Locky very impressive as always. You posted a video 9 months ago about Piroe when we signed him titled “Why Piroe is a statement for Leeds United” you specifically mentioned that he doesn’t fit the system & that he lacks work rate or pressing. You were spot on! I hope Farke finds a way to utilize Piroe’s talent and hopefully we can see more of Joseph as well.
I hope so too Isaac. I was shocked how bad he was at times to be honest (first touch, pace, agility ) but ye we need a find a way to make this guy fit for sure.
@@LockyyLeeds me too mate, I mean the amount of times he got dispossessed of the ball due to his agility or ball control or overall awareness was shocking to be honest. But, I know he can improve.

Would like to see Mateo Joseph get some decent game time this season but worry DF won’t give him his chance . Apparently we are linked with a Colombian forward !!
It's such an important position, I really think we should spend a good chunk of our money on a top striker. I get the temptation to just keep the 3 and hope but for me we need to buy a better bamford.

Dude, we only have so much financial space and there are other positions we *must* fill. We have three strikers, two of them among the best in the division. There is no "top striker" available for us to buy and we don't have the space to buy one.
Joseph set to go to the Olympics. He will be away for pre-season and the first games. Farke would have benched him anyway. We desperately need a striker. Piroe only operated as a no.9 in one match v. Norwich. Bamford always injured and very inefficient with chances.
One issue we might have is if we lose say Gnonto and Summerville that's 30 goals from our 80 ish. If the 3 behind the 9 are James, Aaronson and Rutter (clearly we hope James does well again and the others score more...) we may need more goals from the starting 9 to compensate. Anorher team issue is the we need more set piece goals and more generally from the defence and double pivot players. Still agree with you that Joseph backed by the others makes most sense!
Good review. I think you’re right in that we have the talent across the 3 we need, but it does hinge on Joseph and for that reason I think he has to forego Olympics to do a proper preseason and break through. I believe if so he can get 15 goals minimum this season. Joel will contribute a similar amount as he’s clinical so will make the most of his time, plus Bamford dip in with 10 across the season. I think there’s 35-40 goals to be had. C’mon Joseph.
Locky, great video as always. I can't fault your logic, but for me Joseph needs to be with Leeds for the full pre-season if he wants to compete for a starting spot. Farke has already demonstrated that he won't use players he doesn't know/trust, so i fear he'll end up on the bench again which is no use for us!! For Joseph's sake and ours he needs to miss the Olympics. If he goes to the Olympics he needs to go out on loan because i don't think he'll get game time with us and then we need to secure a CF that will play.
Feel like we need to make our mind up on bamford with 2 years left on his contract not going to get another but whose going to but him a major dilemma I think and not good enough if we go up
Locky knows I’m a huge Joseph fan I would even go as far to say, in Joseph we have a generational player who if treated right by the club could be here for years. I think we need to buy a better Striker than what we have altogether so Joseph gets promoted to the 2nd #9 and can learn from our starting #9 that’s the way normal clubs operate with youngsters. And for all those people talking about the Olympics Joseph hasn’t been chosen to play in the Olympics so calm down and if he is chosen he should go he’ll come back more experienced and full of confidence. Farke hasn’t given him the minutes so why wouldn’t he go if you make empty promises to players what do you expect them to do?
We cannot buy a better striker because even if one was available we can't spend that kind of money. But one isn't available. You're going to be shopping for strikers who are flawed or unproven. If Joseph was a generational talent, you would just start him. Why would you ever not play him? Rooney played as a teenager. Shearer was a regular in the top league. Owen was too. Archie is a regular. If Joseph is that good, you'd simply pick him. Of course he isn't. Or hasn't shown he is yet. We have the perfect setup for him. Bamford starts and Joseph is brouht through this term. Bamford won't play 46 matches. so there are plenty of games for Joseph. They can even rotate and Joseph can get starts on the left too.
Good video Locky for me the new striker to start every match is Matty Joseph he's young willing to learn Patrick has taken him under his 🪽 wing and he is willing to learn shows NO fear Skill full and adaptable. We definitely don't need a striker. We can start Bamford and give Joseph minutes when Bamford can't play. He can also play on the left some of the time. By midseason he'll have made his case, if he can make it.
Always a bit of fallacy when we say “lose the player, lose the goals” - not quite a foregone conclusion though is it Locky? Someone else may be there to convert the chances. I often wonder if comments around Bamford are based on familiarity rather than what we see in a match. He’s been around a while though and we’re waiting (hoping) for Farke to trigger the succession plan (Joseph) it doesn’t seem imminent. I have no doubts we need to shuffle, it’s good practice if nothing else. But here’s the thing Locky, if an old stalwart like Bamford displaces Farke’s new guy then he chose the wrong guy! But let’s not change a tomayto for a tomato cos we’re tired of seeing him. Can’t think of too many 9’s available we can afford in the market but maybe we have one already. I don’t want to wait to see if we have a great centre back, 10, and 9 in our ranks because Farke refuses to bow to public demand. Assess the evidence, make a decision and just go with it. (Maybe he has already!) Like your stuff mate… different! 👍
We all know this. Problem is noone will else will take him on with his injuries and giant wage packet. I think we ll have to pay him out of his contract or send him on loan and pay part of his wages...
Why? He's no better than what we have, not good enough for the Premier League and if we spent the money to buy him we canot buy a decent centreback or a progressive midfielder. We'll be a bit shitter than we should be and for what? A bang average striker.
after sitting on the bench all season, you can't blame Joseph wanting to play football, don't know if Farke played him more he might not have gone, Mateo was English 6 months ago. Bamford is unreliable, fitness wise, no matter how good he is and Piroe had one outstanding game, (Norwich) as the centre forward. As we have been saying at Leeds United for years . . . Buy a No.9! MOT✌
Really annoyed Joseph puts country before club. It will irritate the hell out of Farke too. Bad bad decision if he goes and misses end of pre season. Rumours of Bamford leaving (Fulham) are out there (probably Bamford's agent wants one big pay day!!! 😂), so suspect we will be forced into the market. Probably buying a winger/striker, as that is the Leeds way alas.
Can’t knock Joseph for wanting to go to the Olympics.. we had players last season going to play in pointless friendlys in the international break before the Watford game which was in the final stages of the season so a vital part example gruev and Gnoto went to play in friendlys and came back injured. Point been the Olympics is a big thing especially for a young lad I can see why he wants to go take Leeds bias out of it it’s understandable where as players going off in pointless friendlys I really don’t get. Farke also didn’t trust Joseph enough last season
Last season, Joseph had the options to play in Italy, Spain, Germany, and other clubs in England, yet did not ask for to leave. Sat the bench and did not complain, and now you expect him not to take the chance to play at the Olympics..
Total nonsense, you only get 1 chance to go to the Olympics, at Leeds Farke for whatever reason sees him as 3rd choice striker behind Paddy 'bruised knee' Bamford and Piroe, take away the fact that its Leeds and put yourself in his place.
