A lot of what you said hit home with me I like the uniqueness of the car and the sight of the shaker when looking out the windshield. Also the 4v sound is tough to beat. So far I am loving my Mach 1. Can't wait to see how it feels once I get the 4.10's installed next week. The only issue is my wallet needs to recover or I would be getting 31 spline diff/axles done at the same time.
I have a 03 Azure Blue Mach1 5speed. I ordered the car in January 03 and she was delivered on February 10 , 03 and I love the car! I still drive her as much as I can, mostly on weekends. Your Mach1 looks and sounds awesome! Thanks for the cool videos!👍
I have an 03 DSG 5-Speed Mach 1 and last year took it on a 2300 Mile road trip from central Cali to Nevada to eastern Idaho to Oregon and back to CA. It's a joy to road trip. Has a touch over 70K miles on it. Has a few mods and makes about 300HP at the wheels. Last of the small Mustangs.

Shaker hood is the trademark of the New Edge Mach 1. I love the look of them. If Ford didn't make the 03-04 Terminator Cobra, I would be driving an 03-04 Mach 1 right now.
I've had to do alot of work to mine even with super low miles but I love mine. Hated ford's for years but I got behind the wheel and my mind was changed immediately

I sold my Terminator a year ago and I am seriously thinking of buying one of these with an automatic. I am old and my left knee isn't great. I love the shaker hood. I just hope I won't be too disappointed with the power.
I sold my Terminator in 2013 and regret it. I found a white Mach 1 like in the video I am thinking about going to look at this weekend. I don't know much about it but it is a 5 spd. I think it needs some work, but it isn't trashed. They also have a 99 Cobra vert, but it isn't in great shape.
@@isaace8090 I did buy a Comp Orange 5 speed car last spring and I love it, maybe every bit as much as the Cobra and in some ways more. The Mach is less refined than the Cobra, reminds me more of driving an old muscle car. Even with less horsepower it still goes pretty well and it takes just a little longer to get to lose your license speed. Good luck with your search!
@@garfgo Good to hear! One of my buddies back in 2004 had the comp Orange mach. It was nice. I bought a 97 Cobra at a dealership in 2003. They had a new red Mach 1 there. I've always had a desire to own one but seemed to get distracted with Cobras and a Lightning. Now the Mach 1 just seems to be on my radar. I also have a 69 Mach 1 that is white so this car would be a modern twin.
@@isaace8090 That's what I do, something catches my interest. I thought about first gen or second gen Lightning, 2012-13 Boss - but too expensive. The Machs are still affordable. I'm jealous of your 69 though, the best looking Mustang of all time.
@@garfgo I've had similar thoughts to you. I looked at the Boss, thought about another Terminator, thought about another Lightning, but the Mach is still talking to me. I bought the 69 back in 2002 as a dumb kid when they were still affordable. It really needs restored again as it sat for a few years. I'm actually thinking of just getting it running, warts and all and drive it while I work on a different project. It doesn't need much, just some time, I already have the parts, and now I have a shop and the space needed to make it happen.
I'm looking for cobra like your white 97 but if I were to come across 03-04 mach 1 for the right price I wouldn't turn it down, especially if its azure blue. Dont know how many people actually think about this but the new edge mach 1 is the only non-SVT mustang to come with the 4 valve 4.6.
It's the only non svt to have a 4v of any kind. The gt500s were 5.4 4v 2000 cobra r was too both are svt vehicles. I have owned a bolt on 97 cobra and bolt on Mach and driven couple others the Mach 1 is the best choice if you're gonna stay na much easier to get power out of na. If you're gonna boost it the cobra might be better because of the teksid block. B heads also work well with boost and c heads work well na but you can do either with either I'm just telling you the ideal car depending on what you're gonna do with it and what kind of build. The 3650 is better than the t45 also.
The seats are nice on these. They're better when you remove that ugly seat belt holder thing. Looks more clean. All you gotta do is remove headrest and unbolt it then put headrest back = 100% better. I did that on my fbo tuned Mach back in the day. The shaker is classic. Super cool car. The shaker is one of the biggest things missing on the new one. That and a more unique more powerful powerplant (not a normal gt engine with a gt350 manifold (leftover bullit engine). The gt put down 220 stock Mach does 280ish wheel cobra does as much as 380 wheel stock. The Mach and cobra are underrated.
The mt82 isn't as bad as people make it out to be. A good clutch and shifter with a fluid change and you're kosher. I get what you're saying about being different I've always had a thing for the unique ford's that are fast and you don't see every day. The marauders go into that category, the mach 1, all cobras, gt500s, cobra r, lightnings, raptors, all of the st and rs fiesta and focus models, the SHO from all years, svt focus. Lincoln mark 8 with the 4v, etc. There is something about those cars that really do it for me. The boss 302 and modern gt350 also fit the bill. Ford has lost their way lately even though they're making very fast cars they aren't as interesting and unique and don't have near the character overall their older cars had.
Why do people who have a 03 fill in the Mustang on the rear, like an 04? I went back to original look on mine. I am going to get my engine updated to have a little more horsepower.
Does anyone know “what” gives it that “sound”? I’ve had an 88’ 5.0 cobra. 🐍 had it! 2017 GT “didn’t have it”. Just nabbed a 98’ GT 4.6 “HAS IT”! WTF? Gives it that sound in the old days?
Do you think I should buy an automatic Mach 1 with 138k miles on it for 12k. There has also been a transmission swap. I was thinking of offering around 4-6k
You can easily average high teens depending on driving style and city/highway ratio and gearing etc. I got 27+ on the highway in my fbo stock 3.55 geared Mach back in the day.
The 3v really isn't "slow" its just slower than a coyote. You gotta realize it's a 4.6 sohc motor from like 20 years ago it doesn't do that bad when you really think about what it is and the power it makes stock and modified. It makes more stock and modded than the old 5.0 pushrod did and it does it with less cubes. People unfairly compare it to newer larger higher compression and more tech coyotes and because it's slower than them they get called "slow". If everything that was slower than coyotes or had less potential was called slow there would be alot of slow shit out there.
