I remember when Clarisonic was around… It ruined my skin so bad I ended up having to go on a course of Accutane because I just couldn’t get my skin back to what it was. I made sure to always clean the brushhead too. But i guess it wasn’t enough, considering it was a major source of harboring bacteria.
Back in my early 30s I suddenly was getting a whole bunch of tiny whiteheads on my face in areas that are usually not problematic, like my cheeks. When I finally went to see the dermatologist they explained it was because I was exfoliating too much it was actually aggravating the hair follicles or something. They were right, it was a vicious cycle I was exfoliating more to get the little whiteheads out not knowing I was causing them. I forget what they told me to do besides not exfoliate but it cleared up really fast and I’ve never never seen them again.
Same here! Omg, back in the day seams everyone loved it and I just couldn’t get passed the irritation and it produced infection and acne. No matter cleaning and reps living the heads. Glad it out of business.
Those Clarisonic face scrubbers were a big thing back when I was younger…when skin care in general meant using a lot of harsh products and mechanical exfoliation was all the rage. I had one, but didn’t use it, it hurt!!
I love my Olay one, I use it twice a week & change the heads around every 3 months but I wash the brush head every single time before I use it & usually after I use it too unless I’m in a rush. I find it great for dry/combination skin but that being said I’ve tried 2 other brands & they were horrible. One the brush was too soft to even do anything & the other even tho the brush was too soft it was also irritating!! Anyone with super dry flaky yet acne prone skin I totally recommend the Olay one, but again not every day & like she said you can’t just reuse the brush heads for weeks to months without washing them. Like eww 😅 oh & also do not store it or your toothbrush in the washroom! Again like eeew 😅🙈🙈
Yup, for us early 2000s teens, it was all about: Apricot scrub, Stidex pads, tanning beds/laying out with oil instead of sunscreen, straight-up peroxide & a thick layer of salicylic acid/benzoyl peroxide nightly (but caked all over your face- not as a spot treatment). It makes it hard to believe any skin care products because- what are we using now that will horrify us in the coming decades?
my derm actually recommended the clarisonic to me back in the day. i have oily, mediterranean olive skin that LOVES exfoliation. my skin never looked better than when i used tret + clarisonic. which probably would be too much for a lot of people but i don’t trust advice when there is no consideration for the fact that different things work for different people. ❤
For me, it worked really well honestly. I don’t use one anymore because as I’ve gotten older, my skin is mostly clear now. But, back when I had more acne, my cell turnover was really slow and my face would just get really clogged up. Using the brush helped so much to exfoliate and get all of the funk off everyday.
I used one of those Clarisonic brushes from 7th grade till I graduated high school and cleaned the head maybe once every couple of months- I never understood why my skin was so awful when I was washing my face every day, and it wasn’t till the brush got broken that I switched to using cotton pads and my skin finally started to clear up
@@junedaisy707Just about as nasty as this comment dripping with condescension. I mean, obviously they realized their mistake…but whatever makes you feel better. Anyway, @ajsmith8041 probably thought (albeit wrongly) that since they were pouring soap on the brush head, rinsing, probably double cleansing their face with it, that it was getting clean enough.
@@junedaisy707okay but can you consider that a 7th grader might not yet have a good grasp on how often things should be cleaned if they weren’t taught?
Typically rollers you should place some sort of serum or other agent so it ROLLS on the skin not RUBS against. Rubbing causing frictions and wears out the skin
@@sunshinehope9825 I think most people do, I laugh at people who scream about those shower puffs being unsanitary. Like you’re supposed to wash them and also replace them. So mine is not unsanitary because I take care of it and I replace it regularly.
I love my Clarisonic and wash the head every time both before and after use. I have thick rubbery oily skin and the Clarisonic is perfect for me once or twice per month. It is definitely not for everyone, but for me, it is a Godsend
It’s wild to see all this hate. I have the exact opposite skin type, dry, soft sensitive and I loved my Clarisonic and still use it when I am not lazy.
I didn’t have issues with my Clarisonic. Problem was people used it too often along with chemical exfoliation. I used mine maybe once a week or month depending on the state of my skin and it worked great.
I agree, clarisonic gave me the worst acne in my life 10 years ago. Cystic acnes all around my whole face. Never had acne that bad in my life ever not even when i was a teenager. Never again
Awww cystic acne can be so painful. It would be a pleasure to offer some help from a professional perspective. Have you considered that this may be a hormonal condition? We have some skincare suggestions for you: the Murad Deep Relief Acne Treatment, they also made a new acne mask with sulfur that we LOVE and also (this is not medical advice) birth control RX may help to reduce breakouts. I still use my clarisonic!! I buy new heads regularly and actually bought 10 of them for £200 last year as thry were going out of business. I keep mine clean & use it only once in a while now im using Tretinoin etc.., but it changed my skin when i first started using it 13yrs ago before Retinoids.
My Clarisonic didn’t work the first time I used it. Two years later I tried again and it was the best thing ever. Eventually the company didn’t survive the pandemic. And mine eventually stopped working about 3 months later after they closed their website (where I tried to get refill brushes!!!) I ended up buying a REALLY cheap wannabe version from Amazon and it scraped my skin and hurt it!!!😢 It was however really effective in eliminating most of my hyperpigmentation for the time being. Now I know to use a silicone gentle oscillating cleansing brush made for sensitive skin, with a niacinamide serum after toner etc. ❤
I used a Clarisonic and it ruined my skin It happened pretty much in the first month. my skin was always pretty clear. so it couldn’t have been how clean the brush was because it was new. I developed really painful large bumps under the skin, and when I stopped using the machine, it took 4 to 5 months for my skin to return to normal. I didn’t even use it every day. I’m so glad I bought it from QVC and ended up returning it.
She telling people clean it and it’s actually damages the surface of your skin for the idiots who use it good luck you are aging yourself the fastest way possible your facial skin does not get so dirty that you need to use a spinning scrub brush on it get real ppl
I don’t like when they speak for all people honestly it did wonders for my skin! I stopped using it because I heard it wasn’t good for my skin but then I started having more breakouts and textured skin so I started using it again and my skin is nice and clear and bright again ❤
@@moonlitskylight5740 obviously you didn’t listen to what she said in the video. She said that it was bad for all people, WHICH IS NOT TRUE “she should’ve given the complete information and specify that it works for a lot of ppl. It works great for me and for a lot of us🙌🏼 But again she was only doing this video to advertise her own product 😂 throwing shades to other product so ppl can buy hers. 🙄
I absolutely love my Clarisonic! I even bought an extra one when I knew they were going out of business 🫣 But I clean my head daily with apple vinegar soap and change out the brush every 2 months. You can definitely tell, when I haven’t used it in a while. I’ve tried to stop and use exfoliants instead but definitely didn’t do my skin any justice.
Same. I wash once a day and have extremely dry skin. If I stop using it I turn grey scaly skin and start breaking out with weird white bumps. It works for me. I’ve tried switching to chemicals for 2 years but they make me peel constantly and rely on excessive amounts of products to help with a hydration routine. I tried to quit it. 👎
@@thebonniewongPaula’s Choice has always had great cleansing, toning, and treatment products. Love their moisturizers and sunscreen too. That 2%salicylic acid is legendary though and it’s what they’re best known for. I like using their products!😊
The Clarisonic brushes used different technology though. I still use mine and yes you can still buy new brush heads for them. Mine is 10 plus years old and still works flawlessly. They don’t build stuff to last like that anymore…
I loved My Clarisonic brush!! 🙌🏼 it did wonders for my skin for years!! “Acne prone” it helped me keep my pores clear after wearing makeup! “I used it only at night and made sure to clean it very well after each use and replaced them when required”. When Clarisonic went out of business I had to purchase dupe brushes online from random companies even Walmart -but they are too harsh on my skin 😢 I think dermatologists sometimes just throw out there incomplete information which is not fair. THERE ARE A BIG GROUP OF PPL THAT TOOK ADVANTAGE OF CLARISONIC BRUSHES BECAUSE THEY WERE AMAZING TO A LOT OF US❤
@@lynettebr You didn’t!? 😂😅 geez you’re hating on this tool like if you had a bad experience but you haven’t even used it 🫠lol Lucky….I would say that I used it properly and also picked the right brush head “just so you know they had different options for different type of skin”. Note: it’s just a brush not a chemical product that will cause you permanent damage. Have a blessed day ✌🏼
Clarisonic was only supposed to used by people with congested pores and acne. Not cystic acne or very sensitive skin . And it had specific brushes for different skin problems. I have Rosacea and acne /oily t zone and it worked for me. I used it once a day. It when needed. My dermatologist suggested using one. Not everyone has the same skin ,so saying something shouldn't be used or making sweeping judgements about products doesn't help anyone. I'm 54, and I have tried hundreds of products since I was a teen . most of the time ,I find that what a Dr. wanted me to use, didn't help,(creams etc.) I did my own research into what my skin was and trial and error into what helped it clear up or kept it clear. Basically, I didn't rely on a dermatologist.🙄
so because it was okay to use 20 years ago before further research was done, means its still okay to use even though youre over exfoliating? okay you do you. but why be a bitch about it?
My comment above was meant to be addressed to you. You’re being very reasonable, by the way. Research for YOUR skin is critical, as you’ve done. Nothing is b****y in your comment. 😊
I still use my Clarisonic every single night. I only use the Radiance brushes and, luckily, I bought about 20 of them when they were going out of business for 1/4 of the original cost. I also found some on Mercari in case anyone out there needs some.
I still use mine, too! I use it every other day and can really tell a difference in my skin texture-it is smooth, not uneven. I clean it after every use.
They are fine if you use them correctly. I hate when someone is reviewing a product and they knock it for not using it correctly. Facial cleansing brushes are great. They have so many styles and sensitive and deep cleaning for different skin types. Its good to gently massage the face when washing.
I just used to use the old school Buff-Puffs, Clinique Toner #3, St. Ives apricot scrub, Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask, and Clinique Turnaround Cream and All Anout Eyes. I really knew how to exfoliate!!
Apricot scrub is the WORST thing next to crushed glass you could use on your face as an exfoliation product…..it is quite literally crushed up apricot seeds hence the rough and sharp edges that leave microscopic cuts on your face which then promote infection. Ask your Derm or even your GP about that particular product. It’s been a huge “No-no” for over a decade. Sorry doll, didn’t mean to wreck ur day but there are many many newer technologies to use to exfoliate than that stuff. Just want to save your beautiful face hon.❤
@@tovah2276😂🫣😖I shudder thinking we ever used those broken apricot bits to clean our faces. No wonder I had acne lmao. Now I use a mild cleanser with salicyclic acid, glycolic acid pads for wrinkles and smoother brighter skin, and Olay retinol for spot breakouts, and hyaluronic cream and I have completely acne free skin. Good lord the 90's was a time 😂
Loved Clarisonic! Only problem was thy would only last around a year and then die out. My Revlon one is still going strong, just think I’ve had it atleast 4 years. It really cleanses the skin well
Still got my clarisonic that packed up after a couple of uses. Still use a mechanical brush but I soak the head in freshly boiled water before every use and I've never had a break out.
I loved my Clarisonic. I was so upset when I found out they went out of business and couldn’t buy a replacement brush head. But boy were they expensive 25$ per head.
Yeah great product imo they should have made the heads cheaper no more than 15.00 a head. They made it so expensive people bought dupe brush heads instead and they lost out on a lot of profit. This derm is a moron.
I wash the head directly after every use. Soak in straight up alcohol before washing w antibacterial soap. Only use once every 2 weeks or so (w a grainy wash ) because i am chemically exfoliating w retinoids and acid mask by ordinary weekly. Every once in a while i want that microdermabrasion feeling exfoliation. So i use it for that. I follow up w my best ingredient skincare hoping it gets in nicely. Heavy moisture, drink water, sleep, then strong sunblock the next morning. Love the results
Dr Idriss, finally put a name to a condition I have on my face -- atrophia maculosa varioliformis. I would love to learn what options - clinical, OTC, tools.... to improve these indentations or reduce likelihood of more appearing! Also in nyc ❤ wish more derms were as informed, rad and empathetic like you!
Clairsonic was the ONLY thing to help me get that deep dirt I had from working in gross military environment. I love it!!! Kept my skin in top shape that cleansing by hand could not do.
I love my clairisonic ...and i'm bright enough to know that the brush heads have to be washed every time I use it, there are also all kinds of other attachments that help to depuff, help with clogs pores, help to gently exfoliate, their is a brush that is awesome for foundation...I beg to differ Ma'am I think this is an awesome tool!!!
I loved my Clarisonic! With textured skin, I feel like nothing gets in my pores to clear them. I tried some dupes after Clarisonic went out of business but none were as soft and thin bristles. Those ones scraped my skin while the Clarisonic cleared the pores.
Skin biome/ microbiome is a thing: helps fight infrction including with acidity) , helps the immune system work, and heals wounds and fights inflammation.
I want 2 restate my initial comment bc 1st off IF something works for someone's skin, they're keeping it clean...& key word it works... Why fix what is not already broken? I personally did not like my cheaper version of the Clairisonic spin brush which came w/ 2 heads (1 for body & 1 for face) but I also used it VERY wrong. I used mine over 2 minutes 2X daily + w/ a glycolic acid cleanser that's only meant 2 be used 1x weekly which it even says on the bottle & says 2 apply gently w/ hands!!! It's not an everyday cleanser so that was 1 mistake, overuse was another mistake, & I stored the brush head in a drawer airing it out occasionally which is a 3rd mistake! I did pull out this device after this video & tried using the facial brush head w/ a gentle cleanser and it's not THAT bad but I STILL prefer my skincare techniques for clean, exfoliated, healthy, moisturized, glowy skin that's not perfect but in better shape Each day! ✌️ 🕊️💛💛
Clarisonic is still an essential part of my skincare routine. I use it two to three times a week and it does wonders. It is a great physical exfoliant.
Mine recently just stopped working/charging, I’m a little annoyed as I can’t get a replacement. But I never had any problems with it. I removed the brush head after every use, kept it clean, no mould. I used it once every week or 2 when I hadn’t used any other type of exfoliant or retinols. Didn’t ruin my skin at all, left it baby smooth! It’s great for getting fake tan off or hair dye off the skin!
I use the Olay regenerates electric cleaning brush, and it does wonders for my skin. My skin looks very different when I stop using it so, it works for me.
I still use my Clarisonic and I change the brushes and clean the parts under the brush and my skin is awesome. It’s a matter of which brush you use. I use a soft one. I’m 81 and as I was being wheeled into a minor surgical procedure this week the 2 nurses who were accompanying me commented to each other “She’s 81. She doesn’t have any wrinkles. Her skin is amazing. I would have never guessed her age “ (They thought I was out of it.) It’s partly genetics of course but also that I started talking care of my skin in my 20’s and have never stopped. I can’t use retinols because they irritate my skin but I do use Vitamins C and E. My point is that find out what works for you and stick with it.
I have this exact face brush, and honestly it works amazingly and really makes my skin clear and smooth! I personally don’t find it to be that abrasive. (The bristles are quite flexible and soft.) and I spray mine down with rubbing alcohol and rinse under hot hot water with antibac Dial. Works like a charm! ❤ Also helps remove leftover makeup that makeup remover/ my hands can’t do alone.
Clarisonic saved my skin. It was really bad breakout etc and it helped. They sold out to L’Oreal who promptly shut them down. It’s near impossible to get brushheads now. I miss them.
You better preach!!!! I’ve always loved my Clarisonic Uplift for massage BUT several years ago I developed a staph infection on my face after attempting to microneedle my own skin at home! Long story short I didn’t know I had an infection and I went out and purchased one of those silicone vibrating face washing devices and let me tell youuuuuu my skin FREAKED out and the infection (I didn’t realize I had yet) spread. Please be careful when doing any of these at home treatments and make sure your skin is clean/hands are clean/tools are clean etc!
@@BlueBlossomsBlues it looked like acne at first so I was attempting to treat it with over the counter products. However, as things progressed it was obvious that something much more serious was going on, at which point I went to my GP and then a derm.
I used to use Clarisonic everyday back in the day and my skin was the best it has ever been. I tried to find Clarisonic a few months ago and couldn't find it or find anything like it and if I do I will get it again because it made my skin wonderful. But I also used it with microdermabrasion crystals and I changed my heads frequently.
I’ve had my Clarisonic since 2015 and I still use it daily. I do wash the brush heads and keep it dry when not it use. I have to say, my skin has always been problematic UNTIL I started using this. Since then, no issues! It’s not a blanket DO NOT USE product. I say, use it it you found it works. A worker in staples yesterday said I look 32….I’m 46.
Meanwhile me sticking with my hand. I heard about those products when I was younger and it was really tempting, until I saw some dermatologists saying that it might increase more breakouts. I stopped looking at any of these products. I stick with my priceless clean bare hand and it’s been great. Love you my hands.
I still have a clarisonic, and it's the best tool ever!!!! I don't think you should toss a product to the side because of operator error. Just inform people to disinfect the brushes after each use and replace them every few months, don't use on broken or compromised skin. Easy breezy!!!
Yeah my skin was stripped raw and had to work with a specialist to get it back on track. Only used it for a week. My skin barrier was ruined for at least 2 months. Never again.
Thank YOU … been saying this for years and years… even when the department stores were rope lining their sales people that they must sell this or get a decrease in pay across-the-board you had to had to buy some departments in the cosmetic department, no matter where you worked sell a few of these a month 😔… and I think I as I get closer to 60 I am thankful that I did not get on this little cool little click bandwagon of the sonic to the face. 🤭
I still use my Clarisonic in my daily skincare routine to this day @ 40. It changed my skin for the better 1000% yeeears ago. Like night and day. Bought enough brush head refills to last another decade when I heard people cancelled them. My 2 teenagers use my original brush (I had 2) and swear by it as well. I cannot imagine life without it. My skin used to never feel clean. Everyone is different 🤷♀️
I used a clarisonic for years because my dermatologist recommended it. It was $90 to replace the brush heads and I changed mine out once a month and washed it everyday. To this day I think it made my skin worse
Clarisonic was the best for me. I would wash the brush head in soapy warm water and soak it in alcohol. That’s like saying don’t use reusable makeup brushes. lol They most likely wanted to do well for the environment by lowering the use of plastic so the head company decided to close.
I remember the Clarisonic days! And people would pair them with these REALLY exfoliating scrubs like they really want to lose all their skin, I was so lucky I had (well still have) super sensitive skin so I already knew I couldn’t hang with those brushes
I love a rotary brush as an oily skinned person. I always wash my brushes with antibacterial soap after each use. I buy multiple heads as well so cross contamination isn’t a thing. Change the brush heads like you would your toothbrushes
I bought a cheap dupe. It's my best tool for cleaning antique wooden furniture... which is everything you need to know about how suitable it is for face...
I love my Clarisonic. I still have it I take very good care of it. I clean the head with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol and I’ve had mine for five years.
absolutely! I bought a real cheap one, just a couple bucks, terrible for my face, made my skin sore! someone said they use it for their sneakers which I'm so gonna try now
Wow. I remember wanting a Clarisonic so bad at some point! I never bought one because I didn’t know how to clean the brush and it was too expensive for me. This is the first time I’m hearing about Clarisonic again after 5 years and I’m glad I wasn’t rich enough to buy one all those years ago.
I absolutely loved my face scrubber! Of course I replaced the heads quite often and I also clean them with antibacterial cleaner in between usage. They left my face so soft. I noticed a total difference
I LOOOOVED my Clarisonic. I had it for about 5-6 years before the battery died and was so sad when i found out they went out of business. I tried a couple of other brushes after that, but none worked well. I now only exfoliate chemically but i still miss my Clarisonic.
I had a Clarisonic I used for about 6 years, I had acne prone skin….honestly, it had a good run. It deep cleaned my face well! After 5 years it died! It served its purpose!
I've never used a Clarisonic but I remember the ads, along with Proactiv they were both huge back in the day! As for the lil sneak in of the mentioning of Jade rollers at the very end, I use my Jade roller only sometimes; I should probably use it more!
