Yes! I have seen those. I'm pretty sure Princess Auto has them. They will definitely work. The ones I saw are pretty heavy, though. Thanks for watching 🤙
I've settled on a Captain and about 27-28' of tachyon and a Zillon for traversing but as a standalone rig. I used to run a Captain, a hitch and rope wrench till I got sapped out one day and literally had a knife knot (gooey tree sap is the visitation of the dark one upon this earth). Akimbo uh uh . . . Usually now I just run a double ended lanyard setup - one end Art Positioner and the other end a hitch and Hitch Climber Pulley (or even add a v rig with DMM Revolver Rig pulley). With a small throw bag it gets me most places upwards thru the spruce jungle. Does anyone remember Richard Mumford's (on RU-vid) double magnet setup he used to sell - I still use it for some long throws/ traverses and it works too (though not on stuff like apple or trees with thorns to get int he way). Keep at the videos guy. Enjoy the thaw next week in The Hat but watch the ice in the mornings! Cheers.
That sounds like a really good setup. Zillion is my favorite lanyard so far. And yes, she is starting to melt up here. Thanks for watching. Be safe, brotha 🤙
Ya. It's definitely not a must-have, but it is really cool! Gotenks is awesome! I have a bit of a dragonball obsession. Ever since I was a kid. Thanks for watching. Be safe 🤙
I have a 60 foot sterling tritech lanyard with a steel carabiner and notch rope grab on one end. The other end has the hook with a camp druid decender and a ct cric i use for a 3:1 that is midline attachable and works with a foot/knee ascender. I also have a 150ft srs line with an akimbo and a 15 ft wire core i never use anymore. There are countless situations where its made my life a breeze when it would have been a struggle, its the best movement/positioning setup i could think of especially matched with the srs its just to good.
Do you find it more difficult to unhook from a distance with the extra weight of the bina on it? I’ve always found it so perfectly, waited with the kit that it comes with. Another drawback to this technique is that you won’t have a lanyard to tie in with when you get over to where you’ve hooked in. I love the idea. Thanks for sharing.
Should be able to unhook it easily even with the carabiner. And yes, you're right about not having a lanyard to tie immediately, but as long as your rope angle isn't too steep, it's relatively easy to take off the hook and put the lanyard on normally. It is situational. Thanks for watching 🤙
I originally applied my C hook to my Dans 25ish’ rope sleeve lanyard but it was frustrating how much the sleeve kept me from advancing that little crucial bit with the hook. Your setup is almost exactly like mine. Once you go captain you never go back.. unless your hooks stuck for 10 minutes lol.
I love my hook, but when i bought it i also splurged out on the bag, rope, and a rad system. That was all a waste of money, because i now just carry the hook on the back of my treemotion, when i need it ill do one of two things. Generally for moving around one crown ill pop it on my tail, rope through the eye and knot blocked. Just a prussic on there, when i get to my hook i take out the knot block and make a moving system with the prussic. Or if its very large tree with long traversing throwws, i have it on a stationery system with rope wrench, when i reach my hook i make it into hitchclimber system or knotblock cambium saver for an srs.
That's a great idea. I forgot to mention that the tail of your climb line is also a great option. Also, the rope that comes with the hook is kinda shitty lol. Be safe and happy hooking 🤙
