Near the beginning, were you bringing a line up with ya that was choked to the trunk ? Was that a lanyard ?

@@AerialTraveler I guess I'd probably understand it better in person. Is that in case your tie in point fails, ( while ascending ) the second one is a back up ?

@@AerialTraveler I'm in Lansing, MI. Yah, I've never been to Ohio...I should check that out, esp looking forward to meeting anther like minded climber ! I've not gotten high into the trees yet...working on my basics. I've thought about using my lanyard to choke the trunk as a back up too.

Great vid, man. I watched this one a while ago, but never commented. Always meant to. I really like the use of the 3:1 on the line for the hook. Also, that’s a crazy fly shirt you got on 🐸

yes i saw that gate opened up before i read your note on it..... that happened to me climbing an old growth redwood several years back with the same kind of carabiner,, i was about 150 ft. up and it was still 6ft. diameter,,, i looked down and saw my gate wide open.....!!!!!! if i would of twisted the wrong way, it would have been toast time because i couldnt get a climb line in yet, and was dependent on my very long fliplines...... i only use petzl green ball and DMM ultra o's now.....!!!!!! i could of got killed....... i since then show every climber i can how easy the gate can open with the palm of your hand by just pushing and twisting that stupid design they have for life support......you are a great teacher,,, im 69 years old and still doing big trees and im always trying to learn to be a better climber and timber faller........ thanks for sharing with us how to getter done........roy, mendocino, ca.

Can you mention something about what harness connection points work best at times when traversing? Like, are you always tied to the middle of your harness? Or do you use the side connections? Or what? Thanks. I enjoyed your video.

Nice traverse. I like how you never fully rely on the hook and always remain trunk tied. What is the name of your hand ascender/progress capture/pulley combo you're using on the hook??
@christopherwright7141

how are you tending the rope through your foot ascender? I usually have to weight the bottom end of my rope to pull the slack out. though that would not be feasible in your situation.

Do you happen to know what's going on with treebuzz? It doesn’t work at all for me since yesterday, it says it takes to long to respond. I don't know if their server is down or something.

Using the RAD system on your captain hook rope yup yup. The music at 14:02 reminds me of Escape from New York. Those sleeves are fabulous, I use them all the time. Actually keep you cooler. And yes yikes indeed, had that happen already...not cool.

Do you always traverse with your main climbing line or can you also traverse with your "short rope system" and can you adjust your main climbing when you reached the anker point of your main climbing line being safed by the "short rope system" again?

In one episode he talked about it. It’s just an open pulley Luka a pinto and a Petzl Crole rope grab. He put a small bolt between the pulley and ascender/grab. He said he got the idea off a forum I think
