Hi Buddy, that's a sweet coin. I have a lot of 59s and their hard to find in great condition. I have a few real nice ones not like the one you have. 69s & 68s are are hard to find without errors too. I inherited a coin collection that has like every coin year from 1910 and up. Some years I have a whole bunch of like 41, 44, 46, 55 and 59 wheat pennies. I don't know a lot about these so I'd like to go through them with someone who does and possibly sell them all. If I could get some help I'd be willing to give a percentage of what we make. Some of these coins look really weird like a mistake maybe and strange colors. I'm sure that's why my uncle kept them. I live in NE Oklahoma. My name is Jennifer.

Hey like your work here . I'm a novice collector at best and I learn alot from you so thank you.... I've come across a 1980s Washington Quarter' with the smooth edge were some Quarter's let loose with out the reading edge. I looked closely to see if it just wear along the edge and it is consistent all along the edge with no remnant of reading I was going to measure the diameter and weight also, of course I was hoping this is a rare error coin of some sort anyway I had to throw this your way to see what you thought about it Thanks

I got a 1959 no mint mark proof coin in my change this last Wednesday,(day B4 Thanksgiving) here in Phoenix from the $.99 store . Nearly crapped myself.

The 1959 Lincoln for $3.oo looked to be ones to have graded? Possible MS 65 RB Plus or better.

I just bought BU rolls of 1954, 59 and 65 for the purposes of bulk submission. I love Shaun’s content and am an avid roll searcher and I love how he educates the audience. But, if I may, I feel obliged to temper the expectations of non-numismatists who think this sort of thing is EASY to do. It actually is not. 99.999999999% of all 1959 Lincoln Memorial cents you will run across will be worth exactly……wait for it….ONE CENT. But go ahead, knock yourself out looking for the ultra rare stuff. There’s no harm in it. Just don’t expect to find that one in few hundred million coin. Too many people who do not know squat about coin collecting come onto these channels naively thinking that coins worth thousands are to be found in EVERY handful of pocket change. It just isn’t so. It takes knowledge….experience….a deep understanding of coin collecting…..and THOUSANDS of hours of searching coin rolls to find even a small number of the modest mint errors and die varieties that might put $10 in your pocket here and $60 in your pocket there. The REALLY big scores, like the 1969-S DDO are the kind of finds that, while possible, are about as likely as you finding a magic lamp with a genie inside at a garage sale, so temper that enthusiasm, newbies, with a cold splash of reality. I know. I’ve been fooling with coins for 53 years. Have fun, but don’t think you are likely to pay off your mortgage or even your monthly car note doing this. 99.99999999999% who try will fail. It’s not much different than playing the lottery. Have fun, but keep your expectations in check. With that said - welcome to the hobby to all of you who are new to doing this. 🙂

A word of caution to newbies to the roll searching game about alleged “unsearched original bank rolls” of coins. While it is true that the hobby of coin collecting went through a phase for about 10 years in the 1950’s and 1960’s of hoarding uncirculated rolls purchased from banks, it is likely that 99% of these rolls were long-ago broken up and sold off. Sure, a few may surface every now and then, but unless you have a way to prove the provenance of those rolls, you are simply taking that person’s word on a leap of faith. That’s fine if the price for the rolls is low - say 2 or 3 cents a coin for uncirculated 1959 Lincoln cents. But if they ask for a lot more than that you are likely being fleeced by a con man who has searched dealer sold rolls of 1959 BU Lincolns and then has re-rolled them using artificially aged wrappers - bogus bank stamps - and a crimping machine so that he can sell them to chumps for inflated prices knowing they are hoping to score condition rarities, errors, die varieties, etc, but none are in these rolls - just previously searched BU Lincoln Memorial cents worth very little money. Check the seller’s feedback. Also check their auctions history. If they have a seemingly un-ending supply of 64 year old “original BU bank rolls” move on. You are dealing with a fraudster.
