@@adamw9021rome would fall? Do you mean the roman empire or the roman catholic church? Because the roman catholic church fell 4 centuries before with the great schism of 1054. But the roman empire fell precisely in 1453.
The Romans had the world against them, they were hit the hardest by the black death, were constantly invaded on literally all sides and defeated most. But in the end it the empire was stretched to its limit
@@heroicnerd6404 black death actually did little to the byzantine empire after the plague of justantinian they took measures to prevent diseases from spreading.
According to the legend that marble is in Hagia Sophia Mosque. And i have seen that marble several times. I have to say it doesn't look like there is an emperor inside.
@@dominikdurkovsky8318 as a catholic....ermm....we kinda....sacked constantinople and weakened the byzantine empire during the crusade times so....yea...lol
@@syedfasi14 like i said. Not for us. İts Ottoman>Rome(byzantine is east rome if you dont know) all Day. İ mean we won and we took the city and we didnt massacred no one unlike eastern barbarians or western barbarians so we dont care if you cope or not.
To be fair most emperors had Augustus in their name, what is even cooler is that the founder of Rome was Romulus and the last emperor of the West was Romulus.
@@DISTurbedwaffle918 Odoacer was part of the Roman military, was supported by the Senate, and made the Senate stronger. He was a Western Roman Emperor that decided to call himself King.
I am from Greece and I prefer to think of myself more as a Roman than anything else. My emperor Constantine, I pray that the Roman Empire will always be remembered by men so long as they walk on this Earth. And through your deeds, you have succeeded in cementing the glory of the Romans forever.
"God forbid that I should live as an Emperor without an Empire. As my city falls, I will fall with it. Whosoever wishes to escape, let him save himself if he can, and whoever is ready to face death, let him follow me."
True. Plus, it's really weird to be happy about 1453 "Yeah, we destroyed the greatest and longest lasting in empire, so our shithole of an "empire" can rise
@@ocean7849 the turks made no significant accomplishments, they conquered the roman empire which at that point was weaker than the ancient greece of old due to 1000 years of disease and civil war, annexed some balkan kingdoms that were ravaged by the black death and who they outnumbered, and then got defeated by the first major power they bordered.
@@ocean7849 just expanding on your point, although I will say that upon viewing my older comment I gave the ottomans too little credit, they were for a very short period the dominant European power to the point were the could challenge the HRE. But reformed russia, Great Britain, and the North German Confederacy would crush them.
Considering the fact that he was considered a heretic by his people, Constantine XI's entire historical legacy got turned around by his valiant, desperate, and noble efforts to save his city
They’re just hating cuz he activated Mend the Schism and reunited the Western and Eastern Churches. Sadly the Turks installed their puppet patriarchs who supported schism rather than unity.
And Valens died tragically in the battle of Adrianople after his generals had betrayed him by leaving the battlefield as cowards. I literally cried over his death...
Nah Valens was overconfident and wanted to shore up his military credentials as the senior Augustus. He should have waited for Gratian’s army to arrive so that they could pincer the Goths between their armies and the Thracian coast. Adrianople wasn’t inevitable until Valens insisted on fighting with a half strength imperial army imo.
The fact that you cry over his death is honestly stupid, the man was an idiot, better to weep for all the poor dumb boys, who were gutted, butchered, or crippled for the rest of their life, because Valens couldn’t wait for another army to back him up, instead, he wanted all the glory of victory for himself.
@@generalcaesar3477 People are too harsh on Valens. His commanders fucked up the Goth crossing which made them start pillaging, and his info told him he outnbumbered them a lot, and they where barley armed.
The Romani fight for their country, not becuase it is the right thing to do, but because it is expected of the ordinary Romani. Konstantinos Palaiologos Dragases, lived his very last moments according to the MOS MAIORUM. The most fitting end for the empires of the Romani, the sons of MARS ULTOR, the people destined by JUPITER OPTIMUS MAXIMUS to rule over the world. The day will come that his heirs shall retake what he sacrificed his life for.
@Treslyn Fernandes and some Hellenes still call themselves Rhomaioi, but the Romans called themselves Romani. Generals many a times adressed their soldiers simply as Romani. Also the Romans adressed themselves as Romani in treaties such as AMICI POPULIS ROMANI (friends of the people of Rome) wich were composed out of the Italic but also many Greek cities and tribes in the early days of the republic. But i just, in a klassikal Latin stance enjoy calling the Romans by the way they adressed themselves on many occasion that's all.
Constantine XI, The last roman-byzantine emperor, He was said to be leading the last army to the gates of Constantinople, while the civilians and soldiers flee to the ports .
yeah, not that poor usurper kid forced into it by his father, having the Empire die with a whimper, opposed to this guy letting it go out how it should.
When I complained about being abused on a high school bus only response was " You are porcupine you do not like to socialize" so even a psychiatrist would not sign papers for vaginoplasty since if I were female I could complain until the world capitulates.
For one empire to rise, another must fall. No hate guys I'm from Türkiye but I actually love Rome and Byzantium Empire's history, I really respect to Constantine XI. He was a brave and loyal Emperor for his country
The byzantine ending era of the Roman empire was truly the saddest chapters in European history. Constantly trying to stand up and rebuild, but always beaten down by fellow Christian betrayals, attacks by neighbors, civil wars, the black death, and invading Muslim ottomans. Constantine XI was a true roman emperor that can stand proudly with the best of his predecessors.
From Roman Catholic Mexican , the Romans won. They passed the torch to Spain , Spain united all the barbarian tribes in the Americas under 1 religion Roman Catholicism , 1 Romance language Spanish, and 1 single Empire , The Spanish Empire from Mexico to Argentina to Puerto Rico in this land we pray to God and and believe in the blood of Jesucristo and our mothers are named Maria and our fathers Jose and our sons are Juanes and Julianes and Felipes and Santiagos , we go to Church on Christmas Eve and we shut down the nation when the Pope is present. We have beautiful cathedrals and named our cities Monterrey , Guadalajara , Veracruz, San Juan , San Salvador , San Francisco and Our Lady of Los Angeles and Santa Fe. Even though Mehmed the Conqueror is my favorite historical figure, the ottoman empire my favorite empire and Istanbul my favorite city I couldn't help but feel bad for Constantine XI even though I was happy the conquered Constantinople.
Let us remember that this man died in communion with Rome, after trying to realize the reunion of the eastern and western churches, whilst his people called him a heretic, rejected the council of Florence, and proved just how "Roman" Rome hating Greeks were.
Bruh the empire was pillaged by western europeans and after that it was betrayed by the serbians and the bulgarians you took an already dead empire and he almost gave up to get the city
No, he’s right, to the victor goes the spoils. Though he should be glad that Britain and France intervened in the Crimean War, and that the Russians turned Red before they could bargain for Constantinople after WW1. For alas, all nations are bound for ruin. Just as that Jewel of the Bosphorus was taken by the swords edge by Mehmed, so too can it be stolen away by those same means if it’s custodians begin to neglect it. And I wonder, who next will claim the Roman mantle and become inheritor to its legacy. Time will only tell :P
Also, Octavian was only 18 when he became the heir to Caesar, and I’m certain he ruled over a larger empire by his death than Mehmed. If we’re measuring dick sizes XD
As a rajput, the rajput warriors would commit shaka(last honorary stand) the men would ride into battle knowing certain death and women would immolate themselves into fire to avoid enslavement I salute the never dying spirit and courage if last great roman empror constantine XI who died much like my ancestors did in light of turkish invasion
