Please keep these up. I really appreciate what others have done to promote this platform, but you are the first person I can understand. You have a ton of content to share. Thanks for this.
The M4 iPad definitely can handle some of the more complex compute/AI functions whereas the M1 couldn't - example you can use magic mask and a color dynamic keyframe at the same time and it chugs right through. The one limitation that I want most is the mixer to be added to Fairlight on the iPad so I can do voice overs. No way to do it right now. The one thing people have to do is make sure your LUTs and effects on your platforms are kept in sync. MotionVFX has made it easy, but the free add ons have to be done manually.
I always use Davinci on my Macbook (actually the M3 Max) to edit my videos for my RU-vid Channel. In these days I bought the 11" iPad Pro M4 ... and your video is helping me a lot. Thank you so much! Obviously I subscribed to your channel to follow more advices from you and because it is nice to help fellow RU-vidrs!
Can you please tell how is the performance? Can you have multiple 4k videos on top of each other? Do the MagicMask or trackers or complicated transitions work flawlessly?
@@M_Mehdi_Mousavi It is surely less powerful than the M3 Max in rendering and editing the videos. Still it is an awesome fan less machine that is capable to work as much as a laptop. The problems may come from the programs
@@KankukanAiki Thanks. I need something to have Davinci Resolve on, and every kg counts in my backpack during my long travel. I need to know if it's possible to work on multiple 4k h.264 videos at the same time or not? And if the MagicMask and trackers are usable in a way that I could do my work completely on iPad, or there is no way other than taking my laptop with me? 🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@M_Mehdi_Mousavi I am not at that level for using masks on Davinci Resolve on IPad. Let me say that you can use it at its 80/90% of what you find on the laptop version..
HI and thanks for the video. I have been using DR on my M2 iPad Pro for two years now and the only thing that makes it crashes is thermals. Once I found the way to efficiently keep my M2 iPad Pro cooled down it did not crash anymore and I edit real estate videos using 4K 10 bit 4:2:0 for ever thing and work flawlessly. Same can happen to the M4 if you push hard since iPad cooling system is ok but not designed for going really hard. Same problem and solution applies for the MacBook Air. Bests regards from a Venezuelan viewer in Panama!
Oh interesting! iPads and MacBook Airs don't have a fan, so that makes sense. I have found a bug recently that can crash it 100% of the time tho, so it might also be a combination of bugs and thermals. Hope Blackmagic can continue to improve the iPad app version.
Nice video, thanks! Does the Apple Pencil Pro support the “hover” functionality in DaVinci Resolve for iPad? Meaning that you can see where the pointer is before you touch the screen with it? Have issues on iPad Pro M1 12.9” not being able to see where the pen exactly will touch, many times leading into clicking the wrong buttons, etc. Can you do a video to go more in-depth for your whole workflow, for example editing a video from A to Z on the iPad. Thank you!
Thanks a lot for the very informative video 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I want to buy an iPad just for Davinci Resolve for my travel, and I really need your advice 🙏🏻🌸 Can you please tell about the actual performance of opening 3 or 4 4k videos and editing them? Should they be ProRes to be smooth or h.264 is also handled smoothly? Do MagicMask and trackers work flawlessly or are they so slow and problematic or inacurate that makes them useless? Thanks a lot
I have a question about the cloud. I've used the cloud service for the photo editing software, Capture One. The big problem is that it can take an hour to download/upload a gig of data. How does DR cloud work in terms of time. How does it compare to drop box? Why do you use both? Is there a best way to approach using two? Is prefer to use one, or the other. Which would you recommend between the two? You could almost do a video just on the questions I asked... Lol🤔
Ah yes it's VERY confusing! and I can totally do a separate video, but the tldr is BM cloud has 2 parts: one is the part where you can collaborate with others or sync with other devices. the other part is the cloud file storage. You can actually choose to not use the file storage from BM cloud and use another service like Dropbox or Google Drive which is what I'm doing! I like doing this because Dropbox has better integration with Files/Finder app, and I was already paying for a 2TB plan anyway.
@@YukaOhishi please do a video about cloud storage and all the considerations. Cloud storage has become a feasible option and really needs illumination. Thank you! 📸🌞
That’s a really nice video thank you for the tips I have only one question. Do you use the studio version or the normal one? And if you use the studio version, does you Keyboard trick works on the normal version too?
Thanks for the video. I am still confused weather should I go for Ipad Air M2(2024), or the new ipad pro 2024 as a davinci resolve user… The price difference considering the extra pay for The new pencil for ipad pro( I need it for staffpad as a musician) is so much if the performance difference in resolve is not that much noticeable. Is there is something you couldn't do by M2 in Resolve in terms of performance( real-time not rendering), that you can now in M4? That would be so helpfull for people like me that real life tests are more important than benchmarks tests. I know that future updates always make difference in software usage of hardwares and also sometime not, I just needed to know your experience in Resolve if the there is a huge difference in terms of being able to have heavier projects in resolve on M4 or not. Thanks
I enjoyed your video, thank you. The only thing I would like to highlight to your viewers is that when you’re on the iPad it probably means your mobile and what I discovered was that unless you have an Internet connection you can’t do any editing which kind of Defeats the object of the mobility of an iPad and blackMagic cloud. It was a nightmare, and I understand why but it’s not sophisticated enough to sync the off-line changes unlike things like Microsoft OneNote and other apps.
Ah yes!! It’s the same on the Mac but you do need internet connection for blackmagic cloud! I really enjoy having cellular connection on iPad for this reason.
I like your style of instuction... without the painful comedy 99% of the other instructors try to put in... 'dive in, jump in... etc.' Please teach other instuctional content creators how to eliminate their comedy routines and get to the point., I will check out your other videos. I bought the iPad to use for DaVinci not realising it wasn't the same as Studio version on my laptop... I took a course with ASC - we did a half day at technicolor and the technician there said DaVinci on IPad was the best way to see color.
Like the edit pages right? If you added the keyboard shortcuts, you need to press them! If that doesn't work, make sure the shortcuts are not interfering with existing ones.
