This must have happened to us two weeks ago. Driving along and suddenly #6 misfires. However, no noises. Not before and not after. Intake came damaged, but still replacement of both cams, rockers and followers. EXPENSIVE! But, did I do something wrong? 2017 Pacifica with 52K, all dealer oil changes on time and at less than 5K.

It's nice to find someone who will show the proper way, rather than some cheap quick fix. I just bought one of these (caravan) and now I have a bad lifter to replace. Already bought the tools and part to fix. Thank you, my wife wont like it being down for a couple of days, but such is life if she doesn't want me to spend 5k on a new motor.

I changed my lifters and rocker arms and my cam looked like the first cam you showed if I remember right 3 different lobes looked like that. But I made the decision to go ahead and use it cause the damage wasn't where the roller rides and I have since put 140,000 miles on it,rockers failed at 150,000 miles,I now have 290,000 miles and all is good! Now I just had a flexplate crack all the way around the flange. But really that's not bad for almost 300,000 miles. Other than those 2 things I had to replace some leaking coolant lines above the transmission and that's it. I bought it brand new and I'm the only one that's ever worked on it so i know what has been done to it!🤣

I've done 2 jobs that looked exactly like the 1st cam you showed. Just replaced the rockers and the customers were ecstatic at the money they saved over what other repair shops quoted them. I'm sure the other shops would have done exactly what I did at an extremely higher price.

Get the turbo version then you've got a cheaper srt4 setup in a pt cruiser. I was considering one when my Neon died but lil sister made me a great deal on her 06 Charger RT so I got it instead. You'd have at least a extra 100hp and still get decent mpg, and nobody would suspect a thing or steal it. Would be a fun ride and somewhat useful too. I've seen several needing minor work for around 1500.

Well they have basically the same setup and issues with the Hemi engines as well. I just got lil sisters 06 hemi Charger RT with 90k on it and engine runs great, no codes on any of the computers, and it's quiet. It only has 90k on it and is very quick for such a heavy pig. I plan to keep the oil changed and hope for the best. It has the Nag1 transmission and is in really nice shape and fun to play with, I think it even has a sure grip in the rear. Too bad it gets crap mpg, but my 95 Neon finally ate the timing belt and I figured it wasn't worth fixing with 190k on it.

Great Video!! I had a 2011 Durango with the 3.6 ltr V6. I never had a single problem with it other than the recall on the alternator. If people would just maintain their engines regularly using the oil that's recommended, and ya don't drive like a maniac- the engine will last. I gave my Dad my old 2004 Durango with 5.8 hemi and thay engine runs like a dream- nothing on the engine has been replaced other than the spark plugs and fluids. But I've seen a lot of problems with modern day dodge products with the introduction of fiat and now with possibly peugeot/citroen. BAD IDEA! They build crap!! WHICH is why I've switched to a LEXUS SUV.

How many different camshafts are there? 2 for each side or all 4 unique? I assume if someone is going to do the roller/lifter repair, they need to have rollers, lifters, and camshafts readily available if they need to be replaced (unless you don't mind doing the repair all over again later on).
@MotorCityMechanic

There are 4 different cams. They cost round $400 each. They need to plan ahead incase they need cams but I wouldn’t order all 4 until I know which I need…..if any at all. But you won’t know until you tear it apart. Yeah I would do all 24 lifters and rockers at the same time

David: if you get the camshaft position sensor on the wrong Bank will this cause the engine to run rough and have a mist fire on bank 2 on the 3.6 vvt 2014 dodge caravan? OR should I start all over by checking the timing chain marks on bank 2 making sure the camshaft phaser arrow or in line with each other. I have replace all 24 rocker arms and lifter replace the Exhaust camshaft.. and did it by the book like your video show but I got a P000C engine code and P0302 number 2 misfire P000C camshaft 1 position slow response.. So if bank (2) and bank (1) sensor or in the wrong position will this cause a misfire and rough Idle?

has anyone that has done this have any problems with the markings on chain not lining up on completion? Everything going good until that last cam then noticed markings on chain were three (3) links off. Any suggestions

dont you have to buy heads to replace the cam?, cuz arent the cams alinebored to match the heads when there built?

Nope. The cam bearing caps are machined with the head…..the cams don’t matter.

When I replaced the rocker arms the check engine light would not clear until I changed the camshaft. Is this normal? Had to re do everything again to change the cam...

What happens if you let it go too long And now there's metal shavings in your oil filter and in the oil? I'm kind of pissed off. I belong to a Jeep club and the guy that runs The club told me the ticking is coming from your exhaust. I changed the oil the other day and been finding metal shavings stuck inside of the filter and the bottom of the oil drain pan. Driving stopped Immediately
