People who exaggerate in obeying the rulers need to read the Hadiths Sahih Bukhari 7257, Sahih Bukhari 4765 and Sahih Muslim 4776. What many of the scholars are preaching looks like what happened with the Pope in olden times. No questions asked, just obey the Pope. Yes, we should obey rulers but exaggeration in complying with the rulers and never opposing them is rooted in politics and maintaining their rule. Mixing such ideology with religion cements their power.
Fear Allah, nobody denies this. It is well known that you do not obey the ruler in disobedience to Allah ﷻ and his Messenger ﷺ. There is nobody who says to ‘exaggerate in obeying the ruler’, Shamsi says so at 2:52 in this video. BUT there is a big difference in not obeying them in evil and calling for revolt and revolution (khurooj)/ calling people to remove their hand from obedience altogether which is haram. I've always said Shamsi his knowledge is flawed. So you need to obey a corrupt leader that has become a leader in a corrupt way. And you can't rebel a corrupt leader because it can call fitnah(weird because we are already living in a fitnah) So this is what Samshi is saying. - If I'm not a leader and I'm against the corrupt leader I'm with the khawarij. - from the moment I personally take over that land by rebelling and become the new leader. Its fard for Shamsi to obey me to not cause more fitnah. So if you can find a grey area where you become a simple person to a leader. Suddenly Shamsi changes his way completely. This is why the logic of shamsi is flawed and can easily by refuted.
The hadith says to hear and obey the leader, even if it's an Abyssian slave. It's not Shamsi's own opinion. You're misconstruing it. If someone usurps leadership we still have to obey him if he is Muslim and has not fallen into clear kufr. But this is so hypothetical what you're saying because Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Al Qayyim mentioned that every instant where Muslims did khuruj the harm always outweighed the benefit. الله يحديك

And left out the other clear hadith which says to obey “even if he beats your back and takes your wealth, and doesn’t follow the guidance of the prophet.” Is the person spoken about ruling by shariah if he doesn’t follow the guidance? Clearly not. But yes, leave out the clear well known hadiths to ones that may been seen as ambiguous. Fear Allah.

I have to break the news to you. Islam starts off with the self and the relationship with Allah. Anything outside this is mixed with dunya. Boycotting Starbucks is great on paper but in reality even in war countries do trade with each other. Best just start with yourself by establishing your prayer and the night prayers. Start with your immediate family and then neighbors and so on. Small steps make big steps.
