DNA Replication is the process in which identical copies of DNA are made. This video discusses why and how this happens. Complementary base pairing is the mechanism of DNA Replication. The process is known as semi-conservative because each double helix formed contains one new strand and one old (original) strand. For more Biology video lessons check out www.anytimeeducation.com

very true. I am studying as personal trainer, sport coach, and I do not need many technicalities in these respect but I need to understand perfectly the rationale. This is the best video.

Hi teacher Jeremy. I have a problem in ladder structure of DNA, it is " only pairing one purine with one pyrimidine can a consistent separation of THREE RINGS' WIDTH be achieved". I don't understand what's THREE RINGS' WIDTH mean. Please, could you help me to understand this?
@jeremylecornu
@jeremylecornu 9 лет назад
+hải phạm The purines (Adenine and Guanine) have two carbon rings and the pyrimidines (Cytosine and Thymine) have one carbon ring. As A always binds to T and C always binds to G, a base pair in a DNA molecule is three rings wide. Hope this helps!
