The Sub is thicker than the GMT. The difference you are feeling might be the thickness rather than the diameter, which is apparently less than 1mm difference since the Sub isn’t actually 41mm wide. The thickness is why IMO GMTs wear a little more comfortably.
I’ve owned seamasters and submariners of all iterations and I always go back to the seamaster, seamasters just have that little bit more about them. The majority of people that want a submariner over a seamaster are looking for gratification from others.
@@SIZZO76 me too, for me it’s the flat dial ceramic seamaster that wins the show 👌🏻👌🏻 I sold my Kermit over my seamaster many years ago and I know the Kermit is worth obscene amounts today compared to the seamaster but I don’t regret my decision, I enjoyed the Omega so much more and for me that’s what its all about. It’s sad how watch collecting is going.
The No Date Sub looks sooo much better on the wrist! Clean and well balanced. The cyclops is not a dealbreaker for me and I have it too, but the Sub without a date is just the prettier watch… arguably most Rolexes would be without the magnified date. Perhaps I’ll come to appreciate that feature in 30 years, when my eyes get worse - hopefully not 🤞🏻
@@alfieakaronaldog yeah, I wish they’d make at leadt some models without the cyclops. The old 40mm Seadwellers for example looked great. Too bad they added the cyclops in the past few years, especially on a watch that’s even more purpose built for professional diving than the Sub (arguably). Not that it matters, since the new size is too big for my liking anyway.
I know there are many more expensive watches that put Rolex to shame and there are many less expensive watches that are just as good or better but the Rolex Submariner no date has always been and will always be my favorite watch.
As someone who has bought and later sold "placeholder" watches, I'd recommend you buy what you initially had your heart set on. I had a Tudor Pelagos and a Rolex Explorer, thinking it would scratch the itch, but after all of that, I ended up buying the submariner at retail. The submariner is such an iconic watch. The Batman is too similar in my practical daily use cases to the submariner that I couldn't justify owning both and am now on the waitlist for for an Oysterflex Daytona
Thanks for the advice, i do really love the Batman. I know it would be almost impossible to get(on my part) but hopefully i get 1 in the future. For now, i’ll be relying on that “waitlist”. 😅
The 124060 will forever be a classic icon in the Rolex range. It will hold its own against Patek, Vacheron and AP. The Starbucks, Pepsi, Batman etc are hype watches for this time which will look cheesy in the years to come.
I personally think that every single model ⌚you tried on was stunning... Like someone said in the comments, the "Seaweed" Green Omega would have been nice also. Basically you won't go wrong, you will just end up getting one until you start the hunt for the next one. Searching and for these watches is just as exiting as owning it... So enjoy the journey, the passion is what keeps us enthusiast searching for the next one !
Honestly , the omega is the one I’d go for. I couldn’t justify the additional cost ! If your thinking of selling in your lifetime go for the Rolex. If you want a watch that has a better movement, looks better and can have it now. Omega all the way…
My first Rolex after school was a no date 16610. Great watch and classic design. Tried on today's subs and not too impressed. Certainly a thic boy and more heft. Scooped up a GMT Rootbeer last year. Love it. Well balanced, sexy chocolate and the case feels solid but not too thick or chunky.
I got an Omega Planet Ocean a couple of months ago. No regrets whatsoever. Maybe a Submariner some day but to be honest with the way prices are climbing for both Omega and Rolex there are other brands worth considering at this price point too. Whatever you choose will and should be awesome
Build a good relationship and trust with you AD, visit every few months and good things will happen eventually. i.e. you get the watch you want at a price that is appropriate. You already have a dream watch so don't rush and pay over the odds for something less than you already have at a ridiculous price. It's a poor outcome ultimately. Good luck 🙏
First, the 126610LV is not the “Hulk”. Second, watches should always be worn on your left wrist, whether or not it is your dominant hand. Unless you’re buying a “LHD” watch. Lastly, put the watch on your wrist, whatever one makes you the most happy and in your budget, buy it. If they’re all in your budget, and you love them all, request all of them and buy them as they are allocated.
Agreed. I was a bit confused when he mentioned the 41mm sub as the ‘Hulk’. For a smaller wrist, the pre-ceramic sub or gmt is definitely a better fit on the wrist.
If your heart is set for a Rolex but then ended up buying an Omega just because of the uncertain wait from the AD, trust me you will end up still craving for the Rolex. My advice is work towards going grey for the pre-ceramic sub or gmt as your first taste especially on a smaller wrist.
watch collection is a journey and not for people who wants it NOW. This is the AD game we need to play now. Get other not so popular ones to have a purchasing history with your AD, then get the allocation.
Aah, you’ve been bewitched. I think the journey is the one you take getting to the point where you can afford the watch, not spending money on watches you don’t like just to get 1 that is in demand. And NOW is my time that i’ve waited for years. So, i want the watch NOW. Unfortunately, that’s not possible😂
You're likely to get the steel/gold GMT a bit sooner since they're not trading that crazy over retail, despite what the AD might say regarding availability. Numbers don't lie. Also the M in 300M is rather simply, it stands for meters since the watch is waterproof up to 300 meters / 30 bar pressure.
Well wanted another Rolex but the games ADs play is not for me. Instead bought a IWC, Glassbox Carrera and a Seamaster with about the same money I would have spent on the Rolex GMT in wanted. I am over it. Love what i got. Much better way to spend my $$$

I reccomend not buying an omega sea master just because you want the submariner, you will likely get in the horrible feeling of ''I should have gotten a submariner instead'' so wait for the sub. They tend to arrive faster and I got mine today from the AD :D
The Omega is a better buy. There are way too many rolexes out there and in my opinion too costly. I went a whole different direction. I bought a Chrono Swiss Open Gear REC SEC blue limited to only 50 pieces.
I have the 41 no date sub and just received my Pepsi. I also have a 6.5” wrist. It’s not just the face size of the sub the bracelet is also bigger and the clasp is really too chunky and prominent. I find the gmt the exact right proportion for me and I’ll be moving the sub along shortly.
Well…I had to buy a DJ 36 then I was offered the Sub in lockdown because everyone was hunkering down. Then a Reverso to show that I wasn’t a flipper. Then I was offered the GMT. Plus I took my AD to lunch a couple of times which is no chore as he’s a very interesting guy. So it wasn’t “easy” and I’m not so rich I can hang on to them all indefinitely but I’ll always keep the Pepsi.
"SETTLED" for a white 300m a year or two ago. Bracelet is horrendous, rubber with deployant is OK but not enough. Settling for Omegas such as AT, 300m, speedmaster, etc really didn't scratch the itch. Gave those watches to wifey, and traded one in. Now have a bluesy and BLRO to add to the blue DJ41 + Ranger, and never looked back. Ranger is a perfect daily beater watch. I feel like my collection is now complete kababayan :)
I do agree with the seamaster’s bracelet, it’s beyond horrendous😂 but i do love Omega, i can feel it in my souuuul that i’ll get a seamaster on a rubber strap in the future. :) you’ve got a collection that most would just dream of! For me the 5 digit Rolex’s fit much better on a smaller wrist.I have the Batman and I traded my 114060 in part x for a 116520 daytona.I’m thinking of getting a 14060m as they fit great and are readily available on the grey market.Good luck.
I’ve been on the Batman waiting list for seven years…I’ve given up and just settled for only owning the SD43, which I got at an AD, after waiting only a month.
If I'm told that you have to wait 2-3 years for a Rolex, then my decision would be easy, I'd buy an Omega or a Breitling or any other same level brand and forget about Rolex. Lets realise one thing, and that is, Rolex has brought this situation upon themselves with the unavailability and over inflated prices, it's their sales strategy to make themselves more exclusive, which they're not.
Do yourself a real favour mate. Go try the seamaster 300 heritage. It has the wrist presence of a modern Rolex and it’s, to me, better looking than a sub…

It is about time to stop comparing Omega to Rolex. Rolex prices are above Omegas. Their prices are fare from justified. So let's compare it to Jaeger-LeCoultre, Blancpain... something in their price range. That would be interesting.
Depending on how you measure, it's not 1 mm... The sub rounded up to 41 mm but it's actually 40.5 and the GMT isn't really 40 it's probably closer to 40.3 or 40.2 so you're only dealing with a difference of 0.3 mm ...

I grew up wanting a rolex, I got to the point were I nearly bought an Omega because I did not want to deal with AD. It was going to be a mistake, never settle for your second best. Omega a great brand but not what I wanted.

If you do go down the ‘Omega of Shame’ route because you cannot get a Rolex, you should get the AD to gift you the deployant rubber strap/clasp over that horrible pin buckle one. I would suggest 10% off on top of complementary strap and clasp.

You’ll be waiting a long time for a Seamaster in 39mm or 40mm as it’s never been either of those sizes. Not for the last 40 years at least. What’s known as the Bond Seamaster was 41mm and only had 36mm and 32mm versions. There was never a 39 or 40mm. And the m in 300m stands for metres.
