The issue with nail polish isn’t your cleanliness or how it looks when it’s chipped, it’s the bacteria that can get into the chips. I work in the OR, while yes, we are allowed to wear nail polish, as soon as it starts to chip, we are required to take it off. Gel/shellac is better than acrylic. There was a study done about a bacteria that was killing these babies in NICU. The bacteria was traced back to this nurse’s acrylic nails. The nurse was doing proper hand hygiene, but with cracked/chipped nail polish, the bacteria can get into places that the hand sanitizers and soaps can’t get to.
At my hospital we are allowed to have nails. It's not a bacterial issue because we obviously have to wash our hands frequently throughout the day and use a special soap specifically to rid our hands of bacterias. I see the nail thing more in American hospitals tbh.
Interesting people gave you crap about wearing your scrubs home ... that’s the norm here in southern US to my knowledge. At my hospital only l&d change in to scrubs once they get to work
8:20 nice stockpile... it's on my list to start doing as well. ? did you have to do reflective journaling when you were a student? do you have a how to video on that?
