Been using Fram for twenty-five years. Good filters. They work best when they aren't cut open.

Agreed. My grandpa used to own the Gambles hardware store in my hometown and he carried Fram back in the 1950's and 60's. He never had a customer complaint about them. My family has used Fram in farm trucks, tractors, other farm equipment and cars for decades and we've never had a filter related engine failure. Fram filters work. I myself work at Walmart in the auto care center and I've been servicing vehicles for 14 years. We've never had an engine failure due to a bad filter. We have had a handful of gasket failures where the oil did leak when we pressure checked the system. We would just put another new filter on and problem solved. Does Fram make bad filters? No. Does Fram make an occasional bad filter? Sure, every filter brand is going to make an occasional bad filter. Including Wix and K&N and Purolator and Mobil 1....They all will have a bad one. But do we judge them as bad filters because of an occasional bad filter? Nope.

Fram UltraSyntheric is actually not so bad, unlike the lower end filters of that brand. I've been using it for years in my Impreza, and never had a problem.

@@alejandrotobienne584 exactly. Subaru's standard OEM filter is not exactly the best one either. It's price ($10 versus $17 for Fram UltraSynthetic) kind of indicates that.

Will easily set it off. But my concern isn’t if cardboard breaks but how much it may leak. With condition of his oil he could have gone 10k on filter even with another oil change but we would never know condition of said filter. My subaru turns oil dirty but the upside is shiny metal internals when say removing valve covers etc.

Having a bit of surface rust isn't an issue. ALL oils have anti-rust additives which would neutralize any rust on contact.

Fram Tough Guard & Ultra are some of the best $7-$8 filters on the market. Period! Plenty of experiments, reviews & ratings out there to support that. Stop scaring folks into more expensive alternatives. You pick on non-issues with these filters while offering no proof that anything you point out causes any issues with the filter whatsoever. Next you'll be trying to tell us the color of paint on the outside of the filter can cause restrictions in oil flow & premature engine failure! Jeez!!!

Been using Fram ultra & tough guard for years. Great filters especially the ultra. When using the ultra I definitely noticed that the oil stays cleaner much much longer. After 10,000 miles oil still looks clean and I can see though it.

I have used the Fram XG10060 Ultra Synthetic on my 5.7 Hemi for years. No issues. My synthetic oil stays relatively clean between changes. I check every filter for burrs on the threads, metal filings and any signs of contamination. So far nothing. Reviews with disassembly show good construction and filter media.

Ok. Not sure how that would happen due to an oil filter when the oil is clean and the pressure is consistent. Using only Pennzoil Ultra platinum 5w20. No upper engine noise so far at 110k miles. But thanks anyway.

The BOSS is a tank. Better base plate and thicker cup than all others. The media is 100% synthetic messed and rip proof. Acrylic gasket is better.

oil sitting in the filter catches contaminants . I think it will be ok lol. My guess Fram pre lubed the anti drain valve mechanism. I don't think a whole lot of dirt is going to stick to that thin layer of oil inside the oil filter. Probably none. LOL it's in the box and not in a real dusty environment. Even if it had lets say a few pieces of dust or tiny grains of dirt, once you put oil in the car won't matter. Hope this helps!

Hi Nate, Have you ever thought of just rubber banding or clamping the filter media over the head of a bottle or mount it in a fixes size opening and running some dirty oil through it to see how well it flows or how much dirt it catches? I could think of a fancier test rig, but all you really need is a apples to apples test to find out which media is better. If you wanted to you could even heat the oil to simulate engine conditions. Or you could even use an old car engine to test how the filter affects oil pressure. I mean everyone is cutting up filters to see what's in them, but no one is testing how they actually work. Does one filter actually flow better or catch more dirt than another? Those are the real questions that millions of viewers really want answered.

That is not moisture inside the filter it's lubricant. It's very slippery and water isn't slippery.

@@tylerexperience8704 Just FYI, it isn't cardboard, but rather a composite material. Yes they are durable as you pointed out. The composite holds to the filter media better than metal.

@@jwatt95 Amsoil is made by Champion. Your paying $20 and $10 shipping for the Amsoil name advertised on a Champion filter. Napa Platinum is a much better filter with a micron rating if 15 and a beefy coil spring inside, unlike Amsoil. And it’s only $10 bucks at the Napa store with military discount

I don't know who this is but Fram XG filters are made as well as anything else you can buy. Silicone drain back, caged pleats so they can't blowout, and full synthetic filter media with more flow than Mobil filters. He's crying about the rust protection and the rust if it doesn't have it. That's what you call talking out of both sides of your face.

Never use fram anything filter 😂 it's been like this for a long time. These vids have been up of people cutting into the filters. This is the first moisture claim I've heard...the typical gripe with these is just low build quality and materials....like cardboard on the inside 😂

Amsoil made by Champion. Purolator Boss, Fram Ultra Synthetic, Napa Platinum are just as good and won’t cost you $30 bucks with shipping. They are about $10 bucks. Napa Platinum has a 15 micron rating.
