UPDATE: We have videos dubbed in Spanish and Portuguese using an artificial voice via aloud.area120.google.com to increase accessibility. See our Amoeba Sisters en Español channel ru-vid.com/show-UC1Njo3LBy53cOPngz6ArV8Q and Amoeba Sisters em Português ru-vid.com/show-UCYTQPX2X_mXe0ZMPi0fXxbg Want to help translate our subtitles in any language? Learn more here www.amoebasisters.com/pinkys-ed-tech-favorites/community-contributed-subtitles We hope you like our newly updated DNA replication vid! So what's different? You will find the script to be almost the same, except with a little more detail: we included topoisomerase activity and better explained leading and lagging strands. (Again, remember, there is still much detail to explore beyond this video!) Our art has also improved as we continue to practice and no MS Paint this time ha! You can see our milestones here: www.amoebasisters.com/milestones.html Also, no worries, we try to not delete old videos. The old DNA replication video, if you prefer it, is still here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5qSrmeiWsuc.html

The originals actually helped my wife make it to the university of applied sciences this summer! We had other material too, but having it explained in more layman terms and breaking it all down was absolutely the key for us to really crack into the subject. The Amoeba Sisters are our heroes!

Thank you SO DAMNED MUCH for this video and other videos like these, you properly enunciate words, teach processes in a logical order, create stories with each enzyme, all adds up to me being able to remember EVERYTHING from a single sitting of an 11 minute video in comparison to remembering nothing from reading my textbook for 2 hours straight. As usual, your videos are AWESOME! I teach college biology and continuously use these videos to supplement my lectures! The only thing I would add would be the separate DNA polymerase that removes the RNA primers and fills in the gaps before ligase glues the Okazaki fragments together. Other than that, FANTASTIC!!

Okay I find biology class extremely dull and did NOT want to trudge through my textbook's explanation, but y'all explained it in such an engaging way, and this is actually really interesting! This video made a lot of ideas click together in my brain, and I think I've been convinced to try giving my textbook another chance :)

Simple, fun, accurate. Awesome job! I know it's a lot of work but I'd love to see videos like this one that go into more depth! (show and explain the different DNA polymerases, differences between eukaryotes and prokaryotes DNA replication). You're really amazing, thank you for these fun videos!

Great video, just one quick thing though. Before the Ligase glues the segments together, a different DNA polymerase (DNA Polymerase I) degrades the RNA primers that are left in the segments as the RNA primers itself isn't part of the DNA base pair and replace the segments of RNA primers with DNA segments instead, after this process, the ligase will then glue all the DNA segments in the lagging strand together when they are fully packed with only newly formed DNA segments.
