What I meant to say was that I personally think Dmitri Shostakovich was the greatest composer of light music in the twentieth century. This suite always produces a smile.
This delightful suite came on the radio the other day and I recognised it instantly after having seen the operetta that this is based on a few years ago staged and performed by Opera North. Obviously good music stays with you!
