DNF duel has a BIG problem 

the regional pricing stuff is ass. No idea why this wasn't addressed at launch

I think most of what they put in make the game fun but I definitely agree they did not had a clear idea of what they wanted to do with this game. I generally think they made a good game. The problem is arcsys 100% knows you have to communicate and update and build on a release, they did this very well with strive. And they just... chose not to? Even if you agree with the idea that Neople is completely undercutting them is still just leads me to question who this was for. I don't think it was made as a cash grab because I think it makes no sense to see this game in terms of building revenue. DFO makes literal billions of dollars, this game is just a marketing arm for DFO. Why spend the time and money to build a marketing arm for DFO and then just let it die? Makes no sense to me.

@burningphoneix I hope that isn't the case but it's possible. It had a lot of hype on release but tapered off so fast, I'm not sure what the sales numbers looked like.

@@flowchartk3n it's absurd that DFO makes billions in China and China only, and they thought it was a good idea to market DNF duel anywhere but China to an audience who's never heard of DFO nor would be interested in that kind of game. Like I can see DFO becoming successful in the 90's and early 2000's cause beat em ups were doing well back then, but in 2023 it's a steaming pile of garbage compared to most other games, it's doing well in China just because of the legacy it already built there.

@@bobrianfo104 I think DFO has some korean audience as well but I agree with your other points. The idea that someone would play DNF and then look at DFO and want to play it today is pretty out there to me. The game was made 20 years ago and visually looks the exact same. They'd have better luck making a maple story fighting game at this point

I agree. The game is highly polarizing. It feels like the devs added options they thought was cool at the time but never considered how the other player interacts with it until after the fact (BEHEAD). But yeah, it’s not for everyone.

@@dhayris160 I do think there were some unintended interactions. For instance - when they tried to tone down hitman they made it so that certain characters could roll punish his awkening DP into shattering strike. It was enough of a gap to universally roll and throw and some characters could get more with a fast enough normal. ....except not really because conversion exists, so anytime he has white life you will get blown up for rolling.

This is likely more about how neople does business than not having faith in the game but either way its laughable.

MP skills function in the place of EX moves but in general I don't like comeback mechanic supers either. Thats why I play berserker so I can combo into it lol

This is just not true and mostly just makes me assume you aren't very good at the game. If aomeome beats you 99 times out of 100 it's not a party game. There are some issues with balancing but there issues with balancing in every fighting games. All things considered I think it is in an okay spot despite my hatred of safe DPs. People use the same criticisms for DNF Duel that can apply vaguely to most games. If you don't like the game that's perfectly fine. But if you lost over and over to swift master throwing up your hands and saying "nothing I can do" doesn't make it a party game.

In a oldschool dfo player who is American. I've completed in strive tournaments, and this game just isn't it. It's a kusoge by definition

It's situatuonal. No one is dying off the first hit. There are times when one hit kills but its more complicated than everything being a TOD DNF combos are looooooong though so if you aren't into that you probably aren't going to like the game

I'm always the one being beaten and you're just watching a movie of you dying. Online is nearly always very hardcore and even casual matches aren't very casual, people tryhard a lot. So I try to stick to single player for the most part

its a fine line between broken game and fun kusoge. I don't really understand that idea that breaking rules = bad game, UMVC3 and MVC2 broke quite a few rules as well I personally dislike this mechanic but still love DNF

Striker is slightly less annoying IMO because her dp combo is scaled and has much less range so her just sitting in crouch and waiting to DP is much less viable compared to TS/SM/HM

I wish I could say yes but honestly if its not on sale I wouldn't. I love the game and play it all the time but you are going to have such a hard time finding games against similar skill level. I would wait for a sale of when spectre drops

I talked to him on Steam before, seemed real nice, but I noticed he would stop playing whatever when I start playing DNF:D When I beat him in a single match, *disconnects* writes to me “omg lag”. When he wins the laggy game wasn’t a issue. Now that I write it, this just sounds sad for this guy.

It can be a long wait, there is no way around that. I love DNF and at the top ranks at peak times I don't have problems finding matches but if you are anything lower you probably need to use discord to find matches until spectre releases. I have had little to not issue with the online. If you are using wifi no matter how good the connection is there will always be drops, but overall I think DNF has some of the best netcode of any fighting game. Matches from east coast to europe being playable is still wild to me.

@@flowchartk3n I love d n f but i've been kicked from it more than any other game online, I don't know if it's because AT&T has crappy game servers But it's an issue for the people I played with, That's why most my friends quit because after 20 minutes Everyone would start getting kicked out of the rooms Thanks for the info for real yeah. I'm noticing usually 10pm on friday and saturday is a good time to rank, I'm at Diamond Three. Once I started getting better than my brother and his friends they all quit lol. Now I'm just having a hard time finding people to fight with online cause. It's either a long wait for rank or walk into random rooms ha

yeah at the end of the day you can either complain about something you dont like in a game you enjoy, or find a solution to it. If the solution is play perfectly it is what it is. I like the game and I want to win, im not here to complain

I don't talk hitman up as some unbeatable monster, nor did I do that in this video. All I did was mention that he was previously the only character to have a safe combo DP on awakening. The video is about my issue with a mechanic that he and multiple other characters now share. Troubleshooter is the primary offender in my opinion because he is the only one that can put himself into awakening. Hitman's damage is low without awakening, this is true. Its not terrible, but its bad compared to the top tier characters. *Mashing after his DP is just completely untrue. VERY few characters can safely mash to beat the first half of his DP, I believe only ghostblade and striker have fast and far reaching enough 2a to interrupt. Maybe Inq as well. What most people got was that they can roll the gap now, which doesn't work if he has white life because he can conversion on reaction and punish. *I was wrong about this It seems like you think hitman is bad now, and I can assure you he is not. He is not top tier, but he is absolutely tournament viable. The grand finals of a tournament literally last night was a hitman mirror.

@@flowchartk3nyou are wrong you can mash after his dp while hes in awakening i suggest you go to training mode and find your characters button to punish.

​@@senatheEND you know what man im gunna give this one to you. I went back and tested it again in practice and way more characters can mash than I thought. You have to be REALLY close but it is not ridiculous to bait from this range in an actual match. I was wrong. I still stand by my other points and think hitman is not a bad character, but this is not as tight timing as I thought.

I don't think the takeaway here is cheap shit in other games means i shouldn't dislike a cheap mechanic lol. At the end of the day its just about what you can tolerate personally in a game. I've been playing fighting games for 20 years. I promise its not a familiarity issue.

Again coming from a OG dfo head, this game is the most disappointing thing arcsys has put their name to. I wish they would just drop support because everybody else has already forgotten about it.

@@666slateran666 If the spectre release doesnt go well I think its over for DNF. I wouldnt even be that surprised if they cancel the DLC roadmap if spectre doesnt bring players back. Players leaving has more to do with the lack of updates and communication imo but there were also people who just didnt like the balancing of the game. Releasing SM comically broken and then not adressing it for 3 months, only to tease a tiny patch note as a major update makes no sense. Since becoming familiar with Nexon/Neople I am hearing more and more about how this kind of terrible communication is the norm for them but I think it did way more to kill DNF than the game simply not being good.

@@flowchartk3n Wrong, people left because of mechanics. It's why that's the main criticism of the game. I personally never expected any updates. I never even expected a dfo fighting game but here we are. It's not even that true to the OG game in terms of how you play it. The pvp in that is more balanced. When I went to a giant anime fighting tournament the dnf booth was the smallest of the bunch by a landslide and it was only a month or so after release. Even pros dropped it immediately. And in general the controls are geared for normies, which they couldn't get into it because of combo lab monsters. Spectra isn't going to save this trash fire my guy sorry. Take the L and come play strive like the rest of us.

@@flowchartk3n Nexon has always been a awful company. Neople acquiring them made dfo actively worse and more like a mobile game. It's totally a different game to what it was 10 years ago with as much gacha as genshin. I got hacked back in the day and stopped playing. Recently came back and it wasn't fun. I was hoping dnf duel would fill that void and I'll be honest the launch was fun. But i quickly realized that it's just another 2 TOD game and was dead in the water.

Almost no fighting games have infinite combos. Very few do and they are mostly older games where that sort of thing couldn't be patched out. Modern games in the live service era will never have infinites

funny you should say that, Spectre (f slayer) is already confirmed coming soon™, Brawler and battle mage and VERY likely DLC coming and grappler and berserker (slayer) are already in the game. I'm not sure it has to be perfectly fair and balanced, its just certain mechanics make the game very robbery prone.
