It's amazing how badly CA have dropped the ball on this. They had the warhammer community, a living pile of money who are used to being treated like dirt and managed to lose their confidence. It's not just greed, it's incredible stupidity.

For those that say "I have a job so i dont care about 20$", its not what its about. Its about not letting greedy devs enstablish this price as a default.

So that everyone understands what happening at CA : The main dev team that created the warhammer games, is working on a multiplayer arena shooter called "Hyenas". Only a handful of devs are working on TWW3 now. Literally a single dev on bug fixes, and he's got other responsibilities too.

Heard about your review on Legend's most recent stream and needed to check it out. Thanks for taking the time to make this scathing review and for being brutally honest on behalf of the Total War community. I hope CA will listen and do better, but at this point we're all so jaded aren't we? Take the $25 I would have spent on this half-assed DLC because I'd say you've put more heart into this video than CA is putting into treating their fans well.

I was just like you friend, they were the chosen ones. I bought every single dlc as it came out over the years. Even chaos dwarves. Each person has likely payed hundreds of dollars for these games and expansions, hundreds of thousands have likely paid this much, Shutting it down like they threaten will end them.. I dare them.

Worth noting that SEGA’s stock price has more then doubled since 2019. Company has been making money hand over fist

so, with multiplayer balancing, why don't they just, you know, make seperate values for single and multiplayer. or PVP changes seperate from PVE. Like Elden Ring.

I agree with this message so much that I want to give you money because of it. Honestly, so many of the points you’ve made can be applied to so many major gaming studios right now. It shouldn’t be too much to ask to just have, you know, good content that works and doesn’t bankrupt you.

Just wanted to add. For the people that make the argument that it's still "a lot of time for that money". But you shouldn't look at it like "price per time" but "price per content". By design Warhammer is made to take a long time. But just because, compared to other titles like the Resident Evil games or Detroit Become human, you can get more time out of it, that itself doesn't justify this price. If that was the deciding factor then any game with replay value or a long gameplay loop would cost more, but they don't. Even within CA's internal pricing this decision doesn't make sense, even if they account for inflation. It's almost half the price of the base game for nowhere near half the content. Chaos dwarfs were SOMEWHAT understandable, not even them but it was bearable, but this is ridiculous.

I'll only buy this if it's 75% off, which means never--because CA will never discount it that much, not if their new greedy ethics remain in play. This franchise is "dead" to me. And I'm their cash cow, fanboy audience. It's such a shame that they went the way of EA, Blizzard, etc. They haven't fixed a damn thing in months . They deserve to eat their hats on this one.

You, Sir, have earnt a subscription. I agree 110%, especially in regards to impact of cost of living and how insane CA are to pick *now* as the right time to raise prices. As a side-note, the part about playing all night to avoid going to bed resonates big time: I used to avoid sleeping until the last possible moment, because my panic disorder was so bad I'd literally fear dying in my sleep. TW: Warhammer was one of the ways I coped, and seeing it turned into what it is today is terrible.

Everyone always treats the campaign as a purely single player experience… I primarily play with my friend group, so campaign balance is still very important to me/us.

Most of the time whenever I hear from the company about how people are harassing the devs... I honestly feel like its people actually harassing the suits and they are just saying that people are harassing the staff and devs so they can stop getting hated on. Its typically always a tactic they do to get pity or some shit to make the hate go away or to turn the community against itself by making people hate one another regardless of whether they are actually saying anything against the devs. Mind you, the only time I've seen a whole community turn fully against the corporate fucks was in the Devil May Cry series. Literally turned its community against it entirely overnight.

Yeah, I agree with you here. I won't buy the DLC until the price hopefully changes. I really want to use the awesome giant Wendigos, but not enough to pay $25 for the worst DLC in terms of price to content ratio.

I'm just glad that Larian had come out and set an example for how things should be done with Baldur's Gate 3. You're right about the disjointed psycho shareholders. Unfortunately, good companies are exceptions pretty much in every industry nowadays.

The FLC lord truth bomb was heavy. I completely forgot about this fact. Drycha, Rakarth etc... Rakarth is an FLC lord that even has a famous VA. 15:35 yes! keep talking about the bugs! Price increases when the game is a buggy mess is preposterous. 21:20 Create a bug fixing team, this would benefit fantasy and historical, since making older games better and wh3 too, would make everyone happy. Since they clearly dont want to make the sequels that the historical fans are asking for. 900 employees, what are they doing? Poor management clearly. Clear misuse of resources. 22:30 Baldur's gate 3 is a breath of fresh air, one of the few games that were released with the " Feature complete" seal of approval.

Been saying this the whole time. I don't care if it's on sale or for free don't want it. Besides the Changeling he looks cool still he's not worth $25 USD.

I haven't felt this lukewarm for a DLC since Queen and the Crone but at least the price was bearable.

Total war takes such a hardcore computer to run well. I think increasing the wealth gap more for this game is a mistake for online game play.

So we waited over a year to pay 40% of the base price for a re-skinned cauldron, a re-skinned dragon, and a lord that copy pastes assets that already exist in the game. *So CA, you have chosen, death.*

Thank you for the video, you are clearly passionate. I do enjoy Warhammer 2 and 3 but after the statement I did leave a negative review. I’ll watch the new lords via RU-vidrs but I will definitely not be buying it at this price.

The main thing i wanna see is to be able to customize more Lords, like when we give them a weapon it actually changes the weapon they use, just cosmeticly of course(you still get the buffs and such), but i love that mechanic, customisable lords would be an amazing update

The most disapointing thing is that CA kept the trend of "this dlc character is the coolest, most unique, badass character in the game, oh and theres the other guy" but did it with 2 lords, i wouldnt even be that upset if all 3 were the most op, fun lords in the game, but CA decided to make the changling dlc with cathay and kislev as after thoughts

But as to the actual DLC and the price, before these kind of DLC's cost me half an hour of my life and gave me maybe 100 hours of entertainment. This will cost an entire hour and honestly none of these factions are ones I enjoy, so max this will get me 30 hours while I try to make Cathay feel less blah. If the math for you personally shakes out differently by all means buy it, but for me this just isn't valuable enough to justify.

Love how you mentioned the game has been what you turned to in difficult times. Everybody has up's and down's, and all of us die hard fans of this game have inevitably had one point whether we played the game for hours on end to seek shelter from life's difficulties. Greeding the game into the grave means it won't be there for my next tough time, and that's why I wish CA would've treated us fairly.

About five years ago I’d say I saw Rome total war on the App Store. I’ve always wanted to play an rts but I didn’t have a pc so Rome was introduction to the entire genre. I absolutely loved despite never getting fat and I wanted more. After a couple years of saving I got a pc this may and the first game I got was Warhammer lll. Your videos were a big help starting the game along with Zerkovich and Cody and it just pains see CA destroy it.

Good rant. One tiny correction, you mentioned the financial statements and said statements reveal that CA haven't paid dividends in 2022 or 2021. But that just means the suits are getting more and shareholders aren't. Costs may be up but they're clearly not going towards TWWH3.

It only just occurred to me that the way Total War is being developed, is almost like as if it were a MOBA selling new heroes/champions, which is really depressing.

First of all thank you so much for having the bravery to open up about the dark place you were in and I'm so glad this game helped you get through it, I can relate my friend and I share your hopes the game may yet be saved but it will all depend on Thrones of Decay. Honestly the generous and passionate support we had in TWW2 feels a distant memory, the price is up and the contents down, FLC is far stingier and they're handing out barely any patches

Lets put this into perspective. Back when dlc was 8 pounds as he said lets say 75% of players were buying it for that price. lets take this out of 100 to make this simple. 75 multiplied by 8 equals 600 in total. Remember that 600. Now the price is 20 pounds. Now they are getting maybe 25 of that 100. 25 multiplied by 20 equals 500. Most of the rest of the player base, simplified to say 50%, might now buy the dlc for a discounted price lets say they discount it down to the 8 pounds again, 50 multiplied by 8 equals 400. Now add the 500 and 400 to get 900. So the same number of people buying the product now earns thirty percent more money. 600 for one low price that most of the fans are happy to pay, OR 900 and they have to deal with angry comments. THAT is why they are doing it, pure greed. They don't care about their loyal customers and only care about squeezing every cent they can out of the fans.

1:48 I have 1000s of combined hours in this trilogy. I constantly replay the same campaigns. Skaven, Dwarves, Lizardmen, and Skarsnik(I'm not much of a fan of other greenskin factions, I just like gobbos). I could easily do an opening strategy for most of these factions Legendary Lords just from memory. The randomness of what factions succeed and fail, and the vastness of the map keep future playthroughs fresh. Ikit for instance. I almost always take the lands from the beastmen 1st. But then I might push up to Bretonia 1 game. I might push towards the Dwarves in another. I have even just sailed for Lustria and made friends with Skrolk before and just ignored everything near Skavenblight. The possibilities for the mid and end game is near limitless.

I see a lot of people claiming they are going to hold off on buying this overpriced turd. However, my faith in humanity is so low that I do not believe them. Oh well.

Great review but I have slightly different predictions for what CA will do. I think they will keep the price the same but push the DLC team to add a bit more content to try and justify it. TWW3 is the only game actively making them money rn so I really don't think they will ever shelve it. However by pushing the already small team to make more content in the same timeframe will likely make the problems with bugs worse as no one has any time to fix them and CA won't hire a maintenance team.

the way CA is taking the overall DLCs, with no free content alongside, what i would like would be to be able to pick and choose what you want from it at lower prices. it is unnacceptable, but if you are like me, who only really cares about the Tzeentch stuff, being able to buy that for 1-2 pound would be tolerable at least

As someone who’s hours in WH3 have gone down from playing other games, I won’t be changing that anytime soon. I usually enjoy modding the game too because the fan base can make better decisions and better content than CA themselves. I do hope the gaming companies will take notes from Larian Studios, FromSoft, and all of these are respectable companies and release content that we can both enjoy and a price we can respect.

Man, when you said that Warhammer 2 helped you in a really dark time that made me sad, Im not even the biggest Warhammer fan I much prefer History but damn... Just saw the Shadows of Change ad on Steam, and saw there was a sale, I thought maybe the whole community backlash might've done something. Clicked it to see it, and in Canada it's 35$, on sale for 30$. Chaos Dwarves is 21$ by comparison. I mean, I knew the price went up, but for Canadians it went up 14$ where as for Americans it was 10$. I had kind of thought it would have been adjusted for Currency already so it was even more jarring to see 35$ after hearing "25 is too much" all month.

So, I'm newer to your channel, like the past month or so. I just recently subbed but if I hadn't, I would of subbed on this video. I genuinely felt it when you said this game helped you get though a hard point in your life. maybe not with this franchise but with games in general. Idk how I feel about this. People complained about Chaos Dwarves being overpriced. Then Diablo 4 and tons of other games released 20-30 euro skins and we get a bunch of content for 20 euros. So im a bit indecisive about this dlc 😅

The biggest problem that I don’t hear people mention often especially with companies like CA and Bethesda is how heavily they just rely on modders. They don’t outright say it obviously but why two days after a release of a DLC or game can some guy not getting paid doing it a few hours a day can release a mod that fixes glitches, adds units or characters, even whole new factions like if anyone hasn’t seen it look at OVN lost factions which yes I understand is a full team but they are a small one and doing it with passion while CA has teams of dozens of people. And then they have the balls to raise the price and tell everyone that well they had to it’s the way of the world.

Beautiful rant bro. I just got tamurkhan alone from the new dlc I was expecting almost a year ago. I wish I could spent 9 usd for the kislev part of shadows of change. But I’ll just wait to get the dlc for Pennie’s in a year. I got almost all the tw2 dlc from steam key resellers for 25% of the price. I was late to the party for sure but what ever.

The thing is...I would pay $25 if this DLC actually had more to offer. Every patch and DLC breaks the game more and that's still a bleeding wound. Plus, a full race pack would be worth this price, but there's just not much you're getting with this DLC. People were hoping for something like new lords and heroes for all three factions and more units. Cathay STILL needs a melee hero. Plus, I feel like we have more than enough chaos factions in the game right now. I'd rather have Neferata, Nagash, or a Norsca rework. Hell, even the trailer for this DLC was lackluster compared to the hype the chaos dwarf one gave me.

HUGE props to speaking up like this. You are a very small channel and its obvious you know full well that this could and likely will kill your relationship with CA, early access etc. You have everything to lose and are still speaking up for the community, it doesn't go unnoticed and hopefully others can see that and you get even more support in whatever you continue to do.

yeah I was fine paying £18 for chaos dwarves because that dlc actually feels content heavy enough with a new fraction with its own mechanics and more than 2 dozen new units for them, Shadows of change on the other hand ehhhh changling alone ain't enough to win me over this time.

Sega ruined Phantasy Star, now they want to ruin TW Warhammer as well. They really do ruin whatever they touch.

I finally gave in and left a negative review on TWWH: III. I've got almost 800 hours in this game. I kept faith for so ridiculously long but this recent DLC is a very huge straw breaking this camel's back. Companies like Larian really show what competent management can do. CA is a good example of a company tanking its most successful IP for short term gains.

Time to spend my money on insanely expensive tiny pieces of plastic instead!

19:39 Lol, I actually got an ad for Shadows of Change just now. I agree with all of your points. I could forgive the DLC being over priced, it will eventually go on sale, but between crashes and bugs the game itself is not worth investing in right now.

If it was bug free and fixed the AI it would be worth it but the quality is horrible.

What else is bs is we all know the profits from dlc is going to the suits of the company and other projects. I’m sure like 2%-5% of the profit actually goes to warhammer 3. I mean they have a skeleton crew working on the game since launch 🤦‍♂️.

Simple business mindset of continuous growth has set bad standards for CA. After the massive success of chaos dwards they should have increased their costs to cover the extra profit and keep a realistic growth. They could(should) have assigned a janitorial team to steadily fix the game or hire/ put more people on the Wh3 project for better quality future content. But no, they saw the profit surpass their expectations and started to aim for higher profits in the next quarter. How do they expect this to happen? Same price against lower costs, as soc obviously has lower costs than chaos dwarfs. Not having the realistic perspective of the drop in customers customers the changes to this product will bring. It's not purely corporate greed, it's mainly incompetency in leadership. In both Sega and CA

and dont forgot using mods in multipler player everytime a mod updates, you have to resubscribe to it to properly download it or you 'll have incompatable versions

if they do do the 5 dollars a lord. they can also sell it as a pack for around 16/17 for all. or sell them solo for 5 a piece. i wouldnt mind

I mean, they have every incentive to raise prices until the brand it worthless, then strip the copper out of the buildings, sell it, fire everyone, and move on to the next opportunity. A stable, decent business usually isn't the goal, infinite expansion is. And when it comes to a video game company, there is a relatively low ceiling on expansion.
