Personally, I liked them better before they went all 1984 on us. As someone on Reddit said, them being a good race yet also being doomed is more grimdark. Even if GW wont kill them off, at least as long as models sell, to see a race that shows that all the hate and killing is not the only way, yet knowing that is a one that will never dominate and only be a minor power can be depressing in and of itself.
Hard agree. Love the idea of having the ONE genuinely good alignment faction against the horror that is 40K. The "generic sci-fi aliens" in contrast with the rest of the setting and showing how screwed up everything is. And as a stepping stone for those who are interested in 40K to get into it without going into the deep end of grimdark
I had the same thought with the whole Tau / Dark Eldar thing. When the guy in black armor, covered in blades and skulls and is riding a torture barge says, "I just want to have a chat, step through this portal you'll be back soon, trust me". Then starts cackling, maybe don't thrust him. Then again, now that I think about it, Dark Eldar are not any better. "You know what would be a great idea? Having a hunting holiday on Fenris." Then getting made when Space Wolves start killing them. There is having and ego and just being comically stupid.
Love the reactions, but honestly that explanation for why you don't like T'au is really dumb. I could say the exact same thing about Space Marines- plenty of "those guys" play Astartes- but I don't bc they have plenty going on aside from people who play them. You should really give them a chance. They have a lot of interesting lore for such a relatively fresh faction and they bring an interesting outlook to the setting.
At the end of the day Tau is my second favorite faction of WH40K, simply because I like cool mechs and the advance tech they have is appealing to my lore style overall, what ya'll think about Tau?
Tau are the army I love to hate. And also straight up hate. The pseudo Asian names, letter number designations, and exotic sci-fi look confuses and infuriates me. I can’t wrap my head around which unit is what or what load outs they’re equipped with. Is this a pulse rifle, carbine, or blaster? I can’t tell. There is a smug aura to the Tau that I am driven to combat. Even though they are not represented much in my local area’s meta, I can’t help but list tailer my armies to counter them.
I also got into 40k around when the Tau first launched, but in my case 'That Guy' ran Grey Knights, rules lawyered my friend and I out of victory when we were about 12 at the local game store. Needless to say I feel the exact same way about Grey Knights as you do about the Tau. First time I faced a Tau player funny enough involved me getting WAAAY too luck with Ahriman's staff and rolling 6 after 6, essentially melting both his hammerhead and an entire squad of crisis suits with bolts of change in a single turn, ahh memories.
Ngl boss man your reason for hating the tau because of “that guy” just makes it sound really dumb. You held onto that bad experience for so many years to continue hating on a fictional faction? What is this? Elementary school?
Before life happened i regularly played Dark Eldar, my friend i mostly played with was a Tau man, my usual strategy was get in close and swing, i think we were pretty even in victories. Our favorite moments usually were when i managed to close to melee and he roll terribly, jokingly said "are they doing lines down the barrel"
@@thedusktrainer5340 “I may never see my family again, but at least I died for the dead guy in the chair who doesn’t give two shits about me”. You realize the whole point of the death korps of Krieg is that there sacrifices are ultimately meaningless, but y’all see the German uniforms (even tho they’re more similar to ww1 French uniforms) and y’all soy out
Honestly chief, the explanation of why you hate T'au because of "that guy" just make it sound very petty and silly. Like you decided to held on to that bad experience for how many years just to continue hating on a fictional faction? The quote "Hate the player, not the game" exist precisely for these moments. And every time you bring up a reason to hate the T'au, like them essentially enslaving their second class groups for example... So what? It's really isn't anything worse than stuffs other factions have done. It's a reason to don't like them morally, yes. But if you run with that logic, the entire setting is shit because everyone else are even worse. And FYI, I don't even like T'au all that much, not more than any other factions in the setting really. They all got their niche, good and bad.
It's a meme my guy.... :) At some point I'm going to have to explain why certain factions are fun to hate. I "hate" the Tau. Or 30k Space Wolves. It's fun to 'hate' them. Or do you honestly think I'm out in the street outside hobby shops screaming at people with Tau armies?
@@OldManReacts it’s really hard tell if you’re really memeing because half of the video is dissing on the T’au… plus anytime the T’au is mentioned you diss T’au with every opportunity. So the difference between a meme or genuine “hate” becomes blurry. -_-
He is just a IDIOT. Typical american, stupid, ignorant and proud of their Criminal enterprise called usa (yes intentionallly with lower case cause americans are Pathetic)
You're a great guy, but i'm gonna echo the rest of the comments here and agree that, while it's completely fine that you dislike the tau, the reason for it comes off as a lot more petty and childish than you probably want. Either way, awesome vid as always, even if the vibe is a bit off 😅
I mean I played Tau cause I could never hit crap in melee anyway and have been in love with Railguns since I was young and I played Red Faction. First fps I remember letting you shoot through walls and kill stuff at the same time.
I have always felt the meme that Tau mechs are gundams to be a little weird considering that a lot of the mech designs were stolen from the Battletech franchise
@GMorgan84 neg, those came from Macross and Fang of the Sun Dougram. And the Macross designs caused all kinds of problems because FUCK HARMONY GOLD!!!
Idk if someone had the same vibe I get from tau name, it kinda have the same ring to Tao/Dao which many confucianism use to describe how life should be
I remember playing DOW with the Tau and holding off three different players until they got up close .Tau hit hard but without Kroot to hold the line your fucked . Although a fully upgraded fire warrior teams alone can run through the game they just start shooting things you can't see 🤣🤣🤣
I heard a fan theory on the Tau that an Enslaver managed to notice them and took interest. Yes, the Tau have almost no warp presence, but they do have some. This particular Enslaver realized it could keep itself well fed having the whole of the Tau to itself to consume. This Enslaver made the Ethereals (I'm not sure how) to keep the Tau from evolving a stronger warp presence or developing true warp engines (this was pre-4th sphere). Should either occur then other warp entities would notice the Tau ruining it's tiny portion sized but exclusive cattle species.
He didn't really mention it, but they do clearly take inspiration from the covenant/dominion, the ethereals being malevolent puppet masters matches perfectly with the prophets/founders.
To compare the fucking Tau to another race, albeit less mind control and more ideology, I'd compare them to the Qunari from Dragon Age. Although, the Qunari take it to an entirely different level.
I’m not a Gundam fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I don’t mind the Tau. The universe is a near endless space, and it’s not impossible for a race that has its own style to be in the setting.
I get it boss you can not like the tau, but i really like them I like how they look as well as the fact they aren't just "ha ha space crucade killlllllllllllll!" And i think giant robots with more missiles than a Michael Bay movie are really cool.
Would I rather live in an empire where I am little more than fodder to be thrown at a problem and I eat what I'll become that being corpse starch or would I rather live in the Tau caste system and have a job with reasonable hours, an apartment, real food and a breathable atmosphere? Hard call man
yeah just forget all the crimes the tau commit such as at least 2 accidentally wiping out species that join them and several other times they claimed to be accidents a growing bias against there own primary species cause redundant oh and a ww2 era germany problem when it comes to weapons and the fact they actively screw over planetary pops so they effectivly controll breeding rates so certain species just disapear off certain planets or the galaxy case depending
I fought a farsight player i got crushed brutally i was using tyranids and a friend of mine used world eaters he kicked my ass then butchered the world eater player me and the world eater teamed up and we still lost i hate the tau on table top
I mean the Vespids are so why wouldn't humanity? This isn't Mass Effect where Humanity is the super special underdog for no adequately explained reason, humanity is rather pointedly kinda pathetic in comparison to most species in 40k That being said it seems pretty clear that whether they're vulnerable to the pheromones or not a lot of humans would rather side with the Tau anyway.
@@anthonyrodriguez8788 vespids are expressly stated to run off pheromones and are as such highly vulnerable meanwhile kroot are not notably too loyal or susceptible to the pheromones that said they specialize in diplomacy so it's all kinds of unfalsifyable
The Tau might be 'better' than the current Imperium of Man.... but that's still pretty damning. It took humanity an entire conga line of galactic-level apocalypses to go from the scientific, enlightened civilization to what it is in the 40th millenium. Meanwhile... the Tau without ANY outside influence (that we know if) did a speedrun straight into dystopian society.
