I keep on reading posts saying "Anthoine Hubert died in a crash at Eau Rouge" and as sad as it is, I can't help but hear Tommy say with his nasal charm "that's Raidillon actually". RIP to Hubert btw, not trying to make light of his death

I saw my own tweet at 0:08. I already wrote about this subject almost 15 years ago. The Eau Rouge was the left-hander to the l'Ancienne Douane hairpin in the pre-1939 track. To make the circuit faster they built an artificial corner that cut off the hairpin. Because the new corner was very steep they called it Raidillon, which comes from the French word raide which means steep. The corner on top, often told to be the Raidillon, has actually no name. It was actually the first of the Kemmel section, when it was a series of corners. Kemmel was straighten in 1979. By the way: I made a video about the same issue a few years ago. Since today I get a lot of strange comments "That's Raidillon actualy". Now I know were it comes from ;)

I was in Spa for the 24hr race, and Eau Rouge is actually the little bit of water running under the corner. Bet you can't get there while the F1 race, but at the 24hr race everything was really open and it was a really nice experience to see, that the small 'river' Eau Rouge is still floating.

Few people knew where was Eau Rouge but how many know why is it called Eau Rouge ? Eau Rouge means Red Water in french and below that corner, there is a little river where the water is... red.

Just name all 3 of it eau rouge.

To be honest, I'm fairly sure Raidillon is not the sweeping uphill right hander, but rather the left hand kink at the top of the hill. The sweeping right hander is just known as "Turn 3".

it is called Radillion "EAU ROUGE" not just radillin or eau rouge. radillion is not often used as a term and it's infamous word to use as eau rouge is a famous corner word to term to use for spa for many reasons

I didn't realize this was from one year ago and I was super confused as too why everyone was super chill and seemed to barely care that Lando was in the room, and the fact he had time for it. Now that I know its from last year before he actually became an F1 driver its makes a lot more sense.

Eau Rouge (left) Ancienne Douane (right) Raidillon (left) collectively known as Eau Rouge. In the 1930's, the three corners where considered to tight and too slow, so for 1939 "Virage de Ancienne Douane" was eliminated / cut short, the link (right-hander) was never officially named. Effectively leaving the left named Eau Rouge the right un-named and the left Radillion. The transition from point has never to my knowledge been identified. So what is the right hander, the scary bit called ? Eau Rouge, Radillion, unnamed or Ancienne Douane ? The apex is closer to Eau Rouge The presenters are referring to the right hand curve! That is Not actually Radillion, Radillion is the left hander actually

Ackchyually, the corner Eau Rouge is called after the the river that flows just beneath it, Eau Rouge (Red Water). The riverbed of Eau Rouge is rich in iron oxide, which gives the water a reddish tint that gave the river its name.
