Sometimes plumbing isn't black and white you have to venture into the grey zone. We will show you installing a radiator and explain WHY you shouldn't install a radiator like this but explain why we plumb it in this way.
Let us know in the comments what you think and would you have taken on this job?
In this video we will show you how to install a towel radiator, how to install pipework to a radiator, How to hang a radiator, how to install a thermostatic radiator valve, How to install a lock shield, plus how you work out the correct height to hang a radiator and most importantly why you normally DONT install a radiator like this

As an ex gas engineer, I always had a case of self doubt because I thought that I was the only gas engineer/plumber in the uk facing issue problems etc etc. I was really hard on myself this guy has really helped me out.

Thanks mick, we all have jobs that test us and don’t go right, hoping what I put out there relates to people and shows what really can happen out there 👍

Fantastic result! Years ago I had to do a back to back radiator job on 8mm 😱 It did actually work! Those plasterboard fixings are ace - been using them for years for anything vaguely heavy: rads, tvs, shelves and they’ve never let me down.

I would of been really worried if it was 8mm 😂 really don’t like microbore but very common on a lot of estates round by me, to be honest I haven’t used them much but really impressed with them 👍

I was expecting a flexi from the thumbnail😂 Rules are made to bent every now and then, you can only work with what youve got. Customers dont have unlimited budgets or the desire to rip their house apart to get it done exactly to the rule book. Sometimes you just have to make it work. Towel railed looked good in the end considering what you had to work with. 👌👍

I see there was a socket on the living room side of the wall. Would it have been possible to take a spur from that to supply an electric heated towel rail so that you could use the existing 10mm drops to serve just the new radiator? Great video, it's good to see how you solve problems.

Not a bad shout that but they wanted both to be off the heating system. They did think about heated electric towel rail 👍

Hello mate what do I mean by Individual drop and not go back to back?
@bluebulldog_uk
@bluebulldog_uk 8 месяцев назад
So there will be manifolds for flow and returns off the boiler in 22mm, manifolds then drop to 10mm and fed to radiators on individual circuits 👍
@scottking2857

I would of opened the wall up amendment to pipework then refitted wall and done a mirror wall behind the towel rail to hide the wall that cut out then refitted with ply wall then mirror then towel rail

If you're doing more than one install a month on tiles, use angle-grinder with diamond drill bits. Much faster, much more precise. I'd consider installing a pump. I'd install it in the wall behind some inspection hatch. Given the circumstances - excellent job. It's nice you show all kind of jobs not only the "model" ones.
@bluebulldog_uk
@bluebulldog_uk 8 месяцев назад
I’ve seen them that go on angle grinder they look really good might be worth getting some, going to see how they get in with the system balanced so hopefully should be ok. And thanks mate 👍
@Stefan_Kawalec
@Stefan_Kawalec 8 месяцев назад
@@bluebulldog_uk Only thing you need with those M14 core drills is a wax or crayons for smaller diameters (6, 8, 10, 12 mm). Brand-new they are filled with wax, that acts as a coolant. So in order to make them last you need to refill them with wax. I usually do it right after the use while they're still hot. I also use 3 mm masonry drill bit to remove that tiny bit of tile that stays inside the core-bit after drilling. Since 10 years I haven't used anything else to drill in tiles, stone or similar materials.

I wouldn’t have filmed this ,I tell you why 1-leaving a battery drill on a shelf that could be knocked off and fall and break something 2- gripping the valve with your adjustable it could mark the chrome 3 using that awful bulky plastic,when you could have used a copper to plastic fitting .4 It’s stretching it asking the 10 mm pipe to heat such a large back to back radiator,it would have been more efficient to install a single radiator.The holes you drilled was very good.
