It always bothered me watching this lift with the video being the wrong aspect ratio, so I decided to make this.

To clear everything up: He did not fail those first lifts. They were warm-up sets used to build up to his max. When you hold that much weight over your head for multiple reps you get fatigued, which would sabotage your max attempt meaning you already have used up your energy in your warm-up.

Yeah man.In my opinion Klokov is the strongest weightlifter of all time (109kg)...His lifts are ridiculous,to bad he didn't do as well in competition.The record for snatch and clean and jerk in the 109kg is 199kg snatch and 240kg clean and jerk...Numbers that Kokov hits in training...He literally did a hang pause snatch 200kg at one of his training sessions and his beat clean and jerk is i think 244kg...But its not official unfortunately.

Those 1st few reps might have been performed as a "preparation" for his 1 rep max (almost like an energy-conservation approach before performing your 1RM). Dmitry Klokov was probably thinking "190kg... I've done this before. I'm just going to review my form with this rep before doing my PR"
@markmondrinos7721
@markmondrinos7721 6 лет назад
With the 200kg he was just warming up the explosion from hips to catching the weight, making sure the bar is moving right and winding up in the right place, but not wasting energy stabilizing the bar or standing up until reaching the true max rep. Its not a meet after all, just a training max.

Funny thing is that I never go to gym but I'm a quite fit guy, but I find it hard even to just stand up from that position with my arms up with no weights in my hand XD

Idk much about powerlifting but after the overhead lift part is he suppose to come up or is this some kind of training technique?
@7deno72

Yea thats the "snatch" moving the weight from the bottom over ur head in 1 movement .. clean and jerk is the other form and thats 2 movements

This is weightlifting, powerlifting is all about bench , deadlift and squat (sometimes military press, in some federations).

Cerdelimo I have seen strict curl in powerlifting too but yeah. Power lifting is about pure strength Olympic weightlifting is strength plus the ability to do it quickly it's ballistic movement not just raw strength

Dank Memes and Wack Streams And the beautiness of the sport is that there are so many training methods and philosophies too.

FLEX_NYC no one answered your question bro lol but you are supposed to stand to conplete the lift but i think that is a training technique cause ive seen other lifters do it when doing doubles or triples and standing on the last rep

Is it just me or the left foot sits higher than the right? You can see how this affects his power as he shifts to the left side while he goes up. More power to the left. Impressive nonetheless

Looks like hit the shirt on the way up, which would account for the wobble. Wow, incredible snatch.
