Also, in the KHL there’s ‘99 born Artyom Galimov who can still be drafted. He co-led the whole KHL in game winners and iirc he plays a solid two way game. Maybe he’s NHL ready now?
I just watched a game of Smirnov today actually. Not a big fan. Skating is really bad. Missing agility big time. I will have to watch Galimov. I don't know him.
Another great video! Re the MHL, I recently read a fantastic article explaining why the MHL is the closest European analog to the CHL leagues, and why success in the MHL is a reliable corollary. Please check out the article in the link below. Its prime focus is on Timur Ibragimov, a Sharks prospect, but goes into pretty fulsome detail. 🙏 fowleball.wordpress.com/2020/05/27/nhles-timur-ibragimov-2019-nhl-draft-doug-wilson/
