So much respect for Marianne Vos. This was her 253rd road win! She is the GOAT without any doubt. National championships, world championships, Olympic gold medals, road cycling, cyclocross and track cycling.

One more thing on Vos. She’s 36 now and she already was a World Champion at age 18. She’s so ridiculously talented she managed to outlive entire generations that came after her. And she’s STILL WINNING major races!

She is also a big advocate of women’s cycling at the UCI. Literally, breaking ground for the current cohorts of young female cyclists.

Vos is Boss. Wow. Reminds me of the Cecilie stage win in the 2022 tour. Adding another bike length every second of that sprint. What a dominant ride.

Vos just is the G.O.A.T. She reminds me a lot of of Valverde. If you take her to a finish of a reduced group without any pure sprinters in it, she ist absolutely lethal.

It’s about time the women started getting more coverage. One thing I have always been proud of as a former ski racer is that ski racing has had equality between the sexes for a long time and the prizes, coverage, and enthusiasm from fans has been equal. It’s about time other sports caught up and began making women’s sports more prominent.

I find it great that Eurosport broadcasted both the women's and the men's spring classics, happening the same day. This year I got to watch mostly all of the women's races and it was so thrilling. A different and deserving winner in every race, intense battles. The Paris-Roubaix win of Lotte Kopecky had me on the edge of my seat. Absolutely thrilled with Vos' form this year and also seeing more teams getting a win for themselves. The level keeps on rising and as spectators we get to enjoy the awesome work of these athletes.

Only problem: woman don’t watch womans sports. It’s the men. And even they hardly have the time to also follow woman’s cycling. But when no one is watching woman’s sports, guess who’s fault it is? Men and their toxic patriarchy.

Yep never drag Vos to to a short uphill finish. I think that was her 253rd win and do it at 36. I was completely bumbed when Gaia crashed and couldn't start today. Vos and Gaia are a couple of my favorite riders.

Yo can anyone explain why Marianne Vos’s acceleration is so much better than everyone else’s, in flat sprints and uphill punch finishes, when her quads are so much smaller than everyone else’s? I’m so confused
@jnxmck
@jnxmck 13 дней назад
Size doesn't directly correlate to strength/power output, simple as that. Watch some Olympic Weightlifting or Powerlifting videos and you'll see it's not always the biggest athletes that have the highest numbers.

Amazing shes still one of the best in the peleton. Annemiek and Anna Van der Breggen would still be up there too if they didn't retire. Vos will probably be one of those riders that doesn't know when to retire and go on too long.

@JaemanEdwards yeh, that's the danger that Vos could then hit a barren spell if she doesn't retire in her prime. Like Jeannie Longo in the late 90s who didn't know when to quit.
